jwrag2000 Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 Hello fellow ZedHeads. Came across a 300zx for sale on gumtree (or scumtree as some would call it), ad claims it's 1998 but don't they have the later style bumper. Also mileage of 38000, can this be taken seriously considering the age, origin and price. Opinions, worth a look? http://www.gumtree.com/p/cars-vans-motorbikes/nissan-fairlady-300zx-twin-turbo-manual/1036546953 Quote
roobarb Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 They started fitting the 99 spec bumper in October 98 Quote
groover Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 Ask him what the registration number is, and it will state the year on the vin plate. Quote
Funkysi Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 (edited) They started fitting the 99 spec bumper in October 98 With a different spoiler/no spoiler. QNO (pearl white) was painted on post 94 cars (series 3). This has blue tint glass which I think replaced the bronze tint on all series 4 models. There's no reason why this shouldn't be a 98 car as series 5 was built for most of that calender year, it was only late 98 that the 99 model year (series 6) was put into production. But without seeing the VIN and interior, it's hard to tell. Series 5 cars came with 99-spec style switchgear too (toggle style electric window switches. If it is a series 5, it would have a date of manufacture sometime in early 97 to the middle to back end of 98. The e/w switches would be the giveaway. If it didn't have those, it's likely it's a series 4. I'd say that car is an absolute bargain! The first thing I'd do however would be to remove those horrible ebay tail lights and fit some OEM clear front indicator lenses and 99 spec tail lights.. Edited October 31, 2013 by Funkysi Quote
redwine300 Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 Also, I think you can get the year of manufacture from the label on the seat belts. Quote
Funkysi Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 Also, I think you can get the year of manufacture from the label on the seat belts. Seatbelts were built in batches. Because this could be the last of the 98 models, it could have seatbelts manufactured several years prior. Quote
Medallion Man Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 the only real way to check the year is by the Chassis number... all other components can be replaced.... i know this list only goes up to 97 but that should confirm its not an older one... http://www.pexcom.com.au/z32cms/e107_plugins/content/content.php?content.79 Quote
AndrewG Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 Why has the car got UK/Euro Nissan badge on front and UK/Euro indicator sidelights? Quote She's so fine, there's no tellin' where the money went - Simply irresistible.
Stephen Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 I spotted that Andrew, the whole front end looks uk spec! Unless it's had a smash? Really you would have to view it but something seems a miss with that car too me. Quote
