  1. Looking super fresh there Gaz [emoji1417][emoji1419] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. I can recommend these pads - saved them to my eBay watchlist after the last time you recommended them Richard. Needed replacements back in November and had them fitted. Been absolutely fine since fitted and they’re so cheap! Bought from that same supplier with quick delivery. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Like one of the comments on the auction site, that mileage is just unbelievable for such an old car. Fantastic condition. I was watching a car channel on YouTube and this guy has an old trans am with no rust on the chassis at all, because it’s a California car. I do get jealous of these people living in dry climates, not having to worry about rust and road salt! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Interesting take on the original. I reckon it would look good if all the same colour so all silver, on a 99 spec Z or one with a wide body kit. I don’t think it would suit an original 89 spec Z though - too modern for that one. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Great cheers, I'll have a good read of the build spec then. Yeah agreed top end power no use on the road really, all about response! Keep us posted, looking forward to the updates ?.
  6. Under stressed engines always last so long so will be really interesting to see what the final set up is and a build spec list one day. So what kind of gremlins as an example, were you having with the current set up? This is all quite interesting to learn really, before I start building my engine! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Engine dynos FTW! Nice work well done [emoji1417]. What’s the target of your build - track/drift/fast road? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. The closest order to your value I did from CZP was around £850 (not dollars) which I got charged £43 import duty for. You will probably be charged less than this I assume. There is a percentage calculation for this but I can’t remember as I haven’t bought from the USA in a while. Any decent cone filter advertised with Z1 should do the job - I guess look for one with good reviews on their website. Usually I’d look for a filter that has heat protection boxing etc to prevent heat soak from the engine bay. Since the z32 has the air filter under the nose cone so access to constant fresh cold air, you don’t have to worry about that so much, as far as I’m aware. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Cheers for this [emoji1417]. Will probs go for the quality hella ones at some point, when it gets a bit warmer. Yeah when I was typing the message before, I was thinking they’re probably one for a micra haha. I used it once when someone peed me off, and was so embarrassed I never used it again [emoji23][emoji23]. Don’t need anything special, just something not pathetic like the oem one hah! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Funny you mention that as I really need to change mine - mine are really quiet and pathetic [emoji1787]. Will buy a set of these hella ones in the future. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Well done - I feel your pain! Since I had the car back from the chassis shop end of November, I’ve driven it a couple times for those few jobs I mentioned on my thread; going back and forth to the garage, then a good test run after etc. They’ve obviously been putting the salt down on the roads the last few weeks, which has been making it difficult to sleep at night knowing it’s on my chassis!! In order to ease my car ocd, today I jacked her up, wheels off, cleaned subframes/suspension and chassis including all the gaps with a bucket with car shampoo, wash mitt, big old brush and hose with those multi function attachments - didn’t jetwash as last time I did that, the underseal started to come off!! Dried it all with towels after as didn’t want the water to sit in this cold. Managed to get it all off and thankfully not much on there. I then washed the paintwork/wheel and dried it fully including all door/boot/bonnet shuts as usual, all ready to go under the car cover again and not come out until salt off the roads. Started about 11 and got indoors at 4 - my backside was so cold I ended up sitting on our kitchen floor for a while, as we got underfloor heating [emoji23]. Leftover takeaway and lots of cake made me feel better afterwards! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Ah sounds good, it’s a job that’ll definitely be worth doing - post up some pictures when you’re done. Good luck with the thermostat - heating is oh so helpful in this weather! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Haha cheers mate, good to have a balance of opinions. Yeah I guess I'll look at all the options available to suit the style in my head and go from there - need to do some more research really. How's your car doing by the way did you end up doing the subframe works and did you sort your heater in the end? (saw a post on it couple weeks back).
  14. Thanks all for the feedback - appreciated as always [emoji1417]. Still not sure on what one I prefer to be honest, so will keep looking at images and hopefully decide in the next month or so. Have always liked twin z design stuff. I’ve got the 99 spec front end going on - been sat in my spare room since March! Joel - read through your project thread and such a shame that Autoresto firm who did the LED’s have stopped trading, as I would 100% have had the tail lights converted. Andrew - thanks for the feedback and offer; I do remember seeing on your project thread I believe, the spoiler fitment modification to prevent that water ingress/rot. Will get in touch about this if I go the oem route. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Cheers guys and yes it’s a difficult one as I’m not a purist, I’m aiming more for OEM+, modernising the car whilst maintaining the Z’s character. Will have a ponder and update with a decision when parts ordered for respray. Darren - we’re thinking that’s all it needs really; a tear down, grease and put back together, so hopefully goes ok today. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. For the respray early next year, I've recently started considering the Twin Z Design - type 1 rear spoiler, instead of refitting my OEM replica one. I'm liking the LED third brake light and the slim design - just modernises the rear end a touch. Originally I thought the OEM spoiler was better as its thicker so would look better suited to my massive exhausts. Decisions, decisions... Need to get the order in for all the external trim and targa seals - looking forward to not having rain dripping on the passenger seat during heavy rain! OEM vs Twin Z spoiler below for reference - I believe Joelyp has one on his Zed too.
  17. I had this issue when originally driving back from the chassis garage, but assumed it was linked to the dodgy subframe bushes, but when at higher motorway speeds, when I brake, the car pulls to the left. My local garage advised when I get the car back home, to check which wheel is hot and with the most brake dust. I ruled it down to the drivers side front wheel. Got her booked in tomorrow to test the callipers and try to resolve the issue; we're assuming it's the K-sport calliper seizing. They were fine before the works, but guess the combination of the car being sat at the garage and now at home unused during winter, has got them behaving badly. If the calliper is shot, I'll opt to fit a full set of Akebono brakes - going to print off the wheel fitment template tonight and test fit tomorrow when at the garage. I was planning on fitting them anyway after Jimmer showed me a set back in summer - they're absolutely massive!
  18. My Zed didn't come with a complete set of targa hold down straps for the boot; the long section was missing. This wasn't the end of the world, but was a bit annoying, as I had to wedge my picnic matt and sun shade around the targa panels, to prevent them scraping the boot plastic trim sections. After looking through eBay and messaging various breakers, I finally found a complete set, and bought them early this month. Ended up sanding them down to bare metal, as they had a fair amount of surface rust. Painted them in the freezing cold in my garage which wasn't the best idea, as the paint found it difficult to cure to a decent finish. Used a hair dryer which seemed to help them cure and then brought then indoors for a couple days to get nice and solid. Got them fitted in the car today - I think that's the right way to put them in; never seen any fitted in person! After the honeymoon period wore off after getting her back from the chassis work, I got her out when the weather was decent and tested at higher speeds. Alignment was definitely not perfect like it was before, as the chassis garage didn't have laser alignment equipment - only the old school box frame and string method. They did say it wouldn't be perfect to be fair. Anyway I took it to my favourite tyre shop who did the alignment back in summer and now after a full 4 wheel laser alignment, all is well again handling wise.
  19. Yep I’m in too. How many cars are needed to secure a club stand? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. The only good thing about that car is the 99 spec rear lights! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Yeah too right! Before the Christmas shopping period, people were pretty sensible surprisingly in Brighton and Hove, but since the shopping season has started, they have lost the plot. We’ve been keeping away from town and busy areas, but had to pop into Brighton town on the weekend. Got there at 8:30 for opening when shops are most empty, and managed to escape by 10ish, which is when the herds of people started flooding in. I don’t think people realise this is the worst disaster to occur in a lifetime. My friend sent me photos of oxford street London and other parts of London and they were absolutely rammed. Keep calm and carry on doesn’t really work with highly contagious viruses. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Haha no worries mate - that’s what this forum is for. So glad I joined as it turned out to be so much more useful than I ever thought - decades of experience, quite literally. I’ve got some more photos so let me know if you need to see anything else at all. Looking forward to seeing yours - I took the easy way out and paid someone else to do the work, although seeing you do yours makes me jealous and wish I had the knowledge/experience to take apart a subframe and put it back together myself! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Thanks mate that’s appreciated. Only trying to make it as clean a car like yours! One day, one day... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. As planned, went to my local garage yesterday and worked with the guy on the zed as his assistant trainee mechanic haha, to drop the rear subframe and replace the subframe bushes. Went for strongflex ones as recommended by the original jap performance garage I used - they said they’re better quality than energy suspension and they weren’t wrong. These bushes didn’t need the metal subframe sleeves or the washers - they were just two solid pieces. Material and finish felt higher quality too, which was reassuring. Armed with a guide from czp and FSM torque specs, we managed to finish it after a long long day. Went for a drive after and all seems to be perfect, thank god! Whilst I was there, me being me, I cleaned up the exhaust and wiped down the newly painted suspension parts. Some pics of old vs new bushes and of the subframe. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. Looking great, so shiny [emoji7]. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
