  1. Really hard to say dont know youre tastes and things but what I will say is... if you got bored on a 600 and are thinking about a 1000, I wont give the usual "you will kill yourself" speech because if you're that sort of full throttle nutter any bike will kill you even a 300. But they are totally bonkers, and not really in a good way, you will find yourself at go to jail speed every time you ride it and it feels like 80mph. If you can do 107 in first it makes you wonder why you bought it. You will fall off it but you will fall off pulling off your mates drive or at a funny junction, sportsbikes are awkward as hell for manouvering as a new rider. I had a fz6s2 (Ill find a picture) really liked it. Quicker than a stock z but you can rev it in 1st 2nd 3rd and your probably in 6 points territory rather tham 6 months teritory. The body style was a good compromise.
  2. Haha we did a collapsed lung job on Ocean and the navy wouldn't let us land because we hadn't done the training so we had to winch, their deck was bigger than our helipad! No matter how much you kick you normally arrive at the boat facing backwards lol
  3. Got a short video just for you lot :-) Spent ages trying to keep it in a quiet corner of youtube, don't think I'm doing anything wrong putting it here but dont send it to the sun lol. I have had very few interesting jobs to report recently but here is a bit of secondary role action of me playimg winchman. I always point the camera down and right but it's really hard to catch anything interesting. Proper nearly ate a handrail at the end! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YNk7rxTMvbo&noredirect=1
  4. Beautiful, great work :thumbup1:
  5. Well this is what I expected, I dont think we are a narrow minded bunch either, completely able to give a fair assesment and not just defend zeds blindly. They are one of the most unappreciated and capable cars around. I am going to continue to smooth off any eough edges I find and be zedding for a long time yet, happy knowing that the grass isnt particularly gereener elsewhere.
  6. By the way I'm not going to get rid of my zed don't worry, I just feel like I haven't driven enough interesting cars sometimes. And the only things I could fault on my zed is the slightly light steering that I will try to sort with japspeed arms and stuff and the brakes that can't keep up with the performance. My gearbox is average, I would love a bolt action rifle style gear change, the shift on my mx5 is nicer. But all in all without spending a lot you cant really do better can you.
  7. I like that Gary, and there is no doubt that our cars are great value, a little known gem. I would love to be able to try out these other cars to prove that I am on to a winner, but all my mates drive focuses!
  8. The supra thing there is a thread somewhere where people have said the driving position is awkward and they are less confidence inspiring than a zed. It is sooo subjective though isn't it, my capri in hindsight was more playful and less serious, you could get to the limit at far slower speeds. But it wasnt a better machine by quite a way. I imagine a tvr would feel similar, but when you hear road tester saying things like The gear shift is like a bolt action rifle And The steering is telepathic I wonder if there would be more of that in elises and tvrs. But the elise wouldnt let me bounce the back about would it.
  9. How good are zeds honestly? I am fairly comitted to my zed, I plan to keep it as the high performance car I need. But, I do get wandering eyes, find myself looking at supras on PistonHeads, or bonkers miester gtrs. Capris... elises... So, for those with better car histories than myself, how good are they? Ive heard supras are a bit pants, I do love my zed it feels really good to me but how do they honestly stack up? Would a tvr be better? More rewarding, more capable? I thought this would bring up an interesting discussion.
  10. I like anthracite wheels, I think they normally look pretty classy, a lot of nice beamers have them.
  11. The porche does look a bit dull but that was the most expensive car I could find with matte wheels. Wasn't having a go Si :-)
  12. "Poverty spec" get off the fence Si! Dont forget that a stack of people on will here have matte black wheels. They can look good or bad depending on the bigger picture, hell, I bet purple curtains can probably look good done correctly. However you should definitely paint your wheels white
  13. Sorry mate, happy birthday :-)
  14. Haven't driven it again I am afraid, work has been bonkers. Ill drop you a line when I do though.
  15. Too much grip can make a car feel dull. I put 4x T1Rs on my last MX5 and that was just silly. If you could keep yourself in the drivers seat you could take any corner at any speed. I couldn't really advance myself as a driver with such huge grip.
  16. Hello Noel havent seen you here for a while, hope you are well. I dont kbow whether I hadn't spotted or just hadn't appreciated how awesome your 1/4 mile time is on your signature 12.62, that's crackers. My car and mighty auto turbos are still fit and strong at near 70000 miles, I have also come to truly love the power after initially being a bit overwhelmed. Thanks again mate
  17. Joley what other mods did you have when yours went on? I had already spent a track day and a lot of road tests getting the ride height on the meister rs just right (for handling not style) the damping and even the tyre pressures and it had strut braces; so it drove really well any way. I was also trying to guard against the placebo effect on my arb test drive. I plan to add the japspeed arms too with the aim to get firm or heavier steering if that makes sense? But the ballance and stability was already good.
  18. I only drove it 15/20 miles, really hard to say. They weren't the twistiest roads but it did feel really stable. It was difficult as it was the first dry drive in months and couldnt quite remember what it felt like. I will give it a proper test, possibly tomorrow but they went on well, feel good bits of kit, dont squeak or anything.
  19. Haha the things you take a step back and look at after 2 hours underneath :hang: Perhaps I'm being thick, the roads werent exactly the lotus test track, I put most of the difference down to it being dry, it felt really stable. And I didn't roll over...
  20. It is (and was before) the most sure footed sturdy car I have ever had. I thought it may have been a bit flatter but assumed that was psychosomatic, and thought it was easier to get real thrust out of corners like it had a bit more rear traction. Don't see why it would but I didn't think it was just the dry. It probably reduces bump steer or those other race car handling things that people who know what they're talking about, talk about  You probably feel the benefits when youre hammering a bit more than I was. Either which way, I really enjoyed a day on my back, thank you for the advice I hope my next post isn't "I put it on hard and reversed up a tree!"
  21. Haha, only a petrol head appreciates that there are different boost scenarios, try explaining that to your girlfriend  Smart car mate :thumbup1:
  22. Yeah did both with the same settings as you all seemed to go on as it should, did everything up tight, no clonks no squeaks. Am I being numb and failing to notice the massive difference?
  23. Some pics, There we are, thanks again, my thought are in the what did you do to your zed thread but basically, really hard to feel a difference! But I will see how they are over more than 15 miles.
  24. I fitted my Stillenzzz  I set them to Soft front and Medium rear and it is really hard to say if there is much difference. Perhaps a bit but It was sort of 2/3 dry on the test drive and I have only driven in the wet for like 3 months lol so of course it handled better. What I can say is it took 4 hours or so, so wasn't too bad a job and I didn't remove the front tie bars or the exhaust like it reckons you need to. It certainly isn't any worse I think ill go to the stiffest setting on the rear and if that is too tail happy go firm front too. Time will tell.
  25. I got them from z1. I have the rear arb off just put my bushings together and stuff going to offer the new one up. - - - Updated - - - I will feel a difference on middle back and soft front you reckon?
