Car went for mot today and mot put down as adviser cas he wasnt sure. I said ill find out.the rear hicas. Should that be solid and have no movement in it when the car is swtched of and rear wheels off ground.or is that the norm and there is a little play with wheels haning? Cheers

Should be no play in it at all.

Sounds like you've got a worn bush or ball joint somewhere.

As above, inner or outer joint will need replacing...or both if it's screwed completely.

Quite poss but it looked like the play was comming from there cas the slight movement allowed to move in hicas long unit thing were the rods go into the rubbers

I would change both inner and outer while you are at it.

It's likely that both are contributing to the movement, I found that the inners were worse than the outers on mine.

Mind you, they were 20 years old though.

Well worth doing, even if it is a bit of a pain.

are we talking bull joints or hycas joints inners and outers here

 

You need to get the car off the ground and then get a pry bar in to find where the wobble is coming from. Every joint and bush should be rock solid with no play at all.
