the harsh shift could be one or both of the following.... The TPS may need adjusting to bring it back to spec - the auto box uses this to work out throttle usage. The throttle cable may need to be adjusted to remove any slack in it. A write up is on tt.net with pictures. Then reset the ECU and see how you go.

People seem to find with the 0 weight that it tends to start leaking out of seals as it very thin - engines sound a bit more rattley too. Especially true where the car is a few years old and hasnt been run on such a thin synthetic viscosity before as they tend to also clean out the crud as well. Check out tt.net for a bit more info. General rule seems to be if you havent run on synthetic before dont got for a thin one as you may spring leaks.

generally a 0W rating is not preferred for our cars - its a bit too thin.

Unless its broken the box will always do this. When you have fully stopped - will have already selected first gear. No matter how you then pull away from the junction it will be in first - THEN depending on your acceleration the box will change into second when it thinks is best. Only if you have the box in HOLD mode will you ever launch from second gear. The only bit you have to clear on is if you are still rolling then you probly wont be in first as the box doesnt need to be. You will find that even if you are going slow if you force it into first, you will feel the gear change.
  10. so he got the colour of your car wrong....Deffo contest it and point out your car colour when you have to write in why.

  14. Sounds like the same thing! I guess the pulling tool is the answer. Might drop into Nissan on Sat and see how much they will charge to do it as its not like I really need the tool for other things.
  15. I thought it was my wipers making the noise but its coming from the passenger wiper arm fixing point where its driven by the motor - I can unscrew the nut off but I can get the arm out to see if theres any way of getting some grease in there- WD40 sprayed around it didnt seem to help.... Any pointers appreciated.
  16. how about a dirty fuel filter?
  17. Mine did this once - thought it was the brakes, but when I'd changed the wheels off the car I'd put them back the wrong way right on the left etc - changed them back and voila - it says on the alloy which side is which - It might be due to that or the wear on the tyres are uneven. Have a look and see.
  18. It turned out not to be at the back of the engine in the end - it was a split pipe at the front by the throttle body - it was running down the engine and dripping off the back, hence the steam......Phil at C&S Wood sorted it out for me.
  19. yep 10mm bolts. Cant remember anything along side the connector.....a hole doesnt sound good - is it through the plastic?
  20. I cant see any dents in the sump - it looks more scratched than anything else.
  21. Hows your cooling system? is the water topped up and clean? Running a bit hot can cause detonation.

  23. Dont touch the money with a barge pole - the money IS NOT yours until quite a while after the cheque hits the bank - if you withdraw it the bank will come asking you for the money back. You cannot win. You could just keep making excuses to him and waste his time - give wrong account numbers etc!
