  1. There is ALOT of over complicated and overly expensive junk on the Z32 that if it was different Male theses cars more popular. For example; the climate control system, particularly the early one. It’s just unnecessarily complex.
  2. I reduced the spring rate to 6kg front 4kg rear which as you say did make the car far less skippy, gave more traction off the line and really made the car much more real world friendly. Compared to before it’s incredibly planted. I’d knock it up a bit but it’s not as simple as that, as you know every action has a reaction and adjustment of the ride height will effect the geometry, again...it’s low but it’s not mental, it can take an average speed bump and doesn’t scrub with just me in the car. I’ve considered cutting out the X section and fitting a resonator. Take some drone away and drop a few dB. Where I live is very quiet and I do feel like I’m going to wake the dead when I start it up. It’s actually not LOUD it’s just loud compared to normal cars. I’ve got the series 2 full electric seats, I think it’s just newer cars the door is higher. But I do feel I’m sat about 2” too high up. Sadly it’s not hit an official track yet, something has wrong before each opportunity. I think this is part of the issue, it’s got to be used to be enjoyed. That’s a viscous circle of not using and subsequently loosing enthusiasm, I don’t really enjoy turning spanners it’s a bus mans holiday. What I enjoy is driving.
  3. I’m giving myself a year. I don’t want to get rid of it on a whim and regret it. I also don’t want to sell it to try and sit on the money till I find something I want because I know realistically il spend the money on the house and I won’t get it back as a liquid asset. I’ve driven the zed and the beemer back to back today, which is a first and each has thier merits.
  4. Let me share a tale. Today I got home early, first one home, no child, no wife. Should I take the zed for a spin, top the battery up and get it warm... go on then. Battery is flat, blast, no problem il get the jump pack. I connected the jump pack and the alarm went off, neighbor pops his head round “didn’t see your van, I thought you were being robbed.” “No I reply, just had to climb in through the boot because the battery is flat” I climbed through the boot because the passenger side is tight against the wall and the drivers door does that bloody lock barrel spin pissing thing. Anyway it burst into life and rubbles away. God it’s loud. I sit in the drivers seat, the 30 year old steering wheel feels thin and cheap, the seating position feel crap... I’m too high up, how can I feel high up I’m inches from the floor. I pull off the drive and the exhaust scrapes, ughhh, I just take it round the block I think. I pull out of my road and into town, a discarded coffee cup rolls in front of me and momentarily gets caught under the bumper. I pull onto the dual carriageway, just upto the round about then back. The car feels cold, stiff, uncomfortable and clunky, I change lanes craning my neck at the massiveblind spot. I progress down the road, next roundabout, then il turn round. There’s no music, just the exhaust, I hear the Rose jointed suspensions clunking as I turn out the junction, and a few PSI of boost builds, then BOV let’s go as I do like an annoying budgie, maybe il get rid of those I think. Sat there making a racket, people must be thinking I’m a knob. Stop start town turns into a deserted A road, il go the long way back I think. A lone piece of gravel dings the exhaust, ugh... I hit full boost for first time, holy shit. The trees are on the turn and it’s just me, no one in my mirrors no one in sight. A crisp leaf crunches under those big sticky tyres, corner follows corner, gear, acceleration, downshift. The BOVs hiss like raging snakes, the exhaust reverberates off the turning trees. Suddenly, the car has transformed, it’s alive, it all works, the noises put a smile on my face and suddenly I don’t care about any of the little niggles, I care about this deserted road, that cold winter air feeding my turbos, the noises and the way a well sorted car drives. Half an hour has passed, whoops, I was only supposed to go round the corner. I turn home and the fuel gauge glows as pull into my town. I pull on the drive, the exhaust scrapes ugh.
  5. Hi guys, The following are my opinions, I do not wish to debate them. Been thinking about this for a while and have come to a conclusion. I wish to tender my resignation as joint Regional Events Organiser for South Central. There are a few reasons for this, not least the fact that I’ve organised no meets this year and generally only one successful one for the last few years. This isn’t enough to justify the position. Equally the general apathy in the club has taken its toll and I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s a fruitless task. The club itself in my eyes isn’t doing very well, this is disappointing and I can’t really pin point or fault a specific thing. It’s quite clear to me that many stalwarts of this community have faded away, the buzz is gone. That coupled with the lack of trade sees me questioning why I’m posting. There are three reasons to be part of a car club; Community, Discounted deals and availability of parts, Tech support. In all but the tech aspect, the club is in my opinion failing and is propped up by a small number of active members who have a very set vision of how they would like things to be. This was a major factor in why I haven’t paid my subs, there simply was no incentive to do so. I’ve met some good people and made some friends over the past decade but many of them are no longer contributing, even though they still own. So I will also be taking very much a back seat from the club as a whole. This year has been a very busy year for me, as will next year and I’m going to take some serious time to think but next year is probably also going to be my final year of ownership. Thank you for reading and a special thanks to those who have helped me, turned up to events and the few that have turned up with spanners and parts and been part of a club.
  6. Portsmouth to Bristol via Dorset? You got properly carried away there buddy.
  7. Doesn’t actually look like a Hornet to me, more like a queen wasp. Adult hornets are huge about 30-40mm long!
  8. Don’t live near Clacton on Sea do you? Saw one on a drive way there a few weeks back.
  9. Just pull the engine. I believe an NA can be done in the bay but by the time you’ve got down to that point you may as well of pulled the engine and done a proper job.
  10. I rest my case... the trouble is with any public service job like that, be it bus driver, police, paramedic, job centre, child services etc etc is you get a very skewed view of the population. Now get off the bloody internet and be in the moment on your well deserved holiday! Which reminds me, I’m off next week, didgital detox commencing in 5,4,3,2..... laters.
  11. Maybe it’s time to have a think about some things for you, this is not my experience of daily life in this country. I see it yes but it’s the exception not the norm. I do even more miles than you do, 50k+, and don’t encounter that much rage. Aren’t you a Bus driver? Maybe it’s time for a holiday?
  12. TheRealNips. Just wanted to go to some of the comparisons you made. The reason you don’t see so much traffic on the French roads is the population density is FAR lower than here, over 3xs lower. The rural parts are virtually unpopulated. If you go to the large French cities though such as Paris or Lyon not only are roads an absolute nightmare the standard of driving is a worse. I hate driving in London but I’d take it over Lyon any day. Whilst Germany, Australia and The Netherlands are impressively clean, particularly Austria, nations such as France, Spain and Italy are right mucky places filled with stray cats and graffiti. Obviously parts of these countries are nice as are parts here. I certainly don’t feel we’re at the bottom of the pile, Britain is over all a great place. There’s not a country in the world that’s perfect and I’m always happy to home. Maybe you shouldn’t be so keen to put home down.
  13. Very true and what is for many an emotional choice as as well or even more so than economic etc, truth is a liquid material. If you want to explore who spent more money and bent more truths well, it’s politics, you’d be at it till there’s no Europe to leave.
  14. The biggest problem conceptually (a moot point to some extent for us) is that it assumes parity, on economically, standardisation and moral issues. The current 28 member states do not have this. This is a foundational flaw, and is and has, caused a lot of hardship and upheaval throughout the EU long before “Brexit”. We all got a chance to cast a vote. The same information was available for all who sought it out to make decisions, it was down to the individual to make that choice as best they could or abstain if they chose. That is democracy, a voice for all citizens equally, I strongly believe in that and that either way we must except the decision of the majority and those who we employ to carry out our wishes must do so to the best of thier ability.
  15. Just to pull you up there Si, Farage didn’t state the £350m. That claim was from vote leave of which he wasn’t part, in fact he was publicly excluded. He even said he didn’t recognise that amount during the campaign, I believe he was claiming more like £130m.
  16. It’s an out from me. I made my decision at the time and I’m not going to get cold feet. I do not support the four indivisible fundamentals of the EU and therefore I cannot support the EU, nor do I wish to be a member of it. What I’m really rather sick of and has become very apparent is the self proclaimed “left” or as they like to believe the educated and righteous. What that actually appears to mean is, if you don’t agree with my views your less than me and ignorant, without a hint of irony. I do firmly believe though, and I said it at the time, is that regardless of the result we won’t leave properly. Any exit will be in name only. Those with power in general rather like to keep hold of it.
  17. It was always going to be thier strategy. Offer a terrible deal and hope for a second referendum. Be interesting to see who finally blinks first.
  18. I forgot you had the series 2 PTU to boot. It’s an expensive faff because splicing in the connectors you wouldn’t need to purchase a new loom (didn’t you buy a new pre 95 loom a few years back?) for a few hundred quid, you wouldn’t need to fight the damn harness through the engine bay, swear at the hole that the block goes through for the ECU. But then aren’t you running 740s on stock turbos?
  19. Seems like a lot of faff and expense to negate the requirement for a joint for the injectors.
  20. Have a look bud. I have a feeling that relay isn’t a fancy pants Nissan con part but a generic Bosch relay available from your local motor factor.
  21. They often don’t keep the colour. Quite a few of these guys will have a wrap done before along the car away for a big trip, protects the paint and mixes it up a bit.
  22. It’s an option but... it’s not cheap to get a good job done and you can tell a wrap, even a good one.
  23. Very true, but I spend a lot of my life down there and EVERYTHING rusts. Warm moist westery winds are the predominant and on thier journey they pick up plenty of salt spray. In the arse end of Cornwall plastic rusts. If you had to put money on it, £11k of it you’d have to be very through in your inspection to ensure you weren’t buying a boat anchor covered in paint.
