  1. Sounds good to me. The car will be transformed when you replace the rear end bushes. Changing bushes and worn suspension bits is probably one of the best things you can do to an older car in terms of driving feel/confidence. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Seems like very cheap labour and money well spent to me! I had to change my diff and it is really really heavy. I lifted it into my car with the breaker I bought it off. You’d need two guys to lift it out if your car is jacked up on the side of the road (for safety) when you undo the bolts or a transmission jack but that’d be difficult when the cars that low. 3. After much deliberation, I’ve decided to definitely strip the chassis, fully underseal, get the outer sills light rust cut out and new metal put in, and also strip and powder coat all suspension components etc. Essentially the chassis will be clean enough to eat off. I can then relax driving it through winter (kept off road when roads salted), knowing that every surface on the underside has been stripped and fully weather proofed. I’ve received part of the 120k service package - I didn’t realise CZP have the timing belt and water pump on back order when they dispatched rest of the order, so just waiting for that to come in. With the order, I got some new bolts for the engine bay to replace rusty ones - pics will be posted over the next week once I’ve cleaned the engine again. The respray will be put on hold for the time being, until I get a bit more security from work, as it’s all a bit up in the air at the moment. It’s also the thing that’s least needed on the car so I’m not too concerned. The paintwork generally looks that of a 6-7 year old car to be honest, which fits the fact it was resprayed around 2008 and kept garaged with minimal miles after. Anyway point is, it’s not too bad condition, it’s just not absolutely perfect for an obsessive car disorder sufferer like me [emoji23][emoji2957]. Updates to follow next week, inbetween relaxing on the beach and going on lots of drives with the roof off, as it’ll be sunny everyday [emoji2]. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Happy Birthday mate, hope you had a great day [emoji2][emoji323][emoji322] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. The paintwork is absolutely gorgeous - well done sir [emoji1433]. I bet you’re well chuffed after waiting all those years. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Very jealous. I can look forward to doing my engine build the year after next with these types of parts. Plenty of other bits to do first. Your car will be a beast afterwards. What’s the power target? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. I agree - quite alarming as mine was doing this for about a week before i realised what it was and sorted it [emoji50] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. If it’s good enough for you, it’s good enough for me! Thanks a lot for the info [emoji1417] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. I second this, as do probably the rest of the active members.. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Thanks for the advice Andrew, it’s appreciated [emoji1417] I’ve got in mind to do this, change the filter and repaint the slightly rusty filter clamp whilst I’m at it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Yeah these cars are always ongoing to do lists hey. Good thing you told me they need checking every year cos about half the screws weren’t tight. Instantly noticed when we went for a long drive last night that the fuel smell had gone so happy days [emoji1417] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Yeah makes sense now after reading that thread. Will go around all of them and tighten. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Great thanks for this. Will add to my next CZP order. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. I’ve just had this issue for the last week and kept thinking I need to check it out. Good thing I came across this thread as it prompted me to check. After the car had been left to sit overnight, upon cold start this morning I opened the bonnet to check for leaks, and noticed fuel was very slightly leaking out the hose connecting to the fuel filter input side (pic below). Might replace the hose anyway as it has a couple chips at the end. I went for a short drive and when I got home I opened the bonnet and all the fuel leakage had evaporated, because of the engine heat obviously. If I had looked at the engine after it was hot only and not before when it was cold, then I wouldn’t have known where it was coming from, as the leakage stains are so faint, I had my face right up close to be able to see the streaks. So what I’m getting at is, turn engine on when it’s cold and leave for a couple minutes whilst monitoring engine. You might see the fuel seeping out of the offending area. I read up on a random zed thread about fuel system leaks and that the screw clamps can get loose when going through the winter summer temp changes so they need tightening every now and then. Just tightened it up, started car and revved it for a while and now bone dry. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Progress is looking good [emoji1417] Which brand oil cooler did you end up going for and where did you source it from? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. It’s useful to know there’s another source of parts when generally we end up resorting to buying from the states, so cheers for the heads up [emoji1417] @therealnips - It is lazy to use the same picture but I’ve seen that done before on eBay - pees me off equally but oh well. 17. I’ve noticed this - it’s been quite confusing and entertaining at the same time! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. All great advice - cheers all, you masters of the Zed [emoji1417] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Great, thanks for this Andrew.
  20. That's what's been worrying me actually, because these are such vital components, it really needs a specialist doing this kind of work. Cheers for giving me the good kick up the back side I needed! I'll get the parts ordered then arrange the logistics of getting down there and back.
  21. Great thanks for the advice - will definitely do this next time! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. I still can’t quite work out how it got there. It definitely fell inside the door. Baffled! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Full 120k service kit, 3x drive belts, full set of timing cover bolts and some other bolts to replace rusty ones in engine bay will be ordered in the next few days. Although it’s only been around 25k miles (from memory) since the last 60k service, it was carried out 7 years ago in 2013. I’ve seen it should be 60k miles or 48 months. I don’t want to risk it since it’s 3 years overdue and I drive it a lot, so I’m getting it all done for the peace of mind. The timing cover bolts are rusty as per pics which along with some other 2-3 slightly rusty screws really let down an otherwise almost immaculate engine bay, hence why I just got to scratch that ocd itch and replace them. Therealnips recommended his go to guy to me for maintenance such as the above works, but I’ve also got the jap performance specialist who I used for the clutch/flywheel job who’s an equal distance in the opposite direction! Just need to work out who to go for. The recommended guy trained with 300zx’s in the 90’s so I’m very tempted to go that way. The guys in Crawley I used are specialists with evo’s, scoobies and skylines with crazy company project cars like their 2 door 22b style scooby drift car with an rb25 and their altezza engined 70’s Celica. So they are also capable guys, but I’d rather someone who knew the vg30 really well I suppose. When they did the clutch they noticed the starter motor bolts were split which would explain the slight sticking noise. It’s getting worse now but still starts fine. I’ve found a company selling them online link: https://www.startermotor-alternator-store.co.uk/nissan-300zx-starter-motor-s1349-reman-7546-p.asp They appear to have a decent reputation so probably going to go for them. Does anyone else know anywhere better for starter motors? I’ve seen good firms who can rebuild used units but I’d rather go for a ready refurbished unit. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. Was sweeping up the driveway today and noticed the screw in the pile of dirt - what a result! Hurray.
  25. Haha I can imagine! Any of us would be super happy taking on this job. Well keep us all updated and also let us know if you need any feedback or input etc. [emoji1417] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
