I thought this may be the case, as I toyed with moving over there.

Thing is thoughi know everyone gets excited and blames ol series one, but how many zeds are there driving around on 20 plus year old series 1s with no falut to the unit? Yes they can fail but look at it differently are you really suprised after playing with thevrest of the engine loom those years havent taken thier toll.

they dont like getting wet! you may find you have to disconnect your battery for a little while to see any difference

fuse number 19 is apparently the back up lamp fuse, and its looking like the reverse light is the same on a nissan navara and many other models x trail etc.

check for a spark first off, if its there its possibly happening at the wrong time, ie the cas has moved when you were poking about maybe? but its never going to start with flooded plugs, take them out and hit them with a blow torch or on the hob till they stop burning red fire and just blue flame is coming out.

this is why i refuse to park out on the road, or drive my zed into any city.

right today we tested the switch it passed intermittently, after removing it and trying it off the car it still only works intermittently, so the switch is jiggered. we did also apply a live to the pins in the wiring loom and the lights lit up yey! however testing with a multimeter there is no live being supplied to the plug next to the hicas. which may also be an issue or is it because the alternator/transmisson loom is disconnected, from memory they are the same loom?

lol yeah il bite, dont really see the point by the time you've sorted everything out financially and time wise what will you have really gained? yeah the vg has its weak points what doesnt, as pointed out above the rb does have its weak points aswel. all in reality you will have gained is an engine with a different layout of cylinders, which has slightly more room either side sits too high but hell thankgod though cos when it blows up cos its almost as old as the vg your removing theres lots of parts available and a larger group of experienced tuners. if your going to do something differnt what about a twin turbo or super charged ls1? i dont dislike the idea of an rb engined zed, far from it its just if your going to do something like this youve got to do it properly with a freshly built engine, which in reality unless your chasing monster monster power your pocket and free time arnt going to gain very much from the conversion.

that wont be an issue for long :) infact the whole fecking sludge box wont be my boy. we have it converted to manual in a single day.

you running stock internals? with over 20 psi the t28s and 600cc injectors? can i ask how much roughly it cost to do it all?

no but theres two so im guessing they didnt both blow, unless theres a dedicated fuse which has blown.

trouble is even if the mazda is a higher group if you get a fiesta or saxo etc etc you will most likely pay the same if not more due to the statistics. moronic little boys drive those cars there boy racer cars so they are more expensive to insure. believe or not my capri used to cost me less than most of my friends little hatches, and my zed was less expensive to insure than my daily driver 1.2 corsa.

my electrical skills are pretty basic atm, how do i preform a continuity test? what setting do i need on the multimeter?

well as many of you know my engine is out atm, the engine bay is looking nice the guffs been removed like aivs etc all the dross is removed from the block like the egr etc. nice shiney rebuilt t25s bolted back on and im virtually ready to put the engine back in. So heres the problem. my reverse lights stopped working shortly after the manual conversion, i assumed that was because the connection had come off, well it hasnt. trouble is i cant test the switch again because the loom is disconnected from the car. atm pulling the box out is easy peasey, because its only held in by the box mount and the prop, so pulling it out atm makes loads of sense. so short of putting the engine in, and testing it finding out it doesnt work then pulling the box out the hard way later. what do i need to hook up to check the functionality? and is the switch on the box changeable? i think its probally more iklety the connection to the switch rather than the switch but still... sugestions please this is a big bug atm i nee dto rectify before i pop the engine bcak in and get the big red demon back again.

dont be unfair to yourself your car is a nice purple, comparing it to yellow, the second worst colour known to man bar orange is an insult. yellows so shit it ruins red enough to make orange yuk yuk yuk. haha
