Fuel Protests
theres really no need, i heard the other day that B&Q are laying off a load of people because of sales slowing, this in my mind is a sure sign that the economy is slowing because people are generally finding they have less disposable income (due to increase in fuel cost + knock on effect). its only a matter of time before the chancellor is forced to slice the tax on fuel or we're fookt!

been to the scrappies...
went to a breakers yard and had a snoop about. was looking for injector connections for my new ecu for the GTti. but there were so many cars in today that i cut off hundreds of the buggers! found 2 old VW's with connectors that you just press the wire spring rather than having to 'unpick' it from the connector in the deepest of dark places. the internal contacts come out by pressing the metal tab with a jewelers of small terminal screwdriver, and just drop them into the 'new' connector body, looks so much tidier now and there are no broken ones! i must have got about 12-15 of them plus loads of jubilee clips and brake pipe fittings and crap for £3! anyone who is crazy enough to consider replacing the engine loom for a few connectors should consider this! (unless the wiring is damage) Fraser

boost leek detector
due to the hight pressure drop across the tyre valve on and the large volume of the induction tubing/I.C's i had to have the compressor regulator set at about 45Psi to give me about 5psi in the induction side.

Throttle sensor & autobox
- i want good wastegate chatter
plugging the re-circs and having no BOV causes the air to stop flowing through the MAF when you lift off sharp after accelerating, and it stalls (usually going into a corner fast!) which, on an auto, leaves you with no power steering and a brown mark on the seat. effectively, wastegate chatter is the compressor going into surge, which will wreck it and on big turbos, over time the stress on the impellor shaft can cause it to shear, resulting on the nut getting drawn into the engine.- Big Rant - Immigrants
oh dear.... :Fraser shakes his head in disbelief:- lowering petrol prices
stopping buying fuel from esso, shell, bp wont do squat. the price of fuel isnt all that bad its only risen a few pence. its the duty. where do you think tesco,asda,jet..etc get their petrol from? the big blue and red tesco oil platforms and refineries??? what the problem is, is that rather than increasing income tax and freezing duty on fuel, (which would be the fair way) the motorist is now paying more tax than the non motorist.so does that mean a motorist has the priority on public services than the non motorist?? not very fair eh? if the real reason for increasing the duty is to 'encourage people to use public transport to protect the environment' then fine, lets call their bluff and have 2 days where we all use a public transport system that isnt really there. and watch the country grind to a hault, both because no-one will be able to go to their work, and the revenue lost for those few days will fairly dent the chancellors wallet, seeing as its really the only place he gets money from. it has to be done nationally or it wont work, or even if you staggered it a few days a week when EVERYBODY does it all this piffle about not topping up cars is pointless, you dont top it up one day, so you just have to fill up the next... this country is screwed..- help/advice please!
i have had two burst pipes that resulted in a 'dump' of water then nothing for ages and then another 'dump' when i got round to fixing it, i discovered that the braid in the rubber hose had collapsed and the hose was balooning under pressure. there was a tiny pin hole in the rubber, and when the pressure got high it sprayed out and then the hole closed over again. its hard to tell if this is whats happening with you but it may be a head gasket. it may be overpressurising the coolant into the expansion bottle and running out over the overflow. by this time it will have emptied all the coolant out the engine and left a puddle on your drive... worth checking. or it might just be that the neck of the radiator has worn, and the cap pops off slightly and allows the coolant to overflow into the expansion tank, or down the side onto the floor.
