Passenger Headlight removal!! Arrrrggghh
Thanks Spin Doctor/Steams. Well, It was a toss up between the Sound of Music or more work on the Nissan! Mmmmmm You guessed it, here is a bit of an update. Thought I would post a bit of a before and after. Oh, and before anyone mentions it, I have not missed cleaning the fixing holes. It's just that I can not find my pipe cleaners. lol. (OCD or what?)

Passenger Headlight removal!! Arrrrggghh
At the risk of becoming boring, I thought I would assemble the adjuster block ready for final fitting. Turns out that there will be no need for any shimming. If anything, they are a bit pre loaded when built up on the housing. I will probably run them in a bit by hand prior to fitting the headlamp. (just to ease the tightness) Also, I will pack them with grease on assembly.

Passenger Headlight removal!! Arrrrggghh
Totally understand where you guys are coming from, It's just that I wanted to check, replace and re grease the O rings at the same time. I thought as I was not looking to tackle this job again any time soon, I might as well go the whole hog. Looking forward to shimming the gears soon so as to get the best mesh also. I think I will pack the housing with grease when I come to finally assembly.

I thought as I have come this far, I might as well swap the plastic adjuster gears for the steel ones I bought a little while back. I have read a couple of how too's and rather than risk breaking anything, I dismantled the shafts so as to make it easier to press the shaft from the gear. I have not pressed the steel one on as yet, as this is just a scrap shaft I was practising on.

Passenger Headlight removal!! Arrrrggghh
Well, I have stripped both headlights now and I think the internal reflectors are all shot. Does anyone know if these can be bought seperately as new? Alternatively, can they be re coated? I have tried polishing but to no avail.

Seals which ones do i need?
Can you tell if it is coming through where the door glass makes contact with seal? The reason I ask is, the door glass may need adjusting so as to make a better contact between the two. (guide rollers are prone to wear.) IE more pressure between the glass and the seal.

Passenger Headlight removal!! Arrrrggghh
Cheers Medallion Man, :thumbup1: I have managed to strip out the projector lens so I can clean the reflector and lens. Good news is that the lens comes up quite nice, the bad news is that the reflectors are shot! :helpsmilie: So would definitely appreciate your offer mate. I will pm you next week and we can sort a price out etc' In the mean time, if there is anyone out there with some smashed/scrap lights knocking about with salvageable internals, please let me know.

Oem pinstripe
If nobody replies sooner, I will measure mine in the morning and let you know. The mrs plans on dragging me to the in laws first thing so it may be later on though. I will try and sneak into the garage before she gets up.

Passenger Headlight removal!! Arrrrggghh
Made some more progress today. Managed to get the left hand headlight stripped down, even separated the lens from the casing!! well chuffed. Now here comes the questions. As you can see, the main beam chromed reflector is somewhat crazed, It seems solid enough but would like to correct it. What are my options? Also, I have noticed a lot off grime on the reflector behind the projector lens, is this easy enough to get at by removing it from the casing? I have not cleaned this type of chromed plastic before, so any advice would be appreciated.

low fuel levellight
Does the fuel gauge read full? Maybe worth checking the connectors at the sender unit. Although I have not had the same problem, mine were particularly corroded. As for a replacement unit, they vary on e bay from £15 to £40

Thought I would take a look at the connections while I had everything in pieces. I was shocked at the degree of corrosion, to say the least. Decided to apply a bit of chemistry to get rid of the green build up. Using a small kids paint brush, I applied white vinegar to the male and female connections. As this is an acid, I anticipated it dissolving the corrosion. I must say, the results were better than anticipated.

Some really helpful links and advice guys. Cheers. Thought I would clean things up a bit ready for when I put the lamp back. Does anyone know where I can get the foam inserts from, the ones that are glued in behind the lamp. Mine have perished somewhat.
