  1. Oh yeah I remember reading about this - not good at all [emoji3525]. Hopefully no cars with rusted brake lines and fuel lines driving around!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Hi Gaz, that’s a bit of a pain isn’t it. We have the same exemption rule but my usual mot place is still doing Mot’s. Some people are deciding to still get them done and some aren’t. Mines due end of July but I’ll probably get it done in late August/early September, after it’s back from Jimmers with the slight oil and power steering leaks fixed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Hi Gaz, just received my pack today, thanks [emoji4] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. [emoji23] this is very true but I thought oh well, just go with the flow. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. When I was thinking about the pros and cons, the noise of the old engine was one of them. Pure American muscle noise! You’ll have to have a long hard think about it for a long time weighing up the pros and cons of each, and maybe try and get in touch with owners of both for more feedback. 6. Im still only new to 300zx ownership so I’m not fully clued up, but the previous owners of my car have fitted sillicone aftermarket hoses everywhere rather than the rubber original Nissan hoses, as they’re prone to more wear than silicone ones, so I’d be more inclined to buy sillicone aftermarket. I know they’re available on the usual American companies (Z1 and CZP), but I’m sure you can find them in the uk if you have a quick google search. More experienced members will I’m sure post up good companies soon. If you don’t get any responses, I’m sure PowerZed will be able to advise where to look. Good luck and let us know how you get on [emoji1417]. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Also@therealnips - you got to go for the modern V8. It will be so so much easier to live with, cheaper to maintain and run. People with big money in the states are taking the 60’s muscle car bodies, and putting them onto modern chassis with all the running gear for this very reason. Best of both worlds in my opinion and worth the extra wait to save up more money. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Absolutely loving your list and I forgot about the 240z!!! That and the early shape 70’s celicas are beautiful. If im talking non jap then the GT40 and the newer 2005 era 5.4 supercharged GT are one of my favourites and was super jealous as a kid of jeremy clarkson when he bought one. The body shape is just heavenly and also you got to love the story behind the GT40. I think ‘Jayemm on cars’ on YouTube featured one of the GT40 kit cars on his channel over the last few months - worth a watch. What will happen to your Zed’s? I hope you’ll keep them still! 9. That’s a complete joke! Funny a couple months ago it took 2-3 weeks to get a small package of clothes from Northampton to Brighton, but it took under a week to get something from CZP. My wife was pissed as the clothes were for her but I was very pleased [emoji23]. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. I agree with you about skylines, supras, Nsx’s all being overpriced. The Nsx was always pricey but the other 2 have just gotten ridiculous now - r32 pricing can be blamed on the bloody Americans and their 25 year rule. 99 spec Rx7’s, just like the Z32 are my favourite of the various guises because of the small but effective changes to the lights as per below pics - gorgeous! It’d be great as a second sports car to blast round a track. Couldn’t be known to be an Mx5 owner though!! [emoji1787] Nissan S body cars are a bit tin can ish for me and used and abused by all the drifting guys. Never appealed to me having a 4 pot turbo when you could get a 6 cylinder TT. Evo’s and their physics defying Ayc and other chassis black magic is something else I tell ya. Don’t see many scoobies round here but they do have a bad rep. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Interesting options here; got to say I do see me owning a r35 gtr one day because of their outright capabilities. I do love the philosophy of the vipers too - simple, effective and the body lines are fantastic. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. They are beautiful cars and I think the early models with some bbs lm’s to fill the arches look epic. Yeah I wouldn’t think the engine would make it as quick as our cars but that vtec must sound great. Lovely cars. What a fantastic era of cars hey. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Being a 300zx forum, obviously we all love the Z32 otherwise we’d be driving something else, but it’d be interesting to know what other 90’s Jap cars would come close to the Z32 in your wish lists/dream car garage? I’m thinking cars such as the below; - Skylines of all shapes - Rx7’s Fc3s and Fd3s - Supra - Soarer - Nsx - S2000 - Impreza - Evo - Gto/3000gt - Celica Gt4 - Other type R Hondas; civic/integras For me personally my dream car garage would be as follows and reasons why; 1) Z32 300zx TT - because it’s perfect! 2) Rx7 Fd3s with a 20b triple rotor - noise, ease of power, handling and beautiful shape 3) Nsx facelift model of the 2000’s - beautiful shape and pure NA v6 vtec 4) Soarer 1jz manual - very marmite cars I know! - tuning capability, JZ noise, clean body lines and tank like construction 5) S2000 - lightweight, vtec and handling Feel free to say why you like your chosen models as that’d be interesting also. 14. I experienced that with CZP actually. I’ve generally ordered on a Friday and got delivery the following Monday or Tuesday which I think is fantastic for the distance! FedEx parcel tracking is very helpful too. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. What an absolute pain I’ve had for the last two weeks almost. After fitting the remanufactured starter motor, it worked great for the first 2 days then the starter wheel stopped fully engaging with the flywheel, so it was grinding my beautiful specialty z flywheel. I stopped driving it for a week until a replacement turned up. The supplier thankfully didn’t argue and paid postage for me to return the starter and get a full refund, so although it was a pain for it to not work properly, I can’t fault their service. On top of this, I was laid in bed for last/this week with a bad leg so it’s actually been pretty good timing - last couple days my legs healed up. Me and the car must be in sync for breaking and healing at the same time! [emoji23] So I ordered another starter last Friday 3rd which was due this Monday just gone. I told the guy I’d pay extra to get it on Saturday 4th but he said no don’t worry, the free postage will give you Monday so I thought ok fair enough. Monday came and went and no sign. I messaged him Tuesday then he says oh sorry our supplier let us down so we’ve been delayed - thought oh that’s great, nice of you to let me know!! I was then told it would be posted Wednesday and arrive Thursday (yesterday). Thursday came and went and no sign. It turned up this morning at 8:30. It’s my wife’s birthday so we were supposed to be leaving on a 160 mile round trip to see her friends and wanted to take the Zed. I Managed to call my garage who I’m very friendly with and get it replaced this morning very quickly. New starter is working all good, for now... Got the car booked into PowerZed finally for mid August to do the following; - 120k service - replace the power steering reservoir return hose which has started falling apart at the top - sort a minor oil leak - try and sort my door locks This’ll then give me peace of mind mechanically. Chassis restoration work will probably follow on from this in late August or September. I was walking back to the Zed in a car park after paying the ticket and just stopped in awe and started taking loads of pictures. The lighting really amplifies our beautiful cars body lines... On another random note, I was on eBay and popped up in my suggested items were Japanese performance magazines - my brother used to buy them and give them to me starting from when I was about 10-11 years old. I screen shotted a copy which was one of the first copies I ever read. Brought back so many memories from when my Jap car love affair first got going, dreaming about buying one of these cars one day haha and 15 or so years later and here we are... There’s a nice white track 300zx in that copy. I’ve still got about 30 copies in the loft - didn’t realise they’re worth £3-£4 a copy still which is madness since that’s the new price back in the day. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Yep TK3 it is indeed, but Andrew beat me to it! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. I see - thanks for the advice, it’s appreciated [emoji1417]. In an ideal world, I would like to take the throttle linkage items apart I.e all the bits in your photo to get it all newly plated, especially after seeing Chris300’s project thread. Being a new Zed owner, I’m always a bit nervous about breaking something, but will hopefully learn soon how to take it all apart the correct way and get it refinished. 18. Ah that’s interesting - thanks for the heads up. Good thing Joel told me to apply a clear coat to it. Hopefully it will protect them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Hiya, going off on a bit of a tangent here, but I remember you saying you were going to use the rustbusters kit on your suspension parts. Did you get far with this and what’s your thoughts of the kit? Did you manage to take any pics? Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Your car is so dam clean Gaz - well done on the magazine feature! [emoji1433]. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Thanks mate! Just got a small bit of household sand paper and lightly sanded the springs, and the corrosion came straight off. I ripped bits of plastic carrier bags to wedge in underneath and around the springs to cover the surrounding areas. Then sprayed 2 coats of Halfords engine clear paint. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Thanks Gaz, it’s appreciated [emoji1417]. You’re right - the devil is definitely in the detail. The engine will slowly get cleaner as I learn how to remove certain parts of the engine bay to get access, as time goes on. I went with the oem bolts at the last minute as all mine are rusted and washers cracked - in hindsight I probably should have forked out the extra and got one of those ‘Z-Spec’ engine dress up bolt kits... Something for next year I guess then! Also I like the idea of some engine tucking like the fuse box and power steering reservoir relocations to below nose panel, as it is a bit of a faff in there. Let’s see what happens.. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Great to hear this! Good luck with the build and as Ian has said, please post pictures and keep us all updated. Any queries, I’m sure most people will be able to help. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. Received my full order from CZP now for the 120k service kit, ancillary belts, a power steering return silicone hose and some engine bay bolts to replace rusty items. Gave the engine bay a good clean yesterday. The throttle linkage springs had surface rust all over them. I thought they would need replacing but Joelyp advised they could just be scrubbed clean and covered with an engine heat proof clear coat paint, so that’s exactly what I did. It looked horrendous before (a ‘before’ pic is included below) as that was the first thing you saw but now all nice and shiny [emoji3]. Rusty bolts gone and new ones fitted. I bought a full new set of oem timing cover bolts as they are seriously crusty but they won’t be going on until the 120k service is carried out. Starter motor case had the bolts which hold it together missing somehow - only found out when the garage doing the clutch and flywheel at start of June had told me. It’s been starting straight away since I bought it but always made a sticky sound for a split second straight after starting, which was probably caused by this. I gambled and bought a refurbished starter from a supposedly reputable company - ‘the starter motor and alternator company’. It was £155 so £55 more than the one fitted to my car by the previous owner 2 years ago, so let’s hope it was worth the extra money! Some pics of old/new starter motor and engine bay below. Forgot to take a pic of the new starter but I’ve put in the advert pic which is exactly the same condition as the one I received. Just waiting on some of my shares to hit the right price before I sell and arrange the chassis restoration work - will update when arranged. Need to call PowerZed too to arrange date for the service. 25. I’ve actually got the exact same sticker on my car and in the same position - the rear drivers side window. It’s got a slightly worn out look like yours but almost looks like it’s always been that way. I’ve seen them for sale on the CZP or Z1 websites I’m sure. Not sure if it’s an original sticker or fitted by the uk owners. I’ll check the back of mine to see if it has anyone’s name on it and take a picture tomorrow. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
