  1. The BP fuel is only actually 97 ron as I recall, Shell Optimax is the only one I know thats higher...
  2. Thats the Spookmeister, or Spooky to everyone else. None of your fancy thoroughbred dog though, £50 from a farm in North Wales as a pup  , though both parents were proper working dogs. He's the reason I own the Vectra estate rather than a saloon car - not that that's any excuse though
  3. Just remembered :o also have a 1983 Yamaha RD350LC ypvs in the garage. Absolutley original with only 8000 miles on the clock... 2 stroke power
  4. Believe it or not, my passion for all things Nissan started with the purchase of a nearly new (at the time) 1996 Nissan Almera 1.4. I may be ridiculed for this but it is one of the best handling cars I've ever driven!. One of my favourite stories is me chasing a Golf VR6 down country lanes and he just couldn't shake me  . I still have it, its done 97000 miles without a single hiccup and the missus uses it almost daily. God bless Nissan... Oh, and er, my daily driver is a year 2000 Vectra 2.0 GLS estate, cough, cough :nono:

Am I the only one finding this all a bit boring? Can someone wake me when he's gone???
  6. Married for nearly 2 years but it took her 11 to drag me down the aisle kicking and screaming :D disclaimer: If for some bizarre reason my wife reads this then... "it was only a joke dear and yes I'll go and cut the lawn straight after finishing the washing up"
  7. Agree with this, under TUPE the new owners have to take on your contract as is. Its there to protect the rights of the employee under circumstances like yours where ownership of the business changes. Legally theres not much of a leg for them to stand on IMO...
  8. It may be a little far for you, I dont know, but Dave C has a ConZult system and I'm sure he wouldn't mind taking a look. He's on the Wirral. Try sending him a PM... HTH Gareth
  9. Reading this is making me cring, the head gasket has gone on my Vectra this morning and I have just had towed to a garage. Wonder how many of the above they'll try and pull! Still philosophical about it at the moment, I'm sure that will change when they ring me to quote for repair :headvswal
  10. Approx £600 in 4 months and this includes NOTHING to enhance the car, its just to get the damn thing working right... I do have a secret shopping list that the missus doesn't know about for when the cars sorted though ;)
  11. lol! I should offer mine up, its multitude of problems would bring you all back to your senses!!! :D
  12. The GTO/3000GT is a very good car but bloody heavy and as I recall has very limited tuning potential on standard turbo's etc... Its a matter of personal choice but I've found there is something about the 300zx that gets under your skin. I think it is a much more emotive car than the Mitsi - its not just a piece of machinery/technology... (I'm sure people on here will know what I'm trying to get at)
  13. Do it yourself! if you have the ISO adaptor, its dead easy. My Sony headunit took me 30 minutes to fit and I'm no einstein when it comes to electrics... :D
  14. Hi, It turned out the ecu was knackered and so when you switched the ignition off, there was still a current going to the egi relay from the ecu. I got a 2nd hand ecu from one of the guys on here, changed it over and its now ok. I'm sure I've since read that if you charge the battery on the ZX with it still connected, it can damage the ecu. I had a look inside the old ecu after and nothing was obviously burnt out but it doesn't work properly any more. Hope this helps...
  15. I've just PM'd you his mobile number, try that. Gareth
  16. Ditto. I've had my most productive day in weeks! Don't you people know I have a reputation as a lazy git to uphold?!?
  17. Thanks for that, I'm not looking for a showroom finish right now, just trying to tart it up a bit. I've come across a spray anti stonechip protection by a company called Hycote. Has anyone tried using this???
  18. Morning all... :p Just in the process of tidying up the sills and rear wheel arches on my zed at the moment. As funds and my time are a bit low at the mo, I want to just patch up the sills, so I am in the process of grinding and sanding back, filling and then respraying the areas. One thing I'm having trouble with though is the anti stone chip rippley stuff. For now I just want to redo it where I've ground it back, rather than removing the lot to smooth the sills over. The problem is I'm not sure what stuff to use. I have been told that its just underseal - but I'm not convinced. Has anyone used anything thats done the job reasonablly well?
  19. Thanks for that vijay, I'd seen the twinturbo.net faq but not the ttzd.com. The ttzd.com is more explicit in how to do it. :duffer:
  20. Just tried to do the o2 sensor diagnostic in an effort to solve my longstanding overfuelling, rough running problems and I can't get any result. Am I doing the test right? 1) Warm engine up 2) Take to 2000rpm 3) Turn screw on ecu same way as when doing ecu diagnostic The led is doing nothing at all - it stays off completely. Now am I doing the test wrong or are my o2 sensors up the spout? If the sensors are indeed up the spout, how much do they cost and are they a diy job? Answers on a postcard please (seriously, any help would be great! :D )
  21. Where I work, or at least how it feels...
  22. I'm in Upton mate. It can't be me whose getting you b******ed, I've walked further than this cars been driven since I've had it :D
  23. A dodgy AFM will cause this type of problem, try an ecu check and see what codes come up. HTH
  24. Not sure about the Pina Colada, I'm more of a Gin & Tonic guy but...
