  1. i saw a picture of this from JAE on here http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=53390 what colour of blue is that is it a standard colour by any chance? mine has been resprayed, at one time, (it used to be red) and the colour of yours looks so simelar to mine. im trying to track down the paint code so i can spray my front bumper. its a long shot i know cos it could be any coulour, but that seems so simelar. Cheers, Fraser
  2. u can get a de-restricting kit that intercepts the speed sensor signal and modifies it so it thinks its not going as fast as it is, from what ive gathered from here, theyr easy to fit, but not reliable and lead to problems with the auto box shift points etc, best way is to get the ecu chipped and to remove the limiter while your at it, as the limiter is a function of the ecu.
  3. sorry mate, blink and you miss it
  4. ye, all 2 secs of Z shaped headlights Waaaap TsSSSsHH "oh that was a Z" the end. sorry but not worth getting your hopes up mate
  5. if it was up to the headlights then it will have come up the air intake and probably in through the crankcase breather to the inside the engine, nice! i have bother keeping all the connectors free from moisture without having it submerged in water! good luck to all involved!!
  6. if the MAF was not open or closed circuit then it would still be trying to read the bad signal, but uf its disconnected then it goes open circuit and ignores the signal altogether and goes to limp mode. the MAF sounds like its goosed.
  7. it looks like its on the right hand side to me. note the wooden panel is still on the passangers side. if that was my car, i would cry
  8. if its a Jap spec, then its limited to 120mph or 180Kph mine's a jap spec, cant remember what the number is on the gauge but at full bost it should go up to the second last bar on the gauge
  9. i havent had the emissions tested yet but the O2 sensors are blinking away happy enough and the plugs look like the mixture is ok.
  10. i think they are round about the £600-£700 mark,
  11. i have no time for these kind of things and regard them as gimmicks. the fuel cat came out a while back as a substitute for leaded fuel and i think they were regarded as useless then. unless it dissolves into the fuel, i cant see how its going to work? the fuel cats were like a mesh filled with lead? balls. if they did work, why dont they fit them to fuel pump nozels at the petrol station and we could all have high octane fuel for F all!
  12. have a look at this: http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=26120 the ptu is on the left hand side timing belt cover, connectors need checked also the CAS is on the right hand side timing belt cover give the contacts a clean there too.
  13. thanks Mark, i will keep that in mind if the connectors turn out to be rubbish. im going to change the Auto box fluid, sort the water leak, check for boost leaks, and see if that bring some life back into it. coolers will be a bit pricey as i have a few projects on the go at the moment. what stuff will i take out for the emissions? the EGR valve? anything else?
  14. i suppose it has started as it got warmer. it is an Auto as a matter of fact.
  15. cheers Mark, ive done a fault code check loadsa times still comes back clear. boost comes up ok on the gauge. im not in safety boost since i sorted the det sensor. sometimes it goes great and othertimes its flat. im going to make a boost leak tester when i get home aswell.
  16. theres a plastic inner arch liner, its probably become dislodged and rubbing on the tyre. its probably died down a bit because the plastic will have worn/melted away. have a look, it cant be that serious.
  17. im thinking my flat power problem could be the injector connections, the plenums coming off so i can fix the water leaks and was going to do the connections at the same time. was thinking, surely the injectors would either work or they wouldnt with a bad connection, or does anyone know any different? i get no fault codes or missfires, but does it run better with clean connections?
  18. ye i was wondering that, was deffo a TT with dump valves too
  19. i agree, also check the tension of the belt. the pump will either work or it wont, cant imagine why it would only work intermittantly.
  20. thanks for the info guys! john C, ive checked for boost leaks (without a tester though) mine aint no scooby eater either :( air/fuel filter, timing is all spot on, sometimes i go to overtake and it launches off well, and othertimes it just goes flat. i cant help thinking theres a smal SOV not working or the EGR valve jammed open or something. once i clean all the injector connectors, il get a better idea of what might be wrong, but i would have thought they would either work or they wouldnt, and all the cylinders are firing. and i have no fault codes ive bought a wolf3D V4 standalone ECU for my Daihatsu GTti but im tempted to put it on the Z afterwards, and junking all the sh1t like AFM,egr, aivs, etc... at least then i know where i'l stand.
  21. Cheers John, what garage is that do you know their name? if you dont il look it up in the yellow pages. i dont mind traveling, im in Falkirk a fair bit, so i can make myself fairly central to most places in scotland. anyone else know off any more? i think it might be useful to collate a list of decent Z garages and post them as a sticky, and we could rate them accordingly, ive NEVER taken a car to the garage before, but i think this ones got me beat for the time being  Cheers, Fraser
  22. i work offshore as an apprentice instrument tech. plenty of time off to fix the Z and play with my other toys at least.
  23. hi guys, im not convinced my z's running as sweet as it should be. there are no fault codes, ive tried adjusting the tps, and cleaning every connector i come accross. will be removing the plenum to clean up the injector contacts and sort the water leak. when i get it back together id love to see it on a consult to make sure its healthy. i dont normally doubt myself when working on a car, but this Z has me stumped, especially since im not sure if its ok or if its just me. has anyone got a Consult unit in Scotland that they can run on it? or recommend a good garage that would give it once over?
  24. Lisa, it sounds more like the PTU, they do go on the Z and cause it not to start of to cut out while driving. replacement should get him running again. some one on here will be able to sell you a working spare if thats what it is.
  25. good stuff! glad its fine now
