  1. How is your clutch fluid level? It maybe that you will need to bleed the clutch. If you press the pedal repeatedly does the free travel become less?
  2. So have I. lol. I lied about my age. That will teach them to miss sell me PPI. lol Only 3 years really. Maybe then I will be able to lavish some goodies on the Zed.
  3. Yeah, in 6 months time I will be closer to 60 than 50! Oh no! Mind you, I am still a daft 18 year old in my head though! lol
  4. Guys, thanks for the help! Believe it of not, I got the bl@@dy thing off. (Without strangling the wife as well!) Lol My intention is to split the lights and polish/clean everything. Does anyone know where I can source the correct sealant?
  5. When ever she is running at idle I have had the vacuum virtually all the way over to the left. Maybe the oil leakage is happening due to me revving the engine a few time once warm?
  6. z32bolt, Unfortunately the car is SORN at the moment so I am unable to give her a good run. Best not run her at all maybe? Not really sure what is best as the car is in storage for 6 month of the year. It's the only chance I get to do repair work etc' cheers guys
  7. Cheers znut, It's not a great deal of oil pushing through, but definitely coming through the crack. As for PCV valves, I changed them less than 100 miles ago. I must be getting positive pressure somehow.
  8. You mean to say that there are jobs worse than this!! more Arrrrgggghhhhh lol
  9. Well I must be missing a trick here. How the hell are you supposed to remove the passenger headlight without taking the whole car apart?? Driving me mad!! Any suggestions would be appreciated. As it stands at the moment, I can't see anyway around dropping the recirculation valve just to get access to the last bolt. Is there an easier way? Talk about frustrating or what.
  10. Cheers guys for the feedback. I will leave her running a little more today and see what happens. I will also check the water for contamination later as Mark suggests. One thing I have noticed, (not sure if it is relevant) is the filler cap has a small crack in it across the centre, and when she is running I can see oil being pushed out. Albeit it very very slight. Also, thought I would take a couple of photos inside the filler neck as well. looks like the milky stuff is just confined to the cap.
  11. Thought I would run the car up for a little while as it has not been run for a few weeks. After about 20 minutes or so I did the obligatory fluid checks etc' On removal of the oil filler cap I noticed what can only be described as a milky white deposit on the underside of the cap. Is this normal due to the fact that she has been standing?
  12. Nice one Jeff. That looks like about the tightest work space on a zed ever!! I hope the hands recover soon.
  13. Cheers Groover, a new Ariel it is then. My problem is that I am not familiar with this area of the car. Earlier I did remove the panels so as to get an idea of what I was looking at but I am not sure where you are referring too. Eg where do I find the carrier and the nut to release it? Once I understand that part of the removal I will hopefully start to understand the rest. Sorry for the questions.
  14. To cut a long story short, in a bizarre set of circumstances I have managed to trash my Ariel with my garage door! My question is, can I just replace the telescopic section or will I have to swap out the whole unit? Whichever option it has to be, can anyone explain how to go about it please?
  15. I used to love my Hillman imp. Sadly not the one in the picture.
  16. I would change both inner and outer while you are at it. It's likely that both are contributing to the movement, I found that the inners were worse than the outers on mine. Mind you, they were 20 years old though. Well worth doing, even if it is a bit of a pain.
  17. Also, I think you can get the year of manufacture from the label on the seat belts.
  18. Not sure if this has been posted, but this is the e mail address of the guy I got my replacement panels from. (excellent quality and fit) stephen@sbrooks43.orangehome.co.uk
  19. Came across this today, thought it might be of interest. http://www.nissan-techinfo.com/deptog.aspx?dept_id=39
  20. As z32bolt said, try pulling the lighting relays. Top row of two left relay and second row down far left relay. Main fuse box under the bonnet.
  21. Sorry to hear about this Russ. Gutted for you mate! as for sending it back? I think the sale declared it as "for parts or not working" I am sure there will be a radio/electrical repair shop somewhere who can sort it mate. I will do some shopping around in my neck of the woods, you never know.
