I recently bought a second Z its a NA 90 5spd...

Engine couldn't start so i change the engine and the computer for a 95

We start the engine... everything seems to go fine...

The engine couldn't stop :mac1: once we stop the engine.

the PTU started to smoke and it was really hot.

any idea?

If you changed the ecu it could be that the 95 model ecu you fitted is the later 32 bit type, rather than 16 bit. That may cause problems with an early spec car, possibly a different wiring configuration?

I think the ECU's are interchangeable between the earlier and later models.

I wasn't aware that much current flowed through the PTU, I know they get warm, but not really 'hot', except perhaps when the ignition is left turned on for ages. Perhaps you have a short somewhere.

sounds like a short somewhere, change it for another and try again!

I guess the best solution is to get a brand new EFI harness?
