how many miles has your vg engine lasted
There are 2 issues with this : 1. Many of those 60-70k imports could just as easily be on more than double that, without the owners knowing. 2. Mileage is not a particulaly relevant factor in engine failure. Maintenance is. Plus most engine failures are down to external components like Radiator pipe or oil feed pipe split.

Damn, sorry to hear that Jaffa

how many miles has your vg engine lasted
Trouble is most Z's in the UK are imports.......which means most dont know what mileage they are really on !

A thread of people with Z's on original engines and turbos with over 200k miles, and some over 300k miles !! http://www.300zxclub.com/showthread.php?t=146604&highlight=highest+mileage

WOW get your drift on!
damn...thats so tempting me to buy one. I used to race a Team Associated RC10 and a Yokomo YZ-10 at Club level. Spent fortunes on it. This was about 13/14 years ago now though. I enjoy making and modifying them more than actually driving them. Drifting them does look fun though.

300zx tt engine info
Its a decent time, and fairly typical for Most z's with the usual mods. I wouldnt consider the Z to be that heavy though. Sure its no mx5, but its similar weight to most high performance cars - Skyline, Supra, M3, Porsche 911 and a lot lighter than many others. I look forward to doing some timed measurements with my lightweight Slicktop though. Its true though that the Z's real strength is in mid-range and top speed runs, rather than acceration from standstill.

300zx tt engine info
yes, a very noticable improvement in performance. Really brings the car alive. As an example, here is a comparison test I did some years ago for my old TT Manual on stock boost and the on 1 bar boost. Never had that particular car dynoed but I would expect it to be around 360-370, so 400 would be an even greater difference.

desicration?
The Vh45de is a 4.5 litre V8 that was fitted in a relatively detuned state to the Infiniti Q45 , which is Nissans Luxury Car range. The engine was also used in the 300zx le-mans and other Nissan race cars. Nissan originally considered it for the 300zx but decided it was too expensive and they were worried about buyers being put of by a large engine when a lot of the world was approaching an economic recession at the time. John Dixon had done a fantastic Vh45de conversion to his 300zx, bored out to 5.0 litre, with individual throttle bodies, dry sump setup and an aggressive Cam setup. The engine is considered by many to be the best ever built by Nissan, and is essentially built for Racing, then detuned for the Road. Think Racing Ferrari v8, rather than lazy yank V8. The VQ30det was fitted to the Nissan gloria, Cima, Leopard. Those cars used to use the VG30de but the VQ30det replaced it. Its the a 3.0 V6 like our Z32 engine, but is much lighter being all alumniumuim with better breathing and lighter internals, allowing it to rev faster and higher. Its basically a more efficient, stronger, lighter, modernised version of our engine. Nissan used it in twin turbo form in 350z and GT-R race cars, replacing the vg35 and the rb26 It does'nt sound as impressive as a big V8, but it is cheaper and easier to install and many would say its more in keeping with the Z32's original design, but an improvement over the original. There is quite a bit of aftermarket support for this engine. Both engines are about 300bhp in standard form.

desicration?
Why bother with the Rb25, when its the same procedure to fit the better Rb26 ? Any engine swap is a lot fo work, with a lot Custom fabrication of parts. and 4wd does'nt come into it. Were talking about fitting the engine here, not the drivetrain. its been done many times before. Bear in mind that while its easier to work on, as there is more room, the VG makes more power and torque than the RB engines for the same modifications. personally If I was going for an engine swap it would be would : VH45DE (the engine the 300zx would of got if it werent for cost issues ) or VQ30DET(T) (the engine that replaced the VG30DETT and the 300zx would of got if they had continued production)

anyone got any pictures of
Spend as much as you can on the Front speakers - These are the ones that matter and is where all your Sound quality comes from. Go for Components with crossovers if you can. 6x9's for the rear are "ok", but the rears are just for extra sound fill/rear passengers, I personally would'nt bother. If you search the forum you should find a lot of boot build pics from others.

Has a Z32 ever competed at TOTB?
I see Bobgenie (presumably?) in the results for todays Saturday Bootcamp - Nissan 300zx 3rd in the top speed race - http://www.totb.co.uk/live_results/saturday/Flyers_Class_B.htm Nissan 300zx 7th in the 1/4 mile Drag race - http://www.totb.co.uk/live_results/saturday/Drag_Strip_Class_B.htm Nissan 300zx 7th in the Handling course - http://www.totb.co.uk/live_results/saturday/Circuit_Class_B.htm (webpage is very annoying as its acting like a slideshow the page updates to next class every 15 seconds) Some healthy times there, well done Bob !

S15 Silvia or 350Z
If I missed your point then its becuase you went from talking about how quick the 350z was, and then to how the 300zx NA didnt not live up to it ;) The 350z is a decent handling car in stock form, but a 300zx SWB NA Manual is smaller and lighter but you need to keep in mind that most Z's are running around on 20yr old tired suspension. A Revamp, even with stock components, but especially with a decent aftermarket setup does wonders for how the car feels and responds.

Recommended Tyre Pressure
Fronts 32-34 psi Rear 34-36 psi Anything in the above range will suit, and calculating the pressure with tyre details and vehicle mass will also put you in the abvoe range. The exact "optimum" Pressure will vary with load, driving style and conditions, tyre brand and personal preference. I hope nobody ever inflates to the pressure shown on the side of the tyre wall !!!! - This is the Max rating per load rating and pressure should be knowhere near this number.

S15 Silvia or 350Z
As much as I like the s15, its a very attractive design, I always see it as a lesser car to the 350z. Same as the S13 and S14 compare to the 300zx. If you were hoping for S15 and 350z performance then you should of gone TT

F1 live races only on SKY from 2012.. :(
The concern I have for F1 over this is with Sponsorship. F1 relies heavily on sponsorship investment, which relies on reaching large audiences - if audiences drop then so does Sponsorship. How many viewers will F1 lose becuase of this ? A lot of the more casual watchers will not want to pay for Sky sports if they dont normally have it , and many F1 fans are going to be relunctant to pay extra. Let alone those that dont even have Sky at all, which is a substantial investment and hassle if you dont already have and not previously wanted.

F1 live races only on SKY from 2012.. :(
Yep, Just a tiny tiny drop in the ocean. The BBC is just one of many broadcasters that pay for TV coverage in over 200 countries worldwide. and Income from Media broadcasting is just a very small part of the Multi-billion pound industry that is F1. I already pay my license fee for 99% of programs Im not interested in.....can i get a discount for all of them instead ? The Fee the BBC pays equates to less than 1% of its current TV and Radio program expenditure. Recent BBC viewing figures are at about 6-8 million a race, a 10 year high.

Weed killer....
I was told undiluted Bleach or boiling salted water. Most weed killers I think are designed to kill weeds, but unharm other plants - hence their relative weakness. If the area has no other plant material you need to save, then you can go all out on it.

squeeling belt
You have 3 auxillery belts for the Waterpump, Alternator and Aircon. The most likely one for squeeling on first statup is the Alternator belt, as the alternator works overtime to make up for the charge lost overnight and from starting. The Adjusters can be reached from underneath or above if you move the fan out of the way.
