  1. Its on all Stock pre-99 bumpers, although a lot of people bodycolour it. light sand > plastic primer > Spray
  2. ..and stella and Bazza LOL

David: At age 74 you finally kick the heroine habit! Congratulations. Unfortunately you stopped because you died from an overdose.
  4. ask them what the spring rates are
  5. and CJ's , and ChrisC, Chris Greddys old zed, and others that I cant think of. Full bodykit is going to cost you about £1k. Fitting and spraying £3k-£4k , Suitable width wheels £2k , Coilover suspension to sort arch gaps - £1k
  6. All (that I have ever seen) boost gauges show vacumn as well. A popular option for the Oil pressure and temperature senders is a sandwich plate, that fits between onto the Oil filter location (and you fix the oil filter onto the sandwich plate). The Water temp sender is usually welded into a metal rad hardpipe. A lot of Temp gauges can make use of the stock temp sender (worth fitting a new one at the time though).
  7. If it is a misfire (ie its only running on less than 6 cylinders), which explains both the symptons you descibed, then its less likely to be the plugs and more than likely going to be down to fault with either the PTU, PTU Wiring, Coilpack Connectors, Coilpacks or Injector connectors). Pull off each one of the coilpacks in turn, and you'll find the culprit cylinder when you engine tone/note does'nt change.
  8. Revs will be higher when cold...its part of the "on choke" cold start running mode. However sound like your base idle (and subsequently the TPS too) needs adjusting, which is why it sits at 550rpm and not 750-850 rpm when warm.

With the Stock TB22 turbos the weak point is oil seals, and every set of turbos I have sent off for reconditioning, (with White smoke being the main sympton) has been down to Failed turbo oil seals. I know that Water bypassing is popular with the 200sx, but I have seen early turbo failure several times on the 300zx from water starvation.
  10. As far as I know all the Z parts specialists are mail order only, and dont have shops you can actually visit. SWZ performance are half way construction of an actual Shop at their Garage, but its not open yet and thats mail order too currently.
  11. If its a polyeurothene bumper of decent quality..then up to £100....if its a new fibreglass one, then cost varies depending on quality of fitment (which is usually poor). Prepping for fitment is where the cost lies.

Unfortunatly, white smoke related to a Turbo failure is usually oil getting past the seals, rather than water. Also, stock turbos require water cooling and without it will fail very early.
  13. wish everything was 100%.....there are many possible causes. Vacumn leak, incorrect timing, Dirty throttle valves, TPS , Fuelling fault(such as temp sensor)

Can smell you from here !

Should have me new zed by then, so count me and Miss_Z in. Gloucester was pretty good last time, I;d be up for that....but Im easy ;)
  16. Why !? The Motor that comes in the Z32 is based on the old block, but heavily revised and updated, so much so that the Z32 NA VG30DE is more powerfull than the old Z31 Turbocharged VG30DET !
  17. Nope, SAE is measured with all accessories fitted ;) (the method you mentioned is pre 1972)

with a 0 reading I'd be suprised if it was just the headgasket tbh. I would get the car to one of the 300zx specialists garages. ECU will be fine, providing its mapped for the same gearbox type (auto/manual) as your car, although if you are unsure of its details it might just be worth going for a UK mapped ECU from one of the specialists...prices range from £75-£100

    Count me in
  20. yes, but that makes very little difference. 280 DIN = 276 SAE
  21. Impressive, must be one of the most powerfull NA's out there. You dont see many NA zeds, even with extensive mods putting out over 200 at the wheels. Whats your spec ?
  22. Fly something like 220-230 wheels stock.
  23. Both UK/Euro and Jap are published as 280, and only the U.S is published as 300. (The UK Auto is actually published by Nissan UK as having 263 bhp, compared to 280 for the Manual) Wether there are actually differences between Euro/Jap/US is a whole other debate however.
  24. if there is a difference in power (which many believe there is'nt!) then its not to do with the Turbos.
  25. Turbos are identical on all (except for Impellor size differences between Auto and Manual). TB22, which is a bybrid of the T25 with a smaller impellor. (also 4 bolt instead of 5)
