eh up chaps just doin a bit of research for my new toy. i currently have a series 2 93 zed which has pretty much all the toys u can get... dual elec heated seats, digital climate, cruise, etc etc. What i am curious to know is, what am i going to gain and what am i going to lose buying a version S Z (95+)?

I am aware that the version s came with a drivers airbag and that it no longer had a boost gauge in the dash (which isnt really much of a problem as the stock one was always unreliable), but what else will i lose or gain?

im told nissan started to scrimp a bit and went cheap on the interior/gadgets in the later specs...

any help or advise would be appreciated.

AFAIK the drivers airbag was an optional extra on the series 2.

Personally I really don't like the 96 rear spoiler thingy. looks like the one Nissan put on some of Sunnys of the same era. :wack:

Not having a boost gauge isn't really a problem as they don't work most of the time anyway! :wack:

Standard spec included less as the years went on, and things like Electric seats and even digital climate control became optional.

Carpets got thinner, and in some later years they even stopped including insulation in the boot.

The Fuel rail is different, not a problem, just means you have to get the later spec style injectors if upgrading. ECU is 64-bit and cant be mapped, but you can fit the 32 bit ECU.

The VVT was dropped. Advertised Power remained at 280, although I believe they fitted different cams to compensate.

All the really good improvements were in 1999 and 2000, which included Body/Chassis strengthening, Brake improvements (larger Master cylinder) and cosmetic interior and exterior changes.

Unless you have a skinny arse and are under 6' I would avoid the Recaro version S as the seats are really uncomfortable.

ps anyone want to swap a set of absolutely mint set of Version S recaro`s for a set of mint leathers lol

you mean this spoiler???? :) the one i got as said above has no electric seats

heater conrtols are just a twist dial on the pod, no boost gauge but i think the standard fit interior is nicer though. oh has loads of stuff under the bonnet is moved to different places

Im in Iraq at the moment but have asked my old man to take a couple of pics, mine has Recaros and drivers airbag plus digital climate control but no cruise control and no ambient temp sensor its a '95 Version S Recaro TT

Do you have any more information on this? 'tis the first I hear about them strengthening the chassis and body. I have heard of the benefits of filling the chassis conduits.

mine is a 95 tt and yes the carpets are pretty crap but thats why they invented SHAG PILE over carpets !! electronic hicas so no big lump of rusty metal under bonnet, airbag (like thats gonna do anything in 150mph crash !) generally i would say not a lot in it really except perhaps a few less miles on the clock !!
