  1. omg, u guys are kidding right ?!?! All the Electric drivers seats (Jap and UK) are 8 way electric adjustment. Both switches go up, down, left, right. You can adjust seat height and seat tilt(which also helps with the height).
  2. Brilliant ! Love his stuff, blows me away. Anyone see the one where he slowed his heartbeat till the nurse was unable to detect it, then did the broken glass stuff.
  3. Happy Birthday John :duffer:
  4. Jack her up and give each wheel a good shake in all directions while somebody checks for play in the buhings. The rear shocks are most likely shot though, common issue. Owners dont tend to realise that a 15yr old zed went past its shocks lifespan a loooong time ago! They are about £50 each for the Rears, but since the springs will be worn and saggy too its often best to replace the entire lot, and most go for something aftermarket such as KYB AGX with Eibach springs. Hicas joints as mentioned is a nother common issue. Pushing down on each corner to check the suspension does'nt really work on Z The Suspension is too stiff and the car too heavy to have much affect - Ofcourse if it does go up and down easily then they are definatly ****ed. You should also get the alignment checked, but worth waiting till you have replaced worn parts first.
  5. Your brother has a US spec in the UK ? Thats unique. LHD..etc ?
  6. I've noticed this too..on some cars the seats go lower than on others, its not a UK vs Jap difference though, as I have noticed the difference between different Jap Series 1 cars..... Im certain the seats themselves on all versions are identical in terms of structure/mechanism, not noticed any difference in all the sets I've removed/refitted (except for material differences, adjustable lumbar and the non-electric versions), but have no explanation :-S
  7. officially 280hp, but actually about 320hp. 4.5i V8. Not too hard to put that closer to 400, and Johns build could potentially see 500+ in NA form. There are Turbocharged and supercharged versions out there seeing anything from 600+ (on stock internals!), and heard of a 1200hp example being used.

  9. ^^ Spot on. It feels tighter and more responsive to your inputs. The LWB feels lazy when stepping out of one and into another. I also dont get the creaks and rattles that LWB's suffer with, maybe becuase I have rebuilt the car, but most likely becuase the chassis does'nt flex so much. The downside is that you cant fit any children or dwarfs in the back (although I have had somebody in the boot, but thats a whole different story) and you have to be quicker to react to oversteer...it responds quicker....which means you need to as well.
  10. ^^^ What Pete said. Those just are'nt going to work with harnesses. Dont start cutting the seat up, you will affect its structural strength. You really would be better off investing in some better seats. Look for ones that are FIA approved, to ensure they meet safety standards.
  11. Yeh, only reason to buy it is for the engine. I'd snap it up if I could spare the funds for it..but then the engine would just end up sitting here till I could start rebuilding it.
  12. Nice one Murt, congrats mate :D
  13. If its anything like the regular Hilux (and I expect its worse than a regular hilux) then its very utilitarian ....a lot like an old Transit to drive, and nothing like modern 4x4's.
  14. yeh, lots of these threads this time of the year. Carefull out there people
  15. Dakota custom dash I believe.
  16. That link is very old. First published 2002, updated in 2005.
  17. Welcome. LSD was standard on all versions.
  18. Cheap Chinese knockoffs that will fall apart when they see boost.
  19. Personally I prefer it without the 3rd brake light.
  20. There was that documentary on a few months back about Sandwiches, and Subway came out worst. Salt content If I remember correctly was by far the worst for them.
  21. Are you sure it stock? you would'nt really be able to tell by looking at most springs to see if they are lowereing springs or not. Any more pics of the car from side profile ?
