Ha I'm not exactly writing a thesis here, this a car forum  Besides, it is fully referenced! Reference 4, down the bottom "Helliwell, J.; Layard, R.; Sachs, J. (2017). World Happiness Report 2017. New York: Sustainable Development Solutions Network. ISBN 978-0-9968513-5-0."

No turning back.
Commissioners are unelected in the same way the Prime Minister is unelected. Or if you live in one town, the way the MP of the next town is unelected. Because you didn't vote for them, right? We vote in MPs, they vote for Prime Minister. Member states vote for EU President, help the President choose commissioners and then vote on whether to accept the commissioners. Note the word vote. They then vote on everything the commission wants to pass. Talk of unelected bureaucrats running Europe is greatly exaggerated. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-eu-referendum-36429482 The talk of EU ministers only caring about themselves and forcing the EU to submit to their tyrannical ways, and we can't wait to transfer powers back to UK MPs is naive in the extreme. Boris Johnson has admitted that when he covered the EU for whatever crappy "newspaper" he used to work for, he just lied. He just made up all these stories of crazy health and safety laws, called them unelected bureaucrats all the time etc. He admitted he just made it up and ENJOYED the power it gave him, that people would lap up his ridiculous stories. And then he campaigned against this caricature of the EU he created in a bid to get some power for himself with no interest for what it meant for the country. I'm not saying EU politicians are better than UK politicians at all, I suspect they're all the same. I'm just saying it is foolish to celebrate the transfer of power from one set of politicians to another as I don't see what will change, certainly for the everyday man in the street. This is well worth a read https://www.indy100.com/article/a-journalist-has-shared-a-story-about-boris-johnson-that-completely-undermines-his-authority-on-the-eu--bkoHJPBuVZ particularly: "Everything I wrote from Brussels, I found was sort of chucking these rocks over the garden wall and I listened to this amazing crash from the greenhouse next door over in England as everything I wrote from Brussels was having this amazing, explosive effect on the Tory party, and it really gave me this I suppose rather weird sense of power." At the risk of sounding like a pretentious prick, I think it is easy for people like me to not realise what life can be like for other parts of the country. Life has stagnated, they can't get a decent job and then they see people coming from all over that take the jobs. We can spout numbers about immigrants helping the economy at them all we like, about how the EU free trade boosts the economy etc, but they're not seeing that benefit so why should they vote to keep it? I voted in and stand by it completely, but have come to understand why a lot of people voted out. Who cares about economic progress if it's only the 1% that are benefiting from it? Something needs to change, might as well be this. I will say though that I don't like the UK government's posturing of saying they know exactly what the UK population have voted for and they know exactly what we want. It's just crazy talk, we all have no idea what we voted for because none of us understand the EU correctly, and lots of people voted for lots of different reasons. Some people voted out to save the NHS ffs, as if they're related. I just don't see what this "new dawn" is supposed to be. We have this imperialist-era big ego and think we're better than the rest of Europe, that they're dragging us down, that they all need each other because they're weak but we don't need them. I fear we're in for a hard fall, but I hope not. Maybe it won't be so bad, it's been better than was predicted so far so I remain hopeful :thumbup1: That wasn't supposed to end up being that long

Hell yea! I've barely driven it yet so very much looking forward to getting it back as a manual and with a clean bill of health. Got an order from CZP arriving this week so then once the gearbox is done I can drop it off. Also going through plans with our architect at the moment so should have a garage for her by the end of summer

Fibreglass bumpers.
Don't you have a drill to fit skirts normally? That's what scares me
-
Fibreglass bumpers.
I don't think the 99 bumper works that well without side skirts, the side profile's don't match. The 99 is much straighter than the curved sills I love the 99 bumper, but I'd be worried about side skirts encouraging rust

Removing broken abs/speed sensor on touareg
Fyi for spinning ball joints I used to either put a jack underneath them if they faced upwards so the suspension is pushing down on it, or a G-clamp if they were facing downwards to get some pressure on the ball and stop it spinning. Now I use an impact gun on a compressor! Like Chris says I would try taking the driveshaft out first and seeing what you've got. You might be fed up of my "advice" though :-P

Yes I know it needs a clean but I fitted 99 spec rear lights instead! Need a 99 centre panel as well but got other things to spend the money on at the moment. Finished getting the last of the manual bits off my donor, then swapped over a few little bits like brake brace and hard pipes. Oh and red nose badge but I forgot to get a picture of that. Also SVS have had a look at my box and said new synchros and a few new bearings is all it needs, everything else looks good so happy with that as well. Getting there now!

Wow sounds like a pig! Not sure what a garage is gonna do that you can't do yourself though, just depends if you wanna put the effort in

Removing broken abs/speed sensor on touareg
Ah right looks more enclosed than I was thinking. In that case hub nut off, remove lower wishbone from hub and take the driveshaft out to get access. But personally I would be tempted to try and get it out some other way first to try and save me the time. WD40, heat and twist it by the plastic end probably! But that's just me

Removing broken abs/speed sensor on touareg
I would not expect the sensor to sit "in" the hub, I would expect it to be "through" the hub if you see what I mean, so it wouldn't matter if it fell in it would just go out the hole the other side. But I don't have any knowledge of this particular car so check that before you do anything!

Removing broken abs/speed sensor on touareg
Yea I meant whack it from the other end, but if you can't get to it without taking the driveshaft out... I would definitely just drill it then, once the center falls out it will be easy. Just put some tape round the drill bit at (or before) the max depth so you don't go too deep and damage the driveshaft.

Auto dim rear view mirror
Yea I'd love to see this!!

Removing broken abs/speed sensor on touareg
Pretty sure my brother drilled one out last year. it fell to pieces pretty quickly and was then easy. Does it stick out the sensor end? They're not threaded in right? Whack it!! :smash:

Love black Z's
Ha-ha yea, this is an old picture from autumn when all the trees out the front go mental and the council have to bring a road cleaner out every other day just to keep on top of it. There's no helping the cars!

I think it depends on the car really, I think the bronze suits the black and the blue the white

Parts needed for manual conversion?
Yea I did thanks, just double checking. Are the transmission plates interchangeable? I think I've got two at the moment and the manual is just one? Sent from my SM-N910F using Tapatalk

Parts needed for manual conversion?
As much as I've enjoyed this babble, it hasn't really answered my question  sounds like I have everything then? I will double check with Jimmer but you get a quicker response here and want to know if I need to add anything to my CZP order!

Parts needed for manual conversion?
I've started taking the bits I'll need for my manual swap from my old zed. Jimmer will be putting them in my new zed, and I want to make sure I get everything I need. So far I've thought of: Gearbox, flywheel and clutch obviously Gearstick and related assembly Clutch pedal Brake pedal Wiring harness that connects under the headlight I think? Prop Slave cylinder Starter motor (or are they the same?) Is that everything? What have I missed? I've got a feeling I read somewhere the radiators are different, will I need that as well?

Got the manual box off my old zed yesterday, gonna take it to SVS in Cardiff to get looked at, they have some experience with them and I couldn't find anywhere closer willing to do it! Will see what happens. Also wired in a speed converter to my clocks and fitted some titanium rings from Z1. Did it like this to try and keep the ecu reading the right speed, will have to see if it's worked when I put the cluster back in. Oddly my converter had an extra grey wire that I couldn't really find anything about, so I just left it disconnected. Fingers crossed.
