  1. Hi Car.Mad, Will check the plugs and coil packs as you suggest. Do not have a EBC Medallion Man, though I do see your point with regards to it being a solenoid issue of some sort. I think it is something linked to a short somewhere on the warm up stage. Does the exhaust temperature sensor fire the solenoid that sends warm air through to the cats so as to aid emissions? Hi Kope, Sorry about the terminology. What I meant by Bog Down was that as I try to move forward she almost stalls, this happens several times until she has warmed up.
  2. Yeah, definitely bogs, almost stalls unless I catch the clutch in time. must say though, sounds more electrical to me, as if there is a sensor rapidly firing a solenoid valve, once warm it goes away though???
  3. Can anyone help please? When I start the "Z" from cold, as soon as I touch the accelerator pedal I get a rapid clicking noise and she bogs down as I pull away. I think the noise is coming from behind the bulk head in the engine bay on the drivers side. Almost as if it was coming from the dash itself. Strange thing is, it does not happen once she is warm!! Can anyone shed some light please? as it is driving me mad!!
  4. Can anyone recommend a good in car radar trap/speed camera detector? Looking forward to getting the Zed on the road again this summer and giving her some serious welly, just don't want to be done by the hidden speed traps etc'
  5. Initially I would look at cleaning the various connectors under the bonnet, particular the Yellow connector attached to the Auxiliary air unit. (Rear of the engine, right hand side as viewed from the front.) Following that I would set the base idle, Remove the Yellow connector when running and set the idle to approximately 600rpm. Re connect the yellow connector and the ECU should lift the RPM to somewhere around 850 to 900rpm. Worth trying this first and see if it has any affect, let us know as there are numerous other things that may be at fault.
  6. MER polish on a damp cloth should do the trick, will need a bit of elbow grease mind.
  7. Thanks Guy's. Thought I was in for a sleepless night there for a minute.
  8. Re fitted my reconditioned front brake callipers today, problem is I have just realised that the last time I bled the brake system, I inadvertently used DOT 4 as opposed to DOT 3 brake fluid. Should I top up with 3 or stick to 4? Worst still, do I need to re fill the system with DOT 3? If I do top up with 4 will there be any long term adverse affects?
  9. Wow, those emissions are good, how did you manage to get them that low? especially the Co!
  10. I hate air guns also where wheel nuts are concerned, you can sometimes end up with a nut either end. lol I have settled with a tyre shop that only uses torque wrenches. Still take off the locking nuts myself mind.
  11. Just looked through my receipts for the replacement sills etc' (2008) Bought from Mike (JP Eastern Autos) see traders section. Front outer sill, £173.00 each. per side. Front inner sill, £88.00 each. per side. Front outer sill reinforcement panel, £34.00 each. per side Order well in advance, I think mine took up to 6 months to arrive. As for the rear section of the sill, (outer panel +reinforcement panel) I think I paid something like £45.00 the pair. per side Bought them from a chap on E-Bay. can't remember his name, something like, littlebird. very good fit I might add. Maybe some of the guy's on here will know more.
  12. OK Just to be sure, When I described the front right rising first, it was as I was looking from the front of the car. (front nearside) When looking at the back from behind the car it was the rear nearside that is low. Does that still mean a dud shocker?
  13. Thought about the level as you say, nice level garage base. So are we saying it could be a rear shock problem? MOT in a couple of months and after the nightmare I had last year I could do with a first time pass.
  14. Each time I jack Zed up at the fount, no matter how central the jack is, the front right wheel always comes up an inch or so off the ramp before the left side. Once I have settled her onto axle stands, again equally spaced, the left rear side of the car is noticeably lower. (between an 1" and 2"') at a guess. (as viewed from the back.) Any suggestions peep's
  15. Here's another one that I have found usefull. http://www.ttzd.com/izcctech.html
  16. Hi Mastercookieman, Glad you find my post helpful. When I first took the plunge, I too was mortified at the task that lay ahead. All I told myself was, if I don't do anything then that would be the end of my Z ownership. so I thought "What Have I got to loose?" Up until that point I had not done anything remotely like this before. so I just went 1 step at a time. As for the new panels, I only bought the outer sill sections front and rear (as pictured in your previous post) plus an inner support/strengthening panel for the front sills which can be tricky to fit. Other than that I fabricated the rest, It may look difficult, but once you get going it's not to bad. (just be prepared to make several attempts before you get it right.
  17. Going back to your original question, how many sections? I have posted some pictures that I took when I repaired mine.
  18. I think they are fitted with none return valves, Maybe stuck open? Do they spray strait away or do they have to build up pressure first?
  19. Glad to see you are going for it. As you have seen, I have done very similar, So if you need any advice or information, give us a shout mate. Good luck.
  20. Feel for you and your family mate.
  21. My insurance is coming up for renewal soon Dave@fj. Can you offer a 6 months road use and a 6 months laid up policy? Basics, Age 52 Full no claims Full use of a daily driver, Escort GTI Garaged. Less than 1000 miles per annum Value, £2,000 Car, UK TT Targa 1992 What do you think?
