  1. Think that it might be one of the Do-Luck ones, can't decide if I like it or not TBH.
  2. Paid for tickets this lunchtime by bank transfer @ Lloyds TSB in Ellesmere Port Cheers, Gareth
  3. Does anyone have a guide for replacing the handbrake shoes or a picture of the shoes on the hub? I had to take mine off to change some wheel studs and am not 100% on how they go back together (particularly the plate type thing which goes at the top of the assembly. Cheers, Gareth
  4. Thanks for that Jack, definitely food for thought. I think I need to take a good look at how much I can do without dropping the subframe and go for that. As for how long I intend keeping the car, who knows? I know that it is getting on on years and so 'damage-limitation' is the name of the game rather than full restoration. Gareth
  5. 4 for me please, bank transfer will be done tomorrow...
  6. Calendar 1 for me!
  7. Was thinking about this as quite a few of the bushes need replacing as they are perished. I can't decide how big a job that would be though, and if its beyond my means. Thanks for the hints guys.
  8. Just had my back wheel off to sort out some dodgy wheel studs and I couldn't fail to notice that theres quite a lot of surface rust on the suspension arms etc. (yes its a UK car!). I can use a wire brush or one of those drill mounted jobbys to clean everything up but I was wondering what paint to use to 'dress' all the bare metal afterwards. Would Hammerite do or is there something better I can use? Obviously, it needs to be corrosion resistant and preferably brush applied. Cheers, Gareth
  9. Are you sure its not the the manifold itself? They're very susceptable to cracking as I found out to my cost (£200 at the main dealer to sort :headvswal ). Apparently Vauxhall made them out of plasticine rather than metal...
  10. I'm sure their not ignoring you....! Mine does this when cold - its a pretty common problem. The prop shaft centre bearing is usually the reason for this when it gets old and perished, you'll probably find it usually reduces the longer you drive (as the rubber bush in the bearing gets warmer and softer). Maybe the cold weather at the moment is making it more obvious. Could be something else but the bearing is probably the first thing to check. HTH. Gareth
  11. Hi Jeff, Thanks for that (I think!). Is there any simple way of confirming if the wheel studs are stretched? Also, do you know if they are a fairly simple job to replace? I'll have to get onto the dealer in Chester and price up replacements - should I replace all of the studs on the rear (10) or just the ones that have lost nuts? Thanks for the warning Jeff. Gareth
  12. Don't have to use mine unless I want to, but do have a million and one jobs to do on it anyhow so its sitting in the back of the garage for now.
  13. Credit where its due... Your car is EXACTLY how I'd planned to do mine should funds ever allow. Just makes me want it done even more now :(
  14. I'm not working as such but I am on call over new year so no festive cheer :duffer: for me as I have to be able to get to work in a sober state within 1 hour. :headvswal
  15. Notice your from Chester, it wasn't good old Hartwells was it?! (The only garage where 10 gallon hats are part of the uniform) :nelson:
  16. Had a problem with the Zed yesterday. Started it up, it would rev up to about 1500rpm then drop right down momentarily to below 500rpm (normally cutting out). It was also cutting out when you reach the bite point to move off, you'd have to give it loads of throttle to get the car moving. Anyone have ideas to why it might be doing this? It starts up fine on the first turn of the key but then it does this... Cheers.
  17. I had a new front plate done at Halfords. On walking out of the store I realised they had mixed the digits up.! Never a good idea having a spotty dyslexic teenager responsible for number plates
  18. Congratulations to you and your missus. I'm keeping my wife away from the computer as I write this - she's trying to ensnare me too! All the best. :duffer:
  19. I need to get someone to fit a socket in my ECU for me to fit my upgraded chip. How much should I expect to pay to get that done and is it a job my local friendly TV repair shop could do for me? If so, do any of the Chester/Wirral members know of anywhere reasonable to take it? Cheers
  20. I've already been at work for 1/2 an hour :( At least I'm being paid today to be an 'early riser' :D
  21. I for one would have to say that I love the front end - it just looks so mean and aggressive. Imagine what it must look like when you see that coming up behind you in your rear view mirror! Hats off to you
  22. Slipknot - Disasterpiece :headvswal
  23. I struggle incredibly during the week to get up yet at the weekend its 7.00am on the dot and I'm wide awake  I normally go and walk the dog for something to do - he thinks its his birthday :D
