Grounded :-(
Had a faff uploading but you get the idea, feel free to mock! It doesn't look that bad, this is just after we released the cable tie before I went all feeble. I can't see it till tomorrow it has to be left alone to knit together, I hope it looks colourful because it bloody hurts :-) One of the most cringe things I have seen is a totally broken in two humerus on a cute 25YO horse rider that caused full on compartment syndrome in her upper arm, looked like a swolen purple arm band.

Grounded :-(
I was a well behaved kid so can't remember being grounded before but I was this morning by the medical centre. I crushed my hand on Monday helping a mate jack down his land rover. In the end it was only really my little finger that was damaged, I was carrying (fumbling and dropping if I am honest) a really dense breeze block when I walloped my right hand between it and a wall. I knew it was pretty bad immediately and instantly put a lot of indirect pressure on the finger base and put my hand over my head. Luckily me and my mate are medically trained SAR Boys so treated the wound to a high standard... OR B! Beamo ran and grabbed a tourniquet and some Loctite and I squeezed like hell on the bottom of the finger, the finger was cold and white and the end segment with the nail on it was like a squished grape. Tourniquet on Beamo gathered my 3 finger ends together and got stuck in (lol) with the Loctite. Now he told me it was left over veterinary glue from his dog at this point, Lies! Anyway this held and we left the tourniquet on for about 5 mins to let it set; now it hurt a lot anyway, like a stubbed toe or a kick in the balls, a sickening mega burning pain... then we slowly released the tourniquet . It hurt so much I threw up haha, but with the amount of banter I was getting from Beamo we were both bad laughing, as the blood returned the nail immediately went black and the finger went every colour and swelled up stressing out the superglue which barely held. At this point much to Beamo's delight I went into shock, I was so disappointed I started being sick and felt really faint, I told him "Mate, I'm about to F***ing pass out!" laughing hard he was stood with a camera commentating "He is going... ooh he is on his knees!" I think this was supportive as it did help me to barely stay up through the laughter and was given something to bolster my strength... This passed over 7 mins or so after which I kind of felt all right. So we carried on for an hour and a half and bled his brakes (no longer able to be trusted with bricks or tools at this point I was on light duties on the brake pedal). Then I set off home. The mistake here was putting the heaters on in the car! This blew my finger end open to look like predator's face! I popped back to Beamo's place to borrow some glue and decided to go to hospital ( Stop the clock he has made the right decision) They burned a hole in my finger nail with a soldering iron and drained what must have been half of all the blood in my body then X rayed it. The finger end looks like a stamped on bag of crisps inside lol. So I am on antibiotics and as I left hospital was given 2 Ibuprofen haha. It wasn't all bad as the Radiographer was gorgeous and I left a NHS thank you slip thing I found on her desk with my number on it (hasn't replied lol) and we went out for a curry but as I was on antibiotics and couldn't drink I drove the 3 of us in the zed lol. So that was that, I am now grounded and have had to get cover for my next 2 shifts, so I have ordered a soldering iron, a hot glue gun and some LEDs from groover, that will give me something to do  I have pics of my finger, it doesn't look that bad really but perhaps my idea of bad is quite high. I'll not put them up unless people have a grim interest. I hope this was a laugh for you guys, It certainly has been for the lads at the Flight. To any brickies out there, RESPECT :thumbup1:

Experienced driver fail
I spun mine and checked my tyre pressures (because it couldn't possibly have been my fault lol) had a really low 10psi rear left I think it was. Wet round about not going fast as it was in town. Looked a right melon. I have a brilliant little tyre pressure gauge in the centre conpartment now and check regularly, because on low profile tyres it isnt always obvious. Thats the only time I have spun on the road.

What did you do to your zed today?
Did you buy and glue 4 nose panel (Z) badges on those wheels, because they're BBS aren't they?

What did you do to your zed today?
Those wheels are beautiful, If I got my wheels that clean I would be using nothing but the handbrake and gears to slow down.

What did you do to your zed today?
Drove to Inverness in the GT 300zx and came back in the sports car 300zx. On the way out I burbled along in comfort, decent sound system playing my ipod. Rang my dad on the hands free. Did a bit of defensive parking in the shopping centre... Got my titanium key cut Then after my shopping it was waiting for me like a monster in the corner, the new key worked and I took the longer route back. It is so very trustworthy, it reassures you and eggs you on. I know how far I can push because I have set it up and a recent damper fiddle has got the most from the arbs, it is a great feeling. The roads were dry with dust on them and most corners were in third with the tail wagging the dog from the mid point to the exit. With a big smile on my face and plans to take the car a step further in my head I stopped being 17 year old Tom after a few miles and calmly growled back to my oily parking space in the mess car park enjoying the sun and the nissan smells.

Clutch type
I am looking at 700 for a clutch and a flywheel from competition clutch uk. They have a good helpful website. I think you can get the pair for nearer 500 from the us but with exchange rates and postage and import... I was just gona buy uk. Mine kind of works and has done for a long time. Its a standard plus 25 percent organic jobber I am told. My car has 460 ft lbs of tq and it will slip if you boot it from low rpm. But I dont drive like that and it holds fine with a progressive application of throttle rather than a stamp. That also keeps me on the road and not up a tree.

There are loads of these threads. I am saving for a conp clutch and fly hoping for some discount from the comp clutch bloke on here. Most people use the rps street max. Ordering from the us gives the greatest choice. From my reading into the matter, what paddle clutches drive like is totally subjective but ones with ceramic paddles can squeak as they bite. Hope this helps.

For a split second I thought that was Richard's car! Glad it isn't and looking at small mercys at least he has missed all the solid poles!

What did you do to your zed today?
Really nice mate, I agree with Ian. Interested to know how you find the new clutch and fly set up. I am waiting for my +25% one to properly dissolve before I fork out for something like the Comp Clutch 6 puck.

What I like about this Club!
I personally think that the ethos comes from the top, not taking anything away from us newer members but the long standing members and moderators really set a standard. This is thebonly forum I use, it is a great place.

SAR Saturday
Two aircraft I haven't been on Gary, but I hear a lot of scary Gazelle stories from the ex army pilots here. Well if I make it to the end of Sea Kings I reckon I am safe, the new helicopters are about uncrashable (in theory) whereas these things are nearly unflyable. As exciting as it is it will be sad to leave the RAF.

SAR Saturday
Had a very interesting training trip on Saturday. With it being nice the plan was to go across to the Culins on Skye land and have a SAR picnic, this meant we could spend a few hours ready to react to any jobs over that way and was a good opportunity to see the Culins. A nice day to fly I hadn't been before but had heard many stories told in hushed voices talking about near misses and crazy rescues. When we got there I could see why, the mountains are steep jaggy spikey ones, not rolling lumps like the Cairngorms, the large amount of volcanic rock with a high iron content makes the instruments wobble and a lid of cloud turns day into night. Just add dinosaurs After some good training winching at height and getting most of the cable out, looking at the accident hot spots and flying sideways round bowls like a paper bag in the breeze we had a cold and uneventful picnic. We set off home just as it got dark, and as it happend just as it fogged out! The route home was hard work, but a great team effort. It was so dark the goggles were just showing green static, there were long periods of no light at all, no houses, no moon or stars. The right hand seat did nothing but fly, the left hand seat did all the radios, instruments and various bits of switching needed, I was between the two with a 1:250'000 scale map and a tiny torch, while the winchman followed through on the nav as best he could from the back. A poor goggle picture! (Obviously taken after the really scary bit) the lights are the cockpit instruments and the 2 shades of green are a mountain and the sky. We spent most of the transit at 200 feet or so, the danger was that the wrong turn up the wrong valley would lead to invisible suspended wires, or a dead end and a horrible U turn in a tight valley. The cloud went right to the top and if we lost it and had to climb we would quickly turn into a big yellow snowball amd come back down. Map reading with a finger torch Eventually we saw the lights of inverness and could relax a bit as we cruised home. Invaluable training, we would never intend to get into that position for training but having done it it's just one more experience to fall back on when we do it again for real. And! Good news! Today I heard that I have a position with the civilian company replacing the military SAR service. I am so relieved and proud that I can continue to do the job I love for years to come, albeit on a red white amd blue Italian helicopter :-/ Thanks for reading, ill put up another cool winching video a bit later on.

Which motorbike?
The r6 is famously revvy, no power for ages then quite a lot, doesn't sound like what you need. I stick by what I said about 1000cc not being inherently deadly and have all the tq you need (my zx10r described as peakey for power delivery pulls from 50 in 6th like a hot hatch does in second). Sounds to me like a tripple would be good, power from low down, quite sporty but not hard to manouver, good for 2 people, probably ok for your height but I dont know. Fewer cylinders - more grunt More cylinders - more jail

Which motorbike?
Like the Suzuki mate :thumbup1: Correct me if I'm wrong but Honda - awesome gearboxes, comfortable easy bikes Yamaha - clashy gearboxes, screaming engines Kawasaki - hardcore bikes Suzuki - good compromise of all of the big 4 handle really well Ducatis - V twins Triumph - wicked tripple engines BMW - well its the fast one isn't it or boxer engined bikes

Which motorbike?
Good advice from Roobarb, a triumph street tripple would be like a better version of my fazer.
