urgent help!! 300zx decat pipe fitting
Garage has just got back to me saying there's two problems fitting the decat pipes, There's lambda sensors (well theres cat temp sensors I told 'em - told him to slice em off) but unknown to me there are two metal pipes about 1" diameter going into the stock pipes coming from the inner arch area - wtf are these? can I disconnect them? will they affect running? Also when I take off the cat temp sensors I'll assume they'll leave me a red light on the dash, how can I stop this - just earth the wires? Cheers!

In at the deep end and in need of HELP :(
Get the car transported to a Z specialist or reputable engine builder buddy. It may be something small, it may be something terminal - but best to let an expert give it the once over :) best of luck!

low but comfy coilovers?
atm my car rattles about like nobodies business. Half is down to the prop im sure, half is down to the suspension. I haven't had the wheels off yet (lazy me) but I'd punt a guess it has tired stock shocks and lowering springs. The front is offset about 15mm lower than the rear as is often the way. I'd like to have height adjustable suspension but only 1 set of coilovers I've had in the past have come close to comfortable and those were Tein HA's (like superstreets with more damping adjusments). I had a set of superdrifts but never got a chance to try :( . The rest were sh*te despite being big reputable names, hugely stiff to the point of flexing the chassis dangerously on road camber. Basically it's come to the point where I want to keep the car a similar height to what the front is at now, but will never have the guarantee springs will evenly lower all around so want to go for coilies. What would people recommend, preferably with first hand experience? I dont mind the odd judder over potholes but really would like it comfortable as possible! My dads uzz32 has air suspension which rocks  low as you like and silent over bumps.

I think I need convincing... either way
gunmetal grey is an all round winner on the 300.. so is black and white.. and I wouldnt mind seeing one in renault blue (like on the fancy meganes)

Mongoose quad tip cat back idle noise question!!
Yep far too quiet.. on the plus side the police think it's a stock exhaust and it's loudISH when just bumbling around the street at 1k-1.5k ... but not rawcus by any means

Exactly what Legrath says, needs simple skirts to match it up! And with that usually comes with the necessity for a rear bumper/lip. The bomex one is usually the least offensive I find. It will require 18" wheels too minimum to make it look right. Otherwise not a bad choice if painted/fitted right and goes with your nose panel :)

Zed peformance figures 0-60 ad 0-100
Racelogic Trac ctrl? Bin that, get some good tyres on the back :tt2: I have Falken FK452's and running slightly upped power (basic stage 1, boost jets, intake, chip, exhaust) and although it can break traction in 1st once the boost kicks in it's barely noticeable and my tyres are low on tread too. Seriously even in the wet I have never had a need for traction control - the 300 is exceptionally well set up to keep grip! If it goes it gets itself back in line very quickly, assuming you have good tyres. My 0-60 is very good, must be around the 5.0 sec mark there's a bit of a reduction in acceleration from there on but it's still impressive! Also given there's sod all weight loss you can do to the front of an already front-heavy car I don't know if I'd bother to be honest. Are you still running the T25's or a varient? T28's take a bit longer to spool.

Blow off valve question
Wastegate Chatter sound for me.. blank all those damn bov's off and turn up the boost a little TSCH SHH SHH SHH SHHH .. To be honest though it's a little quieter than the average atmos bov and doesn't result in the same flameage out the boot, but then I also haven't noticed any loss in performance (or gain - which is fine and expected). I used to have an S13 with a blitz SS I believe and a stock exhaust with a cannon on the back (all fitted by previous owner), and sorry to say but it was awesome, touch the throttle in 5th at 3k revs and let go BOOOM out the exhaust!

I Welcome Myself To The World Of 300zx
Just by listening to your problem it sounds more like the kick down isn't working correctly. If I'm doing 60 in 5th on a manual and I put the foot down the power isn't instantanious. Still a pearl white 300 is a rare thing :gunsmilie:

Steering wheel boss not working :(
managed to sort it Gonzo, many thanks though :) As it needed earted I just looped a wire round one of the unused wheel nut holes and attached it to the wheel. It was more the contact springs at the back weren't contacting the metal slip ring, so I just bent them :p Rough but it's done the job woo :)

Steering wheel boss not working :(
hmm so where does the hicas come into it?? I just went hell for leather, snapped out the middle plastic ring and ring with degree holes in it and slotted the boss/wheel in fully. Works perfectly?! No hicas lights nothing. Doesn't feel any different cornering?

Steering wheel boss not working :(
BAH! SPent good money on what I was told was a hicas momo boss which came of a TT zed. It looks like any other boss but has 2 metal spikes/prongs out the back. After doing some reading it looks like the hicas bosses should have 2 holes so the factory hicas ring can sit nicely in it etc etc. Anyway I fudded up because I had the bright idea of customising the hicas ring to fit the boss by sanding down the plastic protrusions and drilling 2 holes for the metal prongs to go through (since it's just a solid plastic disc which goes round at the same rate as the wheel). Turns out it wasn't such a great idea as when I tighten the nut up it causes some plastic friction so the steering wheel, though easy to use doesn't return to centre :crying: So now I'm thinking I might just ditch the hicas ring.. so what's the worst that's going to happen if I do that?! Also do I just unscrew the 4 screws holding it on and sit the boss further back? What are the metal prongs acctually for? Cancelling the indicators? Help :cursing:

Dump valves for ZX TT?
I personally have a fondness for old Blitz SS's but finding genuine ones are hard.. finding ones cheap with fitting kit are harder. There's a pair on yahoo auctions Japan just now with hardpipes, but it's not worth the money they command to me - I like the noise but I wouldnt spend money on it when it's better spent elsewhere :)

if import, 2 screws in the top a little tug and bobs your uncle. Best thing to do it get a wide flat-head screwdriver and tap in gently and the angle it out bit by bit

Knightrider Zed, newbie question
I hope that's not right because mines shoots up to 7 on full boost and I haven't touched the boost up to now.

LOL! What a night with electrics!
I've installed about 10 CD players in different cars and don't bother with adapters as I'm comfortable with wiring etc. and found a wee alpine CD player as my car had some shoddy Ford Transit-special JVC junk installed. Anyway I had spliced all the wires after cross-referencing and cross checking them and had the CD player sat by the gearstick to test it worked before reassembling etc. The arial shoots up. Hmmmm :helpsmilie: I have a look again to check I haven't done anything dodgy.. I put it into 2nd ign. and hold power down. No joy! I jump down and check the fuse box, nothing gone there, the fuse on the back of the CD player was also fine! So I sat in the house by the fire for about 2 hours thinking it through wire for wire looking at the loom! NOTHING is wrong!! :cursing: Anyway I then got back into the teeny space behind the player and had a good mooch around at the stock wiring - wait a minute.. where does the earth go to?! no.. where's the earth??!! THE CAR EARTHS ON THE CAGE!!! So I plug the player on, the arial shoots up, I slide it into the cage... the arial goes back down. I put on 2nd ign. and I sit in disbeleif as it fires up and starts playing! Delighted I got it going, but all that thinking for something so stupidly simple.
