  1. Nobody highers the compression on a TT engine....you would'nt be able to run any more boost that standard if you did without it detonating the pistons into little pieces. Lowering the compression will allow you to run more boost for higher hp, although it affrects driveablity , giving less bottom end grunt and inferior throttle response.
  2. Unlike many other cars the The stock Z32 ECU is very mappable as it is, and costs around £100 for a remapped chip. Cost will certainly outweigh any real advantages unless your going for a monster setup with 500bhp+ at rear wheels. Standalone ECU management systems are available from £500 upwards. Getting rid of the old stock 15yr+ old EFI wiring loom is not a bad idea, although a new loom can be purchased for around £300 if there are problems with it.
  3. Wheels size will not affect Brakes. 7.5" is the stock front wheel width, but I would recomend fitting 8.5" front with 235 or 245 fronts. For a non-wide arch zed then a 9.5" is a good rear width with 265 or 285 tyres. The same can be fitted for a wide arch zed with the use of spacers on the rear wheels, although you do have the option of going as wide as 12" on the rears and with the correct offset you can get away without the need for spacers.
  4. I've had a lot of experience of both. I would say the Koni's are better quality with finer adjustment. However the KYB's are far easier to adjust, expecially the back. You can easily adust them in seconds while fitted..however you need to remove the Koni rears to adjust them ! Both work well with Eibach or H&R springs.
  5. Like this one (sticky thread at top of the Dyno forum) http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=37514 ;) LOL
  6. 99spec or Smooth. I personally really dislike pram handles.
  7. I spray them with normal car paint. Goes really well with smithys Stainless steel strip badge.
  8. Very much doubt it, but then you would only need about half that power to actually beat a Ninja 6r
  9. Or do the proper conversion and fit a set of UK clocks - http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=91320 ;)
  10. Roundabout. Its what Powerfull RWD cars were made for :D
  11. Salty UK Roads, Incorrect Jacking (causing damage to sills, allowing the elements to attack) and blocked targa drain seals. Import Z32's have the same under protection as UK cars.
  12. Its in the rear section, after the cats. If car has a cat-back performance exhaust fitted then the restrictors are already gone. If you have compltely stock exhaust then you can remove the restrictors with a dremel(or similar). Unbolt exhaust just after the cats, and you will see the restrictor washers.
  13. Not Interblow :)
  14. Standard spec included less as the years went on, and things like Electric seats and even digital climate control became optional. Carpets got thinner, and in some later years they even stopped including insulation in the boot. The Fuel rail is different, not a problem, just means you have to get the later spec style injectors if upgrading. ECU is 64-bit and cant be mapped, but you can fit the 32 bit ECU. The VVT was dropped. Advertised Power remained at 280, although I believe they fitted different cams to compensate. All the really good improvements were in 1999 and 2000, which included Body/Chassis strengthening, Brake improvements (larger Master cylinder) and cosmetic interior and exterior changes.
  15. keep up
  16. ouch, really sorry to see bud.
  17. The Zeds brakes in standard form are "ok". , although many (and like yours by the sounds of it) are not operating fully. Sticking pistons is a common problem. However as for wether its worth upgrading to the Bigger GTR setup...Yes, there is a big improvement....realisticly its the Brake setup Nissan should have fitted as standard on the Z32. on the other hand, you have to also consider that the reason the GTR setup is readily available is that the GTR owners are always upgrading to bigger and better brakes themselves. The GTR setup is a great upgrade for the road - a good cost effective improvement, there are better upgrades out there, better suited to track use but they are a lot more expensive...all depends on your needs.
  18. None of the UK importers will have imported a 300zx newer than 96 in the past few years as its not possible to register them in the UK becuase of SVA laws....this will probably be different for spain, but not sure how this would work with the importer. All TT's came with a spoiler, and only the NA had optional no spoiler. Its does'nt take much to remove the spoiler afterwards.
  19. about 300-320 hp standard, althought takes very little to get her up to 400hp ...and with the work John Dixon is putting into this it will be a LOT more than that....and thats just in NA form Slap a pair of small tubs on with low boost and she will see 600hp+ easily. ..and its lighter and much stronger than the VG There are a few running around with 1000hp and up to 9000rpm on standard internals ! (and double that power with forged internals!) Used a lot in Racing. There is a turbocharged VH45de in a 300zx (named 450zxtt) putting out over 1000hp. There is also a Supercharged one in a Skyline R33 doing 9sec quaters.
  20. Happy Birthday sarah :duffer:
  21. Yes, Im afraid 450 rwhp on your budget just is'nt possible. Its about a 250hp increase over stock, not 150. You would need Bigger turbos, Injectors, Intercoolers, Manifolds..etc and ideally forged pistons with engine rebuild. I would go for - Induction (£100) exhaust (£300) ECU remap and Boost increast to 1bar (£100) Manual Conversion (£1400) KYB AGX and Eibach springs (£500) Anti-roll bars (£25) GTR Brake conversion (£500-£750) Interior retrim (£500-£750) Set of Gauges (£150-£300) replace worn bushes with polybushes (£100-£500) HID Conversion (£150) Those change will transform the car! :) I would also recomend the following for reliablity improvements : EFI Wiring loom replacment Replace all water hoses with Water plenum bypass Series2 PTU
  22. That ATV centre in Blackwater is excellent, you get plenty of air of the jump on main staights :D I'll be up for this meet.
  23. Unfortuantly its got a lot of the "wrong" bits for making money by breaking. NA engine (Broken), Auto gearbox, NA Brakes (91 NA's onwards have TT brakes), Jap clocks ..etc You should still be able to get somewhere between £500 and £1000 in bits if lucky and wait long enough. Personally I think it would be better to source an NA engine and sell as complete car for £1500-£2000. It looks tidy. p.s they are not stock wheels, they are 200sx S14 wheels
  24. At the moment : Peugeot 406 2.1TD GLX Estate Toyota MR2 Rev2 NA Nissan 200sx S13 (currently in bits for Engine rebuild and respray)
