  1. Very nice Groover, Is the triple guage pod custom? If not, where did you get it? (if you don't mind me asking)
  2. Success! managed to get it all back together. (what a nightmare!) Poured a glass of water down the targa inlet and hey presto! water came out of the drain slots in the front wing! I guess I had better do the passenger side now then!! Cheers guy's
  3. Thanks Baz, Will do. At last the little bu**er (fuse box) is out of the way. The piggy back connectors all come off in a forward direction, The trick is to use a thin narrow bladed screwdriver (no more than 3mm wide) to prise the barb on the back of the connector away from the raised step on the fuse box side. This is done by inserting the screwdriver in from the front, (blade level to the base of the connector) and making sure you are under the barb. Then it is a matter of applying pressure as if you are trying to separate the connector from the box whilst at the same time pulling the connector forward. It took me a few attempts but once I had done one, the others were easy. Now all I have to do is get at the pipe work by way of removing the soundproofing etc' and re connect the dreaded pipe. By the Baz, If I have skipped some areas that you are interested in before you attempt yours, give us a shout. Once I had got passed the problem with the piggyback connectors it was fairly straight forward. (Just bl**dy fiddly and uncomfortable)

  5. I managed to buy one a little while back from the states, Cost me about £60 all in. (e-bay) Worth every penny.
  6. Decided to tackle the dreaded targa drain pipe leak in the drivers side foot well. Managed to get the majority of the connectors etc out of the way and then hit a big problem. How do I detach the piggyback connectors that are attached to the fuse box? Do they slide forward or back wards? the last thing I want to do is break anything!! Also, will I need any special tools? Thanks in advance, lets hope the weather holds as I am stuck on the drive.

  8. Well, just managed to SHOOT myself in the foot!! Managed to drill the heads off the screws, only to realise the screw needs to be removed before the bl**dy unit will come out!!! Arrrggghhh!!
  9. Cheers Steams, Hopefully will have the blank out tonight and will know for sure, although I know you are right. I am just clinging to a glimmer of hope as my wiring expertise is not great. Should know for sure soon.
  10. Yep, it is a UK tt targa 1992. I am just in the process of drilling out the rusty screws that hold the blank in place. If it is the case that I can not just plug the break light in, is it an easy wiring job? or will there be nowhere to take the power and switching wire from? I've always fancied a third break light, it will be a pi**er if it's not possible.
  11. If I remove the central blanking part of the rear spoiler, will the wiring be there for me to connect a third break light? can I just connect it and away I go?

  13. Mmmm, Was she running OK prior to fitting the new plugs? The only reason I ask is, you may have disturbed the O ring at the end of the balance bar closest to the valve.
  14. With the yellow connector disconnected, is it possible to set the base idle?
  15. Suspect a gasket may have failed somewhere on the unit itself.
  16. Seem to remember someone having a similar problem not so long back, I think it turned out to be the connections to the fuel injectors had been mixed up. Maybe worth a look.

  18. I thought I should share this with everyone.:whistling: Having successfully bled the clutch, I moved on to adjusting the travel in the pedal. I mean, how difficult can it be?:excl: Well after removing the front seat, (Jea*^s there are heavy!) along with some of the dash, I managed to crawl under the dash to see what lay ahead. (felt like I was tunnelling out of Auschwitz) Anyway, with one 14mm spanner and some long nose pliers, I set about winding out the screw bit by bit. After 3 or 4 adjustments and climbing in and out to test there was still no improvement? Now here's the funny bit, The break pedal was absolutely brilliant!!:blushing: After salvaging my tools from down the drive and my face returning to it's natural colour, I set about the even harder task of adjusting the CLUTCH pedal. Talk about confined and awkward or what? I have to say, it was well worth the effort and discomfort mind. Clutch feels great!!
  19. Might be worth getting someone to apply pressure on the door from the outside at the lock area at the same time as unlocking, maybe the latch is miss aligned and fouling as it tries to release. Worth trying this in conjunction with Ossian's idea of lifting the door.
  20. Decided to bleed the clutch to see if it would take up any of my excessive pedal travel, Bled it from both points and it reduced the travel by half, Does this mean I can adjust the rest of the travel out from under the dash? One thing that I have noticed since bleeding, is that I get a squealing noise through the full length of the pedal travel, a bit like a rusty hinge. Is there any way I can grease/oil the offending parts?
  21. When I lightly rev the engine, as she comes down from say 2000rpm I get what can only be described a dry bearing squeal. Could this be the cam belt tensioner bearing? or am I looking at something more sinister? If it is the cam belt bearings, is it possible to oil/grease them? If so, how big a job is it?

Not sure if this is a coincidence, but while I was poking around under the bonnet, I noticed one of the solenoid valves close to the clutch servo unit had a bottom hose missing. rummaged around and found the offending hose and reconnected it. Guess what? no more problem. Coincidence or have I fixed it? Also, while I was at it. I noticed that one of the larger hoses from the servo to the balance bar was very loose and had a slight split at one end, so I cut it back and re clipped it. Made a big difference to the idle stepping down nicely as she warmed up! A good day for a change me thinks! Thought it was worth sharing.
  23. Before you go to far, take a look at all of the small black 4mm hoses, sounds to me that maybe one of them might have come adrift somewhere. Look at the bottom hoses on the valves first. Sorry Steams, You must have just posted this as I was typing my reply up. Did not mean to contradict you.
