  1. Yep, sounds like you have a water leak and the water has got to low for the gauge to read. You need to find and repair the leak before driving it again. Hopefully no engine damage will have been done, but unfortunately they are very suseptical to Head gasket failure once overheated. :(
  2. My brother in law has a UK Sti on a 54 plate. It looks modern and has cost him next to nothing to maintain. Interior is plastickly but much better than the classic Scooby. Ride is firm but not overly harsh. Performance is "ok". Its not really my cup of tea tbh. If I was going to go for a newish 4 door sports saloon then It would probably be something from Audi/Bmw/Merc. or If I really wanted to stay jap then an Evo.
  3. Nissan dealer or MJP (in traders section)
  4. There is also two fuse boxes in the engine bay.
  5. Welcome :)
  6. http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=109382&highlight=arb The stock UK rear ARB is a decent upgrade to an Import. For aftermarket the Stillen ARB's are a great buy because they include droplinks and bushes. Plus they are adjustable front and rear.
  7. Pretty confident mine will be around 1350kg (TT with Interior :)) , based on me weighing everything I have removed and fitted. Looking forward to putting it on a weightbridge. .....about 150kg lighter than stock TT slicktop......or about 250kg lighter than a LWB TT :hyper:
  8. Why you say just front ? Its actually the rear that needs to be stiffer on a Jap Import....its weedy in comparison to a UK Rear ARB (fronts are the same).
  9. you can do ECU diagnostics yourself - http://www.ttzd.com/tech/diagnostictech.html or http://www.twinturbo.net/ttnetfaq/FAQpages/ECUdiagnostics.html
  10. Its fairly straight forward. You maystruggle with the 2 or 3 of the top bellhousing bolts , one solution to that is to lower the subframe a little and undo the rear gearbox bracket bolts first which gives you enough room to get a row of extensions to reach from the back of the gearbox to the front to undo them.
  11. That will be a non-oem knock sensor then, as even from America they are $160 + shipping + Duty. Unfortunately its a big job to fit. The knock sensor is located between/undeneath the two heads at the back of the engine. You will need to remove the Upper plenum, and lower plenum to get to it. Most people bypass the knock sensor instead with a 1 megohm resistor.
  12. not really I just got pic from here lol - http://www.imcdb.org/vehicles_make-Nissan_model-300ZX.html (3 pages of screengrabs of most films a zed has been in (lot of z31's though)
  13. Watched Grosse Pointe Blank last night, did'nt spot the Zed though :(
  14. was it black wheels with a red outline ? If so, I seen that car in cornwall twice before......once in 2004 and once last year !
  15. From memory Nissan quote - 1580 kg for the 2+2 TT 1530 kg for the SWB TT NA's are approx 80kg lighter. Slicktop is around 30kg lighter than targa It will vary -/+ about 20kg for Auto/Manual, UK/JAP, year and optional extras.
  16. EBC's are much cheaper than they used to be. Something popular like a Profec B Spec II is available for around £150. Most are under £200 now. Probbably get a 2nd hand one for around £100. Are you running 1 bar with stock ECU currently ?
  17. Crap advert does'nt help and from a seller with just low feedback, and its not a desirable colour. But whats even more depressing is that Its far from the cheapest TT I've seen sold/bought with no faults advertised. :( and as for NA's....can quite easily pick them up all day long for under £1k. :headvswal: Unfortunatly anyone spending this sort of money is going to quickly find themselve with repair bills much higher than the purchase price, and cheap tatty zed's drive nothing like good examples - Night and day difference- everything from ride, handling, performance, noise ...etc I've driven many a Zed that would put me off them for life if I did'nt know what good ones are like. although, the car in the above advert could be a nice example thats been a victim of current price crashes. Trouble is people see the price the crap goes for and figure thats a typical price for them and wont pay more.
  18. are you sure your performance problems were down to Sky ? They use the same BT lines and the same BT exchange as everyone else.
  19. Mine is relocated there (by previous owner of my engine), but I bypassed it anyway ! Personally not a fan of relocation, but if you do it then you have to bear in mind - 1. The sensor is not going to be able to hear detonation in that location as well as it can in the stock location......if at all ..and could even falsely detect detonation when its not there. 2. Many aftermarket ECU's dont even have safety maps anyway 3. ECU cant put the car into safety boost if you have a Electronic boost controller 4. Even in the stock loctation it can only sense detonation below 3500rpm 5. Its still going to cost you £150 to buy the new knock sensor and loom.
  20. Excellent video, nice one mike. Was good to watch. Zed was 3rd most powerfull out of the 4 - but really all the cars were close enough in power, so rather expectantly the 2 lightest cars finished first, but its not really comparable without using the same driver.
  21. Nice Shine, is that a different red to standard ? who's supplying the diffuser ?
  22. Nice work John, always love seeing your updates. Congrats on the baby too !!
