  1. I’ve been three times in the last couple of years, to France, Germany and Italy. No ones said a thing. So maybe you, like me will be lucky? The only trouble I’ve got in was with the Yellow Jackets, who was burning pallets and blocking a round about, was like something out of a war film!
  2. Tbh I dont recon too many of those soft valved early cars are still about, those that are will likely not have the original block. It’s a low volume of these cars that had the issue and after 30 years the survivors are just that. Mines an 89 shell, the block isn’t an 89 one though...
  3. The trouble is with these cars, parts are so bloody expensive. How much would I trust a block that’s been sat for 15 years, well guarantee the seals will be shot, minimum your looking at a full gasket, belt and seal change at which point how much extra cost and Labour is it to re ring and bearing the bottom end and have the valves lapped in... at which point you’ve rebuilt an engine and it was a waste... unless you can get it for like £500-800 I’d not be interested tbh.
  4. It’s a parts car at best really. The corrosion on the rear sill is horrendous. It’s far cheaper to replace a duff power train that body work, in my opinion. If your a body work enthusiast and you want a challenge I’d try and get it for half the buy it now.
  5. Nice little read that Andrew.
  6. An earlier point, about Japanese auto manufacturing leaving the UK. That’s not really a Brexit effect is it? Let’s be honest. Japanese car manufacturing only existed in the EU due to stipulations made by the EU, a percentage had to made in the EU market, the U.K. secured that deal. Further recent neigotionaton meant that this requirement was no longer required and so it made it practical and more profitable to move this manufacting back to the Far East in part. Whilst I’m sure market access fear did have some relivence it’s capailist behaviour and changing EU policy that killed it off.
  7. Personally I think we’re at or close to 11pm on this, everything has ramped up in the last few weeks. Voices of extreme, polarised by thier choice are shouting louder because they know something is coming and they fear it’s not what they wanted. There’s a lot cold feet and a lot of nerves, that’s understandable but the vast majority of this country were not happy with how things were and Britian isn’t alone with it’s critisims and contentions with the EU. If the question was, “Do you think the EU is great and we should fully join” the result would of been far more extreme I think. Britian has always been in with concession, one foot in the door one foot out. It’s time to wait and see what happens next, the big noise has to quieten down and compromise. Without compromise, we will stay here in this expensive and damaging limbo. A deal, the deal, was available and through a lack of compromise we’ve wasted lots of time and money not taking it.
  8. I fear the most likely outcome is you will end up with Corbyn propped up by that rather nutty Swinson.
  9. My prediction, which has played out pretty much to the tee so far, is that this procrastination and subversive behaviour will continue in Parliament. Despite a referendum choice to leave and MPs voting 6-1 to respect that vote a lack of ability to compromise and get on with things will lead to the following out come. A general election. This will be won, particularly if they replace Jeremy Corbyn by Labour, probably a minority government propped up by a remain party. A second referdum will be run and people will be “educated to vote the right way”. Long range forecast this will create a few years of false prosperity and inflation among with increased national debt. When Germany slips into recession and triggers a Eurozone crisis the national debt will be too high and the UK will return to recession. That in my opinion is the most likely direction of things. As a side note the NHS leave or remain will not remain as it is, the model is unsustainable and the system is coping with 1000 things it was never set up to be for. If we leave it will see further privitisation and if we remain we will move to a more aligned position with EU countries such as France where they have a subsidised system, ie it will cost you a tenner a pop to see your GP.
  10. Without checking everything else over, like Timing, TPS, IACV etc etc that could be wasted time and money. You need to either work through or get someone who knows what they are looking at, to inspect it.
  11. My guess would be you’ve got an injector failed open. This is easy to check. It could be a multitude of things but it’s probably something silly. Does the car idle properly at 750rpm?
  12. Go and buy a barb fitting with a threaded Male end. Three nuts and a washer. It’s gonna be fiddly but that’s your best bet.
  13. Just take the old one to a local hydraulic specialist and they will make you while you wait.
  14. Be really careful with the engine say in its sump, it’s really easy to crush the pan a little and the clearance between the pan and pick up tube isn’t much at all. The subsequent oil starvation and pan exchange is a world of frustration you don’t want. Trust me.
  15. Just rebuild the core and have it balanced mate.
  16. The harness often fails between the plug and the sensor. I deleted mine years ago. Using the harness as a plug in with the 1 Mega Ohm resistor.
  17. Because the covers are smoked rather than 100% clear, it darkens that red off and it looks the nuts. Good move.
  18. Fantastic engineering going on here, looks like the trip around the world for your engine is really worth while.
  19. I’m in a slightly more patient mood today so il explain what I was on about in respect to the injectors abilty as such. The numbers below are theoretical and you can’t expect that x = y exactly every time it’s merely a guideline. The fuel map, on the ECU, has a margin for error. That’s about 20%. Thus doesn’t allow you to add more than the margin within that map. Most chips etc are an extrapolation of the stock map. As per the stock map and iterations of it; 3 bar fuel pressure @ 100 duty is 370cc, sufficienct for 370hp @ the fly. This is a smart thing for a manufacturer to do to a car for a world market. If we lift the restriction of the ECU so that 100% duty is 100 of total fuel delivery, with no redundancy or margin for error, the injectors can flow; 3 bar fuel pressure @ 100 duty is 370cc sufficient for 425hp @ the fly. Of corse this is a silly move, no error compensation and everything flat out. The total flow ability for 425hp is limited by the safety margin, which conviently lands us at 370hp at the fly with the stock margin for error. Injector size is equal to peak fly HP. As far as the ECU is concerned we are alt 100% duty but we’re not we're at 85%. So, for example we lift the stock ECU restriction so 100% flow is 100% duty and do not run past 90% duty that gives us 10% margin for error, not enough for a manufacturer but for a custom map, that would be “ok”. 3 bar fuel pressure @ 90% true duty on 370cc injectors is sufficient for 381hp @ the fly. So 17 psi on stock Turbos is about 365hp @ the fly. For a 90% true duty cycle you’d need 355cc of fuel per cylinder per minute. So as you can see @ 365hp your under your safety margin by a fair way. At this point you’d be pulling about 65psi on the fuel supply to supply the correct fuel pressure. At this point the factory knock sensor became useless a fair while ago, the factory boost gauge has been off the clock since lunch time and o2 sensors have quit. The only thing looking after things is the ECU with all the processing power of a SNES your passenger is stood on. This is true wether your at 12psi on 370s or 21 on 740s and a crap chip or poor mechanical health you will kill it. If you’ve got money burning a whole in your pocket, for what 740s cost to instal you’d be better off buying nistune and an AFR or better yet a stand alone with failsafes. In short, in my grumpy opinion, 16psi on the RIGHT chip will net you about 365hp and less than 90% true duty.
  20. Obviously the GT525s are moving more air at 9 psi than a T22/5 at a similar pressure. Which creates a leaner ratio. As nicks said, you need more information to answer that.
  21. Has your calculation taken into account that fuel pressure at 14psi isn’t 43.5psi?
  22. Inflammatory wording by myself admittedly but not a fabrication.
  23. There’s the point of contention. I’m saying he doesn’t need bigger injectors for 17 psi to be safe, just a suitable map, you believe that stock injectors cannot supply enough fuel for that boost level. Am I interpreting our difference incorrectly?
  24. I started by expressing the case that I believe you were stating it was necessary to fit 740cc injectors to run 17 psi on stock Turbos. This isn’t a fact. You stated that was ok to run upto 15 and then your at max duty cycle. Not the case. I called you a pedant because you made a point over a 1 psi difference. You pulled the, you’ve changed since you had a child card. I pointed out your hardly one to talk about people’s attitudes. Then edited your post to point out you were banned 10 years a go, which may be the truth but it’s probably a mere five since you begged to return after spending your time slagging the club off on a break away forum. Lots of people have and have had a problem with you Simon, your well aware of it and I’ve defended you in the past saying you’ve changed and he’s not like that in real life he just comes across badly sometimes but I’m feeling less and less that’s the case. Does that about cover it?
