  1. nothing wrong with autosol. we used to use it at work on really high end stainless stuff as a finishing compound.
  2. ah right, tbh mate pulling it is really not that bad once you get the induction piping and the rad out there is alot more room. its just a case of being methodical and taking your time. mines out atm still...
  3. thats right they extortionate in france and germany as they were rare to start with and jspec imports didnt really take off in teh same way due to the whole being on the wrong side buisness. france is a funny place though law wise things change overnight.
  4. its all very confusing a deal of my family are scotish but they consider themselves british. same as im english and i consider myself english they are out countries and britian is like our own subcontient. i do not consider myself europeon. i guess if your not living in scotland the goveremnt no longer count you as scotish. :s in reality though were all goverened by brussels. its all billy bull crap.
  5. Pretty sure they do a v8 version aswel, im not allowed one ive asked swmbo before.
  6. Is it a uk car? Its easier if it is. Beware though the french goverment are hating on old cars atm. Trying to ban them.
  7. i swear i just said both those things lol. hows the car dave?
  8. I should be operational soon. :)
  9. well yeah il gibve you that, and a faulty chip could be part of the problem but i think this is more breather and gas mixing related rather than electrical.
  10. pictures is a bloody good idea. but i think you will find far more of them will speak english than you think esp if you speak slowly. how about you do a slide show get a german speaking person to add subtitles for you so yoir sort of well subtittled in german.
  11. like i said the richer afr is for the boost proportion of the rev range therefore wont effect idle.
  12. i was thinking that esp at idle, as the chip is based on providing fuel to the boost proportion of the rev range. the idle would still be the same. if anything it would cause the car to make black smoke on high level rpm. is that correct? have you checked through your breather system, pcvs etc?
  13. i suppose that depend son how quickly it builds up. rember how little oil there is in the sump half a litre in the catch tank isnt ideal
  14. yeah undo those coloured dust caps, you will see the valve inside. the gas is toxic though so dont breath it in.
  15. have you done prv carbon canister aiv aswel? sure you probally have. on the subject of the pcvs cant help you, however i know one or two that have done it suffered from catch tanks that dont drain back to the sump. causing the oil level to drop drastically.
  16. balls i recon you can save it though with some time and elbow grease the ecu and maf will be goosed prob the alternator aswel. but its surprising what will survive getting wet once its dried out. if there was no power going to the car at the time which im guessing it was parked up for the night so not. just gotta clean it up dry it out and see what happens but yeah network rail should definatly be sending you a lovely cheque.
  17. Im guessing the pic hasnt loaded
  18. Yeah on the passengerside inner wing next to the fuel filter you will find two metal lines with like tyre valves. Push in the valve like you letting down a tyre if it hisses theres gas.
  19. looking good mate.. does that mean that 99 spec is going to be coming off?
  20. let me say this very clearly. MAKE SURE YOUR AIR FUEL RATIO IS CORRECT no matter how well looked after its still over 20 years old and it would be a terrible shame to see you ripping the heart out because youv'e melted a piston. have you done a leakdown to see how healthy the compression is?
  21. is the ac already degassed? removing its not hard really its just the miles and miles of crap associated with it.
  22. i know theyre a pig to work on campared to other cars but the vg is a bloody good engine. tbh if you went down the rb or jz route its still gonna be cramped in there and although you wont be pulling the blocjk to do a turbo you will be for something else there so bloody tall esp in a z32 chassis. and although they have the amazing rep they do there is still no guarantees.
  23. might be worth having a chat with craig at crturbos, he really knows his stuff and they do mod turbos in house so might be able to help you source a replacement front housing
  24. is it a machined out t25 front housing?
  25. i will idle higher once converted to manual aswel as there is less resistance through the drive train at idle. same reason it will now rev up in neutral much quicker, you will nee dto reset this once you solved the other issues. although it will be like 1.5k after conversion not 2. the temp sensors are on the top aluminium water pipe, running parallel with the rad. mine did this after the conversion but i put it down to the fact i had decatted aswel. after investigating things i had a failed rear oil seal on one of the tubs, that the cats had been hiding. i do wonder wether the reduction in load going auto to manual will also cause this at idle. if it was overfueling and that was the cause of the smoke it would be black. i know they say oil smoke is blue but this its always the case, it only burns blue if its been combusted. if its simply vapourising it seems to be white like water vapour. youve changed alot of things at once mate so start working your way through them checking what youve changed is correct esp that ecu. and dont forget if the car has been sat its going to be more prone to corroded connections.
