what time do we need to arrive to get onto the stand? im about 3hours away, so i need to know what time to set off. cheers
  3. ye i can get it to lift about 1" but it refuses to 'pop' out of the clip. there isnt even anything to lever against, its just wire and cloth. :(
  4. will give it ago! any other suggestions?
  5. how do i lift the bloody thing off? (the ar$e bit no the back bit) ive hauled and pulled and it wont come, i dont want to bent the frame, and the plastic clip doesnt want to unclip, there must be a knack to it, im trying to run my speaker cables under it to the boot.
  6. oh well nevermind , lucky its cold enough outside then !!
  7. me too, no probs. mine's standard though, but i can it all the time!
  8. when my airfilter gets wet it does the same thing, but if uve checked it then... check for bad connections, the moistures probably affecting something electrical.
  9. u kidding? its the worst car ive ever driven in snow. doesnt matter how slow you go, the wide tyres just skate across, just NO! rain is alright, but obviously you dont go as hard, and be prepared for wet roundabouts. drive it like a motorbike and itl be fine.
  10. on the subject, what are you meant to see throught the Air-con sight glass in the engine bay? theres nothing in mine, whether its on or off, hot or cold.? it 'seems' to work, could it be low on gas?
  11. hi jim! i cant help you with 1+2 but loads of people on here will be able to help. 3 isnt much to worry about, it seems to be a common fault where the pressure sender dies and gives a poor or sluggish reading. if your really worried then fit an aftermarket gauge/sender unit. but as most cars dont have or need them and its running sound enough then it's probably fine. 4 sounds G/box related, it wont be a release bearing as the noise usually happens the other way round. there wont be much you can do (besides replace it for a recon) until it pops. check the oil levels and do a change, that might quieten it but, any damage will just be covered up. the ECU is in the passengers foot well (if you didnt know) under a wooden panel. it might have some stickers or the screws might look like theyve been tampered with if it has a chip, other than that, its hard to tell until u open it up, unless you've driven a sandard one and can compare the 2. it may well be chipped if its running a boost controller, fingers crossed for you anyway.
  12. yip, a wise man once told me 'oil is a cheap mechanic' and its true. you shouldnt just replace, but improve, its about making it better, not faster or quicker. no point having a quick car if its never out the garage. its about a ballance between the two. for instance, a bigger oil cooler is a mod, but it helps the engine/gearbox, whatever, its more of an improvement, but its still a mod. its been said thats its an expensive mod, but if for some reason the cooler failed then its not all that much extra. there would be no point replacing every bit that moves for no reason, just to improve it.. any way enough sh1t fae me im getting another guiness :duffer:
  13. change three then and if its firing better u know your on to a winner
  14. take it to a hydraulic services place, ie some where thad repairs diggers or forklift trucks etc, theyl splice up a new hose and fittings no problem for next to nothing and make it better than before. ;)
  15. ye just, if i mind right i think the holes were just shy of the mounting plate ie on the edge of the hole.
  16. yip ^^^^^ you have to trim the frame and drill out some spotwelds for the surround, but its no big job.
  17. its just 6 plugs and 6 coil packs, it would be a Haynes 1 spanner job.
  18. the grilles are held in with tiny self tappers and clipped in the other side. its hard to get a decent pair of 6x9's shallow enough to clear the window. unless u built out the door card with MDF to deepen the frame. why not just get some round 3 way spkrs and get some 6x9's for the back.
  19. its a 20 min job to change em, takes longer to jack it up and remove the wheels.
  20. bingo ;) theres ur problem, its easy to see the ball flapping about if you pull back the gaiter. and its easy to see if its the outer track rod end cos u can see it nae probs.
  21. could easy be, along with constantly having to correct the steering to keep it straight, and feeling floaty, and vibes when braking. takes 2 mins to jack a side up and feel for play.
  22. just do it! mine had been gone for a while. since i replaced them the handlings never been as good. i never knew 2 ton could change direction so quickly!!
