  1. Just bought a nice and handy 1/4" drive ratchet and extensions. (britool as well) Now known as " the marque of skill" Absolute god send for getting into difficult places on the Zed's engine bay! So chuffed I thought I would share. It has even got push button release so those little sockets stay put. I got it off e-bay believe it or not.
  2. Glad you got it sorted! I too found that my car felt more planted once I had done mine.
  3. I did try this on my first attamept, but the flange is faily weak and it distorted under the load. I may have had it out of square mind. Would recommend the shrink fit personally. If you get the temperatures correct, it just pops in. I think my gear puller may still have some life left in it. You are welcome to borrow it if you want. Just let me know and I will post it to you.
  4. When pressing the ball joint out, add a little heat to the ally. It will help ease the press fit. The last thing you want to do is score the bores. I left my hub on and used heat and a gear puller once I had ground the front shoulder off. When it comes to popping the new ones in, I would strongly recommend you put them in a sealed food bag lightly oiled and leave the in the freezer over night. When you are ready to put them in, warm the arm up so that it is too hot to touch and quickly pop them in. They should go straight home up-to the shoulder.
  5. If they are anything like mine were, the bl**dy hammer won. (or a combination of the two?) Also, have you checked for play at the rack? usually they wear before the ball joint. I would recommend changing both ends mate, I had to in the end so as to get rid of excessive wheel movement. Also, I was given some very helpful tips on removal and re fitting. Happy to share when you get to the point.
  6. Sorry, I did not realise that the side glass is tinted. As mentioned in an earlier post, mine is a UK model so will not match by the sound of it.
  7. Is the door glass scratch free? Will it fit a 1992 UK Lwb tt?
  8. Cheers Mike. Price and delivery? Need them by the end of week for JAE. Any chance?
  9. I hear what you are saying there z32bolt. I cut so much off to remove the bl**dy clip, I will need a new pipe! Can anyone help me with a replacement so as I can get it fitted before the week-end please? I would prefer to go with an OEM pipe as opposed to using standard water hose due to the confined space. Taking note of earlier advice, I could do with a replacement for the second pipe in the picture as well. At least then I can tick them both off the to do list while I have the access.

  11. It's OFF!! mind you, I did have to cut it close to the clip so as to allow me to get my curved long nosed pliers in. Also had to remove a couple of more bits so as to gain access. Although it is in 2 pieces now, you can still see the splits.

  13. Well several layers of skin later and still no joy!! How the hell am I supposed to get the rear spring clip off?????? All this grief for a relatively inexpensive piece of rubber!!

  15. Cheers z32bolt! I will follow your advice over the winter months, cheers mate! After an hour or so, I think I have tracked down the culprit! Not 100% sure, but I think these must be the 2 pipes supplying cooling to the turbo as Mark eluded to earlier. If so, I am hoping that I may be able to cut it back slightly and re fit for now. I will take it off though and check it all over just to be sure. I will add photo's in a mo.

  17. Can you select a different COM port within Conzult settings? I am not really up on PC's but if your usb port is COM1 them would your serial port be something different? say COM2 As I say, I am not really up on these things but I seem to remember having a similar issue with my Data-Scan software.

  19. Thanks guys, It seems as though it could be 1 of a number of pipes that could have let go then. I guess that I will just have to work my way down from the top and see how it goes, checking each hose/connection 1 by 1 I am hoping it will be a quick fix for now as I was hoping to go to JAE this year, (weather permitting) after that the car will be SORN for the winter. Then, bit by bit It makes sense to swap all the old hoses for new I guess. As you say winnoze, until we change the lot, we will not feel that confident that another will not let go just when we least expect it. I was lucky this time being close to home. (maybe the Z is trying to tell me something?) Spanners out then. I will post pictures later if people are interested.
