nitrous on tt zed good or bad???
You certainly dont need NOS then. Spend money on making the car handle and stop better and it will be much faster than it would be with Nos.

Power Door Locks
Yep, what Jimmer says. If locking the drivers door from inside, also locks the passenger door then the central locking system is fine and the fault is to do with your Aftermarket Alarm. There will be an aftermarket door motor fitted that clamps to the standard central locking bars and is activated by the alarm. Take the door card of, and check the motor, its probbaly come loose where it clamps to the metal bar.

Gearbox
Sorry, yes your right. I was thinkng they were externally identical as they are both type R30a internals, but having checked its only the Internals that are the same. The shifter linkage and the bellhousing differs, unsure about the input and output splines.

Weight Loss versus BHP increases
That guide is ok as a general guide, but bear in mind a lot of it is innaccurate and/or guesswork. Its about 5 years old and was originally posted on tt.net. If your going to load it up with ICE and you dont want to lose aircon or hicas or replace the seats, then at best you can hope for is to try and compensate for the some of the extra ICE weight rather than reduce weight for increasing performance. AIV and EGR are both to do with emissions, but are not needed to meet emission regulations.

Gearbox
I dont know dimensions but If its a R33 GTST (RB25) gearbox then its exact same box as in the 300zx. Thats for the GTR box ? The immediate problem I see there is that the bellhousings are not removable on the Manual gearbox, they are one piece.

Weight Loss versus BHP increases
..as mentioned weight loss really comes into play with Handling and braking which Power does not. You can work on BHP per Tonne, but even in terms of just straight line performance you can't really calculate weight loss vs Power increase because as you increase speed then weight becomes less significant and power becomes more.. They have different affects. At low to mid-range acceleration then weight plays an important part, whereas at high speed and top speed, power is more important. Be careful with weight loss though, you need to take into account weight distribution.

INFINITI launch in Ireland in 2009
Its About time. Toyota launched Lexus here ages ago and its taken Nissan long enough to decide to bring Infiniti here. I heard that a lot of europe have started getting Infiniti already this year, so I guess it will be here soon.

Stepping down as REO..
As far as I know most of the Devon members are in the North, near the somerset border anyway so shouldn't be an issue. Bearing in mind the region used to be Gloucester, Wiltshire, Somerset, Dorset, Devon & Cornwall previously. Personally I feel it may as well be changed back to South west (Gloucester, Avon, Somerset, Devon, Cornwall) with 1 section, and Dan can concentrate on Cornwall while Old_zed and Murt cover the rest but no need for seperate sections to arrange meets.

Not an owner for long
you could get it repaired for a couple of hundred. In out same day. Although you would be best taking it to a zed specialist rather than a regular garage.

Christmas meet suggestions
May as well combine Devon with AS&G now ? Your on the border anyway

What else can I do to loose weight?
Get the car on a weighbridge to find out where you are currently....even better get it corner weighed. Ditching the stock seats should be No.1 priority if your looking at weight saving. You dont have to sacrifice comfort, in fact you can quite easily find seats that are more comfortable than stock, a lot more supportive and a hell of a lot lighter. Stick to Top name brands and avoid their budget options. Try out a load to find the ones that suit you. I personally wouldn't bother with a CF bonnet, I've yet to see one that is lighter than the already incredibly light stock bonnet, and they never seem to fit correctly either. There are CF and Fibreglass hatches available....but you need to consider weight distribution. The car is front heavy as standard, and removing a whole load of weight from the rear just makes that worse. It does have the benefit of improving the Centre or gravity though by removing weight from highest point of the car. You could keep the spare wheel and tools to help counter the weight loss. Z1 can supply the Hatches and T-tops in FRP or CF from Escort Racing. Powertrix racing can supply a hatch also, and there is a Ebay.com supplier too. You could move your battery to the boot, and replace it for a Lightweight drycell battery. Most batterys tend to be 16-20kg, whereas a Drycell battery is about 6kg Im 170kg lighter than stock.........which is over 250kg lighter than the average Zed (about the same as 3 Big blokes)

New Member Intro - South West Based
UK cars are much rarer anyway, only about 20% are UK models, and less and less all the time as more get broken for parts becuase of body rot. At this age, mileage is less important than service history. There are Zed's with over 200k out there (prob not on original turbos though). Many have had the tubs replaced at some point, Glenn is selling a decent example in the Cars for sale section, which has had a lot of money spent on it.

My motorbike has been nicked
sh*t, sorry to hear Lee :( Hope you can track down a number plate from the cameras

Most UK cars tend to be on the other side of 100k miles, which is still low mileage considering the age and nothing to be concerned about, but something to bear in mind if you were hoping for much less mileage.

could a leaky balance bar cause poor boost??
Yes, a leaking balance bar would be a boost/vacumn leak...but the stock gauge is in mmhg x 100 , and going to 6 is about 12psi (stock is 9.5psi) but saying that, they are famously innaccurate.

light whisper of blue smoke???
Blue smoke = Oil burning. In order of cost to fix, the most likely culprits are : PCV Valves Valve stem seals Turbo seals Your best bet would be to have the PCV valves replaced and fingers crossed thats cured it.
