Flol at this thread! Seriously though that omp wheel is nice, is it a 330mm one?

tt to n/a
If you got rid of the turbos you would have a low compression vg which would be of less use than a sack of mouldy potatoes unless you were planning on bolting a big supercharger to the top.

Hmmm not sure if I fancy having a lower top speed ... will look up the mod though to find out a bit more!

pcd problem
really?! I suppose the tyres would come into play, aswell as the suspension drop (camber alterations) If running correct camber and good sized tyres yeah I can def see you needing a pull - but if running a slight stretch and a bit of neg camber I woulda thought a wee roll would suffice - could be wrong. My 9.5 et25's dont come anywhere near the arch on 265's.

Hey Quavey, what's this about the n/a rear end? Is the diff a different ratio? Is it still LSD or open? Does it really make a noticable difference in acceleration?

pcd problem
They should fit with a very slight lip roll.

What REALLY grinds your gears?
Somebody today ground my gears! It's a bikers rally - I was at at the pumps for 10 mins waiting for the guy infront of me to finish filling up, and just as he was ready to drive off another biker came up beside me and drove right in despite my engine running etc! ARGH

Yeah I'm going to agree with FunkySi here - having an unknown chip (or any ecu signal-altering device) is worth replacing for something that you know matches engine spec. I had an Apexi VAFC in my old prelude bb4, and though it was quick, vtec was rough, there was a tendancy to missfire when you put the foot down for a few seconds and generally running wasn't great. I replaced it for a specificially designed sleepy chip and the difference was night and day - smooth running, smooth vtec, delimited, revs raised a little. Was perfect! I'm just waiting on my John Dixon ECU arriving :D:D:D

illuminated rear panel on ebay
I got one but no piccies, to be honest I'd swap it for one without a rear lit up 300zx as I'd preffer it without

Bad luck for new owner
fabulous! I've sent you an email

consumption
welcome to the 300zx's least redeeming feature hehe. If you drive with low revs like a saint it's acctually not much worse than the average town car (1.8-2.0). But the second you start boosting to impress the kids the fuel consumption is ridiculous, but what would you expect? :)

lowering and alloy size
ps- i run 17's (8.5 and 9.5) with the 50mm or so drop

lowering and alloy size
you could probably fit 22" chrome wheels without modifications, but you wouldn't want to I'd highly doubt. 18's seems to be the main choice whilst remaining tasteful but I have seen 19's. You can still get a good drop on 18's without flaring. What dictates body modifications is more the offset and width of wheels. As for a drop in ride height, Ive had a prelude running 16's and I could fit 2 fingers under the front bumper, it was driveable but not great, looked hard though (well to me). The 300, I dont know in mm but mines has a couple of inches to the ground from the front bumper and it's still got a soft ride (id guess around 50mm or so) it suits me down to the ground, without coilovers though you will get a front or rear bias and a level ride height is unlikely.

ideal shift changers
Good point Quavey! Comparing Nissan turbo engines there's a good comparison- RB25 Neo is exactly like what you describe, its got pussy torque low down but a good second pull at 5k and you can rev it up pretty high but it just feels risky lol. The VG is all low down manly grunt - but the drop in torque isn't welcome. I'd like the best of both worlds, a load of manly grunt, then another dollop at 5k hehe :D
-
ideal shift changers
thats 1 random q.. i generally change at 6k max because most of the grunt on my mostly stock Z comes in at 3-4k then peters off a little

Red strosek n/a on ebay
hmm I dunno for some reason I think the Z suits sharp lines a lot more than it does being smooth and bulbous - I'm definately not in the fan club of this bodykit, but then I don't mind the colour ;)

Knock Knock

Not been around much lately
sounds like you had a rough time of it dude! You've proved your strength by pulling through!! So nice one, and looks like you're starting to see the benefits of it too, hope things go on the up mate

zed or gto?
Looks - I'd pick the GTO over the Z, both facelift and prefacelift look utterly drop dead gorgeous in white. Interior - again I'd pick the GTO, I just like the design of it but it's hugely subjective - I have a Z with grey tweed it doesn't get worse so that's just plain bad luck Engine - dear god the Z EVERY TIME, the gto's aren't that fast, the z as standard doesn't FEEL fast but it does the job, I'm about to find out what the 14psi upgrade/ecu/open exhaust/fmic job feels like so I'm sure the feeling will change considerably, and it's also a cheap car to tune bolt-on wize, pleanty of second hand bits on the go! Driving - yep, the Z, the 4wd isn't a brilliant system on the GTO it's nowhere near as sure footed as an impreza, it feels a bit more like a cruiser - like a soarer for example to drive but with a bit more oomph. I've had or had extensive passanger seat time in the cars above so talking from some experience. Frankly my Z isn't all daisies, it has pleanty little flaws which once they become a real problem will require expensive and time consuming repairs, but the same can be said for any high performance car which is getting on. The only big boy I havent had a try of is a supra twin turbo, I seriously want a crack in one, they are certainly the nicest interior wize!

'Coooar, nice car mate!'
Hmm luck you, I've already had a bunch of chav's call it a sh*t car and today had an old freak weirdo in an orange boiler suit stop infront of my car and stare at me solid for 5 seconds before kicking my front bumper. I downed the window and started shouting and he just walked off.

does fmic involve cutting 99 spec bumper?
hehehe no chance I love it more than the rest of the car :p

Seems much cheaper to go the FMIC route though FunkySi.. plus I really do like the look of it though that's a secondary concern.
