  1. Yeah my JDM March 1993 has seatbelts on the pillars. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Sorry for the short notice, I won’t be able to make it due to various issues on the car as per my thread. Going to PowerZed on Monday to hopefully get it all sorted! Shame as weather forecast is great - hope you guys have a great time and will join you on the next one. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. That's good to hear - glad your car is in a solid state so no more works to do for now. Guess it's such low mileage, must feel so fresh. The tyres do make the world of difference - had Nexens on the back from the previous owner and I'd always spin the rears off the lights, but no more now though hurray! Great about the wheels - the polished lip looked fantastic when waxed. That shop will do a great job, I've used them 3-4 times in the past and top notch every time. My service history file had a few air leak repairs on the old Veilsides from the past owner - guess it's part of owning older split rims on unforgiving UK roads! Post up some pictures when you've got the wheels back - would be great to see them.
  4. Thanks for the positive feedback - glad to hear you've enjoyed it! Yeah the blue really pops when waxed and kept in good condition, hence why I keep it so shiny haha ?. Definitely is the best way to do things, especially on older cars. Hopefully now though, after the trip to Jim's, it will finally be time for the respray - I've got a spare bed at home filled with the parts waiting to go on! My Zed has always handled excellently and also always been on the stiff side, which I like as I use her for fast drives a lot - also don't have speed bumps near me so that helps hah! The previous owner had fitted new BC racing coilovers, deleted hicas, replaced a few bushes and previous owner before that had done lots such as thicker anti roll bars, diff poly bushes and subframe spacers etc. The handling is now more precise, you get more feedback through the wheel, all aspects of the suspension just feel brand new, which is invaluable. This coupled with the Michellin PS4 tyres results in perfect launches off the lights every time ?. I have however noticed that the rear end does not absorb bumps at high speed well, so I'm going to reduce the stiffness of them next week, which should sort the problem out (they've got adjustable top hats thankfully!). The coilovers were set up by the previous owner to make up for the slack in the old bushes. Now they've all been replaced and that there is no more slack, I believe this is why the rear end is too stiff. Going off on a tangent now, but in short, yes renewing the suspension parts has reduced the softness a little, but after the coils adjustment, it should be what it was before + lots more feedback and confidence. Ah yes the Veilsides - it was a shame as they're a gorgeous wheel and super rare, but yeah I tried everywhere in the UK that was well known and no one could help ? Happy with the JR's though, although not as special wheel in terms of rarity, they suit the car perfectly. That place in NW London I used loads before is called First Aid Wheels - they're great for modern cars, I used to use their exchange service which is fantastic. They seem to do loads of high end cars too. When I was a kid, my older brother had a Skyline with the same colour Veilside Andrews wheels as yours - used to polish up so nice and shiny. Hows your car going so far everything ok?? Looks super clean and in great condition.
  5. Yeah the steel thickness I was wondering about, and I've put it on my 'to ask Jimmer' list, so hopefully he'll have an idea, which as you say, will help me with the course of action. From what Lexx is saying, should be ok either way for now. Unfortunately don't have Conzult yet but should invest in one soon. The idle is weird - it's done it since when I went to view the car at Ollie's, but only when the engine is cold. When warm, it's mostly perfect idle. I've recently read up on the VG's various idle control units - quite complicated so yes going to leave to Jim to hopefully sort!! I could live with it before (as Ollie did in the end) but yeah recently it stalled at the roundabout near my house when cold, so now I definitely want to get sorted. Cheers for the feedback as always ?
  6. Oh phew ok, sounds like I should be ok for a while now.
  7. Thanks for the feedback ? I have indeed covered it in the epoxy - I had it at my mechanics ramp on a Friday all day and left it over the weekend to dry. Put straps back on Sunday night before reopening Monday morning so time was tight. The trials and tribulations of not having my car port sorted - dam neighbour! Ah I see - the Rustbuster instructions and some googling said to do it to bare metal, so thought best follow this - guess in hindsight that rule probably doesn't apply when you got some corrosion in the pitting remaining like I do. I'd usually put on a red oxide/zinc primer like I did on the diff, but yeah the instructions made me think otherwise. Every day is a school day - will use rust inhibitor next time as a base coat. Thats great to know about the original brand being cheaper - did not know this. Applied it to other areas too - It's solid stuff, so quite impressed. I guess all I can do now is take off the straps every year and inspect to make sure it doesn't get worse.
  8. Ticket has been booked. I tried to register on the club stand, but there's an issue with verifying my email link - have contacted them so hopefully can sort.
  9. Last month I took the zed for an oil change and also to take the fuel tank straps off, as I noticed a tiny bit of rust under the tank straps. When I had the suspension bits blasted and painted, I specifically told them to check the tank under the straps, as I’d seen on the forum someone mention they had rust creep up there out of nowhere, which made me a bit paranoid. They blasted and painted the tank straps but didn’t tell me about this rust, which has peed me off [emoji2363][emoji35]. Anyway, I got a wire brush on one of those mechanics air compressor fed drills, and blasted the rust away, as per pics. I think these pics were taken part way through the sanding. The rest of the tank is mint as it’s been undersealed very throughly by previous owners thankfully. There’s a fair amount of pitting in the metal. I covered this area with rustbuster epoxy EM121 to keep it going for now, and left it to harden. I’ve dealt with rust before but never with the metal this pitted. Do you think with this pitting that the tank will be ok? Or will the rust restart eating away again? Would appreciate your thoughts guys [emoji1417] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Your interior is in great condition - well done! [emoji3]. Look forward to seeing more photos as you progress. When is yours booked in at PowerZed? I’m down there in a few weeks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Indeed [emoji1417]. Should hopefully be some of the last works I need to do, to get the car to a solid state hurrah! Everything else has been done either by myself or previous owners. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Yeah he’s got some tasty cars for sale that’s for sure. That Capri is like a time warp - properly cool looking car. Loving the Dodge Challenger and Charger [emoji7]. I saw Harlow Jap Autos who import only the best examples have a stock 300zx TT manual for £25k - super clean Oem example, if that’s more your thing. 13. The preventative maintenance works which I originally planned to get done in October (before these leaks cropped up), are as follows; - New OEM LHD 95 wiring harness; RHD are discontinued and Jim advised against any other aftermarket ones. LHD are longer but do fit. - Series 2 CAS to suit the 95 harness. I noticed the connector pins on my CAS looked smooth but corroded in colour, so thought may as well replace with new whilst I'm there. - OEM knock sensor and sub-harness - Fuel pressure regulator and fuel damper (I have the original almost black coloured items so should be replaced really!) - Fuel filter - New brake master cylinder brace - Replacement brake hard lines from both front callipers as they had some minor surface rust, which I sanded off, covered in rust buster epoxy for now. They had some pitting in them, so thought best to replace. My engine idle when cold has always been terrible. The previous owner tried to resolve it by changing a lot of parts on the usual suspects list such as O2 sensors, coolant temp sensors, spark plugs, but gave up after spending a lot. I've asked Jim to investigate this as it has now gotten worse. I also had an issue with my rear fog light coming on with my headlights! Hopefully this can get sorted too. The aim with the new wiring harnesses and fuel system items, is to ensure the Zed is as healthy as possible, to give me peace of mind, as she will be used regularly until road salt season comes around again. I'm also trying to do the whole modifying thing the correct way around, ensuring the base is solid before building the engine.
  14. I've put the respray back by a month or so, in order to get some essential repairs and maintenance done - driving her a lot over summer is my priority over perfect paintwork. Thankfully Jimmer has a slot coming up in a few weeks, so taking her down there and hopefully get everything sorted. Some pressing matters that need sorting are; We changed the oil a couple of weeks ago and noticed an oil leak from the back of the engine. In addition to this, last October (as per a previous post of mine) just before I took the Zed for the chassis/bushes works, I noticed the drivers floor getting wet after a long drive. At the time, there was on and off rain, so was difficult to work out whether it was an engine leak or rainwater ingress. With little time before dropping her off to the chassis shop and no access to my garage to store her, I stripped the drivers side carpet out on my driveway, dried the floor out - the leaking liquid was clear and smell free to make it even harder to diagnose! I took the fuse box out to access the targa drain outlet as these can get disconnected - this turned out to be connected but I cable tied the join to the outlet to future proof. All fluids like brake fluid appeared to be ok so couldn't tell what was leaking. Ended up running out of time and dropped her off for the chassis work. After that, she sat for Dec, Jan and early Feb to avoid road salt. I'd forgotten about the issue until March when I started driving her more and noticed the wet floor again. I checked the fluids and the coolant appeared to be on the low end, so assuming it is heater core related. The passenger floor however is bone dry - normally passenger side gets wet when its the heater core. Anyhow, without a garage to take the car apart in to diagnose, I've given up and hoping Jim can sort it out.
  15. Just seen BigH's beautiful grey wide body 300zx for sale link: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Nissan-300ZX/393233244116?hash=item5b8e871fd4:g:PD0AAOSwfZ9gaaHi. Considering the amount of money that's been invested, this is great value for money and is definitely up there with my club favourites. Not everyday you see a Zed of this calibre go up for sale, so thought I'd share in case anyone is looking to buy a ready built car; If I was looking, I'd have bought it already!
  16. Great, thanks for that [emoji1417]. Haha I also don’t like the road noise but love the exhaust note especially when flooring it [emoji41]. Hopefully this stuff will help. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. What size pack did you buy of this sound deadening? I see they’ve got about 3-4 different size packs on their website. Might do mine over summer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Simply Japanese would be great to go to - do a club entry if you can. The world of wheels sounds interesting and close to home for us Tom! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Very happy to see they’ve kept the prototypes design [emoji3]. I’ve forgotten about that grill now - seems to have grown on me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Sorry I’ve not been on much recently - I remember you’ve mentioned this before haven’t you. I’d be up for this for sure, maybe not the whole stretch but definitely a good chunk of it. June also quiet at work so ideal. Maybe someone can advertise on the Facebook group and get the word out, as I’m not on Facebook either. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. RIP Sabine - what a legend. Shocked to hear this. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Denbies sounds like a good idea to me - nice amount of parking by looks of it and should be empty on a Sunday morning. Shall we look at meeting earlier perhaps, to avoid traffic as much as we can? Got a bit too busy last time. Depends obviously on how early you can all do. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. I should be able to make it - can’t comment on the above as never been there either! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. Wow I just looked at your before pictures and the difference is amazing - well done, almost there now [emoji1419][emoji1417]. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. Sorry I completely forgot to reply to this but I bought 26.5mm bushes for mine and they fit perfectly. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
