far as grit I just rinsed it fully then blasted it with compressed air. :)

Mine was a series 4 and I didn't see any plastic parts that could melt. There is a thin grate on the inside but that was made out of metal. The only bits I can think that could melt would be the gasket sealer on the pipes but the paint seals that fast.

Powder coated mine and never had any issues
