  1. Apparently its a common fault on the 150bhp version of the diesel. Problem has also been found on other models with the same engine and as yet there doesn't seem to be a proper fix. Some people are being to told to take the car for a rag along the motorway to burn the carbon off, others have had to have an ecu reprogram. It put me off buying the diesel Zafira so bought the missus an 06 plate 1.8 petrol instead as it has the new 140bhp vvti engine. Even the dealer admitted to us there seemed to be an 'issue'.
  2. http://www.zclub.net ;)
  3. Some useful info here: http://www.geocities.com/skypluswss/hdd.htm
  4. Just logged on this morning and read this, my deepest sympathy to you both. Be strong for each other. Gareth
  5. Repairs can be disproportionally expensive. A mate had one that the heater matrix went on it, Renault wanted the shirt off his back to repair it. And then theres the electrics, lets just say I wouldn't ask a frenchman to wire a plug for me never mind wire a car...
  6. More worrying is the 'collection' on the side table !!!
  7. Will probably be for sale soon once I put it back together and get the engine refreshed, have you seen what these go for now?
  8. Johnny Cash is cool, just dont tell anyone you think so :wack: :x:
  9. Some good responses, thanks a lot for that. I think part of the problem is that in the back of my mind I still fancy something turbocharged, unless it is something special. I quite like the idea of the Pulsar but the ones around my price range tend to be dogs. The Sunny is just an older version of the Almera GTI and to be honest I've seen some very late model Almeras for less than 2K. I have seen a few scoobies in my price range as well though :wack: :x:
  10. I thought about the S13 but looking on SXOC they all appear to be rot boxes. I'd prefer to buy something that didnt need restoration, i.e. just buy/drive/chuck it in the back of the garage when not used. (Shame though because I am growing to like the looks)
  11. At home we have gone from having 2 Nissans in the household to none in the space of a few months. The Zed went before xmas and the wifes Almera went last week. I now realise that I used to enjoy driving them much more than my daily driver (both for differing reasons though, the Zed was great for the power/performance experience and the Almera was a great handling car on the twisties honestly!). Have started to think about getting something else to replace them. I would like another 300ZX but I think at the moment it isn't viable due to cost of ownership (first child due next month!), so have been considering other cars but would like some feedback from other people. So far I have considered the following: MR2 (N/A or Turbo) 200SX S14 Celica GT (ST202) Almera GTI Honda Prelude VTI Don't have a budget as such, but have been looking at anything up to 2 to 2.5K. Its not going to be a daily driver, so practicality isn't important. The wife has got quite safety concious due to the baby so airbag(s) or a good safety record are a bonus. Has anyone owned any of these cars? Are there any other models that I ought to consider? Cheers, Gareth
  12. Mine did it the once, standing at the front of the car it looked as if it was coming from the front right hand side of the engine when you looked at the pool of water on the floor. Bled the system properly and it never happened again...
  13. More than likely didn't bleed all the air out of the system when they refilled it. Water is probably coming out of the expansion tank overflow. HTH
  14. Ouch! Thats nasty, hopefully the guys on here can help you out with the bits needed to put it right.
  15. Look like Skyline GTR wheels off the older R32 model...
  16. I just pulled the fusible link for the fuel pump each time and then let Bob at Safe & Sound have a play until he worked out the problem :D
  17. I had this when I first bought my Zed, turned out to be a dodgy ECU. Bought one off a member here, swapped mine out and never had a problem from that day on. I guess there was a dry joint or something on the ECU circuit board but never did fully establish where. Gareth
  18. Definitely nothing as yet, will contact you later in the week if it hasn't turned up. Thanks Steve. Gareth
  19. Mines still not turned up??? Getting deja vu from last year :x:
  20. No reason why you shouldn't, the only thing you need to consider is the impedence. Car speakers are usually 16ohms whereas home speakers are 8ohms. As long as you are using them with a reasonable source there shouldn't be a big problem. It ain't going to be audiophile quality but for background music it should be ok. Gareth
  21. Paypal payment made and PM sent. cheers, Gareth
  22. I'll take one please, and will paypal the money in a moment. Thanks, Gareth
  23. Thats very wrong.... ....but hilarious :smash: :smash:
  24. I've got a Vectra 2.0GLS on a W plate, pretty reliable and cheap to run/insure/repair. Boot is nice and big and doesn't have a lip on it so its good for our dog getting in and out. 140bhp of throbbing power!!!
  25. It was probably this: http://auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/ You'll need to run it through Babelfish to translate though. Gareth
