  1. Just found this in my box of bits, is this the correct part I need? So it will stick out the crank?
  2. I started the rather unusual task today of putting an auto gearbox into a zed that was originally an auto but had a manual conversion. I removed the manual pilot bush and was left with this. It seems to be the right size for the auto shaft, but is this the correct set up? I ordered an auto bush from CZP but as you can see it doesn't seem to for anywhere! Seems to be the same internal diameter as whatever is on the crank at the moment, and fits on the torque converter shaft. Oddly CZP and Z1 seem to have different part numbers for this bush. So am I missing something?!?
  3. Yep mine did. I don't want to put words in his mouth but I think he thought Japspeed ones were just as good basically. If it makes you feel better even Funkysi said Megan products are normally alright when he looked at mine
  4. Wasting money on the Z1 downpipes IMO. Megan ones from CZP are almost $100 cheaper, just had them fitted to mine. Jimmer advised me not to bother with Z1's in the past and get Japspeed, and thinks the Megan ones he's just fitted are a good alternative to Japspeed's https://conceptzperformance.com/megan-racing-v2-4-bolt-downpipes-nissan-300zx-90-96-twin-turbo-tt-z32-mr-ssdp-n300-v2-dp_p_28564.php
  5. The rubber what?!?
  6. Didn't have a new clutch actually as my current one had only done a few thousand miles, not actually sure if the release bearing was changed but I'm convinced Jim would have checked it and put a new one in if he didn't like it! I don't think it could be that anyway as the noise stops when the clutch is down
  7. Yes gonna see what the second place says and take it from there. I'd love to just buy a brand new gearbox from the states, car deserves it really, but a bit too pricey for me at the moment!
  8. Been a bit quiet recently but things have been happening in the background! Car has been to Powerzed for a service (cambelt, plugs etc) and it's manual conversion! Jim thought it was a very solid car and was very impressed with the engine particularly, said it pulls amazingly for a stock engine, so I'm rather pleased with that assessment  got one of his refurbished clutch boosters fitted as well so it's much nicer than my old one where it was broken. Jim did an excellent job and am really happy with it :thumbup1: Funkysi was there as well when I went to pick it up and was nice to meet him and have a chat. Unfortunately though I had a bit of a debacle with my gearbox in the end. To cut a long story short SVS in cardiff, who it went to first and who said they had experience with the boxes, literally gave up trying to make it work after reassembly after having it for about 8 weeks and messing me about no end :cursing: they couldn't get it to change gear smoothly, said they couldn't afford to spend any more time on it so gave up. Didn't charge me anything, not that I would have paid! So then it went to a place nearish Powerzed that Jim knew. They fixed the gear change for a grand total of £80, so was pretty pleased with that initially. When Jim got it back to fit, it came with a box of parts from the first place SVS that they had replaced, and Jim reckoned it was about £1k worth of stuff! He couldn't believe they had given me those parts for free. Well I was rather pleased with this of course. Except that as I pulled off the motorway on my way home it started making horrible noises in most gears :( I'm sure it must be the gearbox as it stops when you put the clutch down and revving the engine makes no noise at all, and the noise changes in each gear. A real shame as I'm so pleased with the conversion itself (the auto's are dreadful!). At least it hasn't actually cost me much money, £50 delivery between the two places and £80 for the fix, but it's still disappointing that it's been to two specialists and still doesn't work properly. None of it Jim's fault of course though! So it's back to the drawing board for a little while...
  9. Looks nice though! And I've never heard of a zed towbar!
  10. I think you'll have to prove the tax and duty was paid on import, then with a few other bits and pieces (de-reg certificate from country of origin, although they say you might be alright without it. They ask for proof of date of import though, not sure what they would accept) you should be able to register it. But without that, not sure you'll get anywhere I'm afraid. From memory, car's over ten years old don't need an IVA. And so what if you did manage to get one? Proves nothing about how the car was imported and that's the issue here I think. In my experience phoning and speaking to them isn't much use, you don't get through to the people that matter, all they do on the phone is advise and say you'll have to see when you submit. But in this case it's probably worth a shot asking them anyway. Or try HMRC, they might have a record against the VIN.
  11. I've actually got one lying around I don't need anymore...
  12. Can't buy them anymore so it doesn't matter too much! I thought they were 2.5 though
  13. I thought the general consensus was 3" is a bit OTT for stock turbos. Don't quote me though! Do you have a 3" exhaust? Jimmer is currently fitting these to mine https://conceptzperformance.com/megan-racing-mr-ssdp-n300-v2-version-2-v2-test-pipes-and-4-bolt-downpipes-90-96-300zx-tt-z32_p_11801.php as japspeed ones are no longer available, and I didn't want to spend anywhere near the amounts suggested by the products linked above!
  14. Car's supposed to be going to Jimmer tomorrow for a manual swap but he's picked up that I don't have a manual gearbox plate, only an auto and he says they don't fit. Anyone out there got one?!?
  15. I've had my hermes bend 2 amplifers on me. I ALWAYS buy full insurance now!! But you get duffers from any courier. Amazon left a parcel in a bin for us recently and didn't even leave a note, it's only by luck that we saw it. And royal mail put stuff in our porch without even bothering to ring the bell first, watched them do it
  16. Assume the extractor has snapped off flush and you can't get anything on it?
  17. Still a few niggles to sort out but getting there!
  18. Gearbox is going to be ready for this weekend and jimmer can fit me in the next two weeks so off for a little road trip to Bristol this Saturday, I'm excited!
  19. Tried out a different master cylinder this weekend and the brakes were a lot better. Still not 100% though and not sure why, I've got the same set up as my last zed and it was much better on that, pedal on this is much spongier but sure I bled it well again. It's good enough to go to jimmers now though finally and get that kicked off, just waiting for the gearbox to get finished (taking quite a while!) then will have to see when he can fit me in. Gave it a quick clean as well, came up nicely
  20. Depends how big your hands are! No way would I have been able to get enough force on a tiny ratchet like that to undo the bolts on mine anyway
  21. Yea you're going to want a few extensions! Once you realise that though it's a piece of cake really. 2 or 3ft of extensions on it and you can get to the top bolts pretty easily right from the back of the box
  22. Regardless of whether they start doing Z32 parts it's still a cool thing for Nissan to do. Logical I think as well because I think it enhances their brand still having classic cars about, and people need parts to keep them on the road. Plus there's probably a bit of money in it!
  23. Tried to refurb my Nabco BM57, read everywhere that you can't get Nabco kits anymore but then I found a place in Australia that was selling a BM57 rebuild kit so I thought great, and ordered it. I didn't know both Nabco and Tokico had made a BM57 and it's obviously for the Tokico  absolutely no mention of the different makes on their website so I'm pretty peeved. I don't fancy paying over £300 for a new one, does anyone have a Tokico BM57 that I can refurb? Luckily I already have the kit
  24. Talking of 406 Coupes I sold mine in a similar way, guy got a coach down overnight from Glasgow to London then trained to Reading for the 165k mile beaten up old thing, then obviously had to drive back. Could hear the brakes screaming in the distance for about 5 minutes after he left, they were sooooo loud! I advertised the car truthfully, in no way worth it!!
  25. I did ask CZP to price match with Z1 last year and they refused to despite the website saying they would, said they didn't price match Z1 anymore
