  1. If you changed the ecu it could be that the 95 model ecu you fitted is the later 32 bit type, rather than 16 bit. That may cause problems with an early spec car, possibly a different wiring configuration?
  2. Wasn't Scottywil booted out because of the calender debacle?
  3. Mike Kirby's old Zed was a pearl yellow UK spec. I should know as I still have the front bumper in my garage (and it has the headlamp washer jets - a UK only feature). Gareth
  4. Enter Shikari - Sorry you're not a winner alt-metal at its best!!
  5. What is it they say about glass houses? ...
  6. Bit of help required here folks... I'm looking for somewhere I can download a service manual for a Yamaha RD350 YPVS motorbike. There are a few people advertising pdf versions of this on e-bay so it must be out there somewhere, I'd obviously prefer not to have to purchase it if possible. I have the Haynes book already, just thought the service manual would be helpful. Specifically the model I need to find it for is the RD350LC2 which is the '31K' early model. Any of you internet wizz's can help? Cheers, Gareth
  7. This may be a daft question but where is the backup battery normally located in a car alarm siren, is it in the siren unit itself? If so, are they usually replaceable or are they a rechargeable non-serviceable fixed unit? I can't see how I can open the siren unit on my Scorpion alarm as it appears sealed. Cheers.
  8. Always loved watching Agassi play, the guy wore his heart on his sleeve and always gave 100%. The blokes playing today are good effective players, but have no apparent passion for the game. You've only got to listen to an interview of Andy Murray to see that, the guy sounds like a robot on anti depressants. Agassi will be missed, sad day for tennis...
  9. V-power is 99 octane compared to Optimax which was 98. V-power is the repalcement for Optimax which is being phased out. I'm now using it and the difference I noticed is that when the turbos spool up, the punch is harder. The top end is no real difference to Optimax though. Great for traffic light drag races as the owner of a Yamaha R6 was shocked to find out last weekend ;) :D Gareth
  10. Yes, that was/is Dave Cs car, last time I saw it it was partly stripped in his back garden looking rather sorry for itself. Great shame.
  11. Rest in peace... Gareth & Melissa

  13. My missus who works at Shell sent me this just now, looks like V-Power is now available... SHELL UK launches Shell V-Power - providing its customers with ‘Ferrari fuel for the road’. Shell UK today launches its latest generation of performance unleaded fuel - Shell V-Power. Available across the UK, the new Shell V-Power formulation builds on the highly successful Shell Optimax premium fuel brand launched in 2001. The same Shell international scientists who develop the Ferrari Formula 1 racing fuels have created a unique fuel blend that is designed to get more power and responsiveness from your vehicle. Instrumental to Shell V-Power’s development has been the working relationship forged between Shell and Ferrari over the last 50 years across the Grand Prix circuits of the world. The Ferrari Formula 1 car provides Shell scientists with a unique cutting-edge mobile laboratory enabling fuels to be developed and tested under the most severe conditions, benefiting from instant feedback and analysis. Findings are then fed back into Shell’s road fuel development programmes. The result: a fuel for customers who understand that not all fuels are the same. I. Shell V-Power contains Shell's unique Friction Modification Technology (FMT) as used by the Formula 1 Ferrari team in their 2006 racing fuels. This is designed to help the engine turn more freely and improve performance. II. Shell V-Power has an octane rating of 99 RON, designed to provide more power and improved responsiveness in many modern cars. III. Shell V-Power contains a powerful cleaning formula designed to improve engine responsiveness by removing power-robbing deposits, helping the fuel to burn more effectively and the engine to run more smoothly. John Rasmussen, UK Retail Director said, “This is a proud day for Shell Retail. Shell V-Power allows our customers to fill-up with a performance fuel derived directly from our Formula 1 technical partnership with Ferrari”. He went on: “Our relationship with Ferrari helped us introduce the first premium performance fuel to the UK market in 2001. Shell V-Power builds on that proven motor sport heritage, moving the market forward again; delivering hard-fought-for track innovation, such as FMT, to the road and our customers. Shell V-Power, like no other Shell fuel before it, caters for those customers all across the UK who are looking for a fuel designed to help extract additional responsiveness from their vehicles.”
  14. I may be there as I can get free entrance, just depends on the weather/wife...
  15. 6.00pm Sunday. Black zed with tinted windows and dark rear lights. You were coming past the Chester Zoo car park entrance on the A41 heading towards Ellesmere Port. I think it was Jap spec on a J plate. I was in my Vectra estate ( :x: ) coming the other way. Sure I saw club stickers in the side windows.
  16. Very sad to hear this, r.i.p. John, our thoughts are with his family.
  17. Could also possibly be sticking lifter(s). They can make the top end sound rattley. Plenty of hints on how to try and remedy this if you do a search.

  19. I had thought about that but apparently they binned the rear wing completely and used a vertical 'fin' instead to keep it in a straight line. They also had to jack the suspension up because of the bumpy surface. So yes, it probably had much more downforce but it probably weighed less than half the zed to start with.
  20. Yes, I understand they are classed differently but the point I'm trying to make is that irrespective of what record Honda are chasing, its interesting to see they are struggling to reach the speeds the Zed achieved.
  21. This has been puzzling me for a few days. Honda F1 have just been out in America trying to set a 400kmh speed record with one of their old V10 cars. They narrowly missed breaking the record but it was quite close. In 1991 the tuning company Jun hit 419kmh with a modded 300zx, setting a world record for its class that I believe still stands. Now this was 15 years ago, with a much heavier, less aerodynamic car. I would guess that the 300zx had some monster bhp but surely the F1 car would not be that much less powerful. The F1 car would definately have a huge power to weight ratio advantage over the zed surely? You would of thought that the F1 car would have been much more capable than it was, my question is why it couldn't beat a 15 year old road car record? (p.s. the Zed was red, so that answers the fastest colour car question  )
