  1. Ever since my spray job my drivers doors not shutting properly and it needs adjusted. Never done this so is it easy enough ? Is it just a matter of slackening the three bolts and holding the door higher then tightening ? Only issue I foresee is that the wing can't come off as I have skirts going over the top of them.
  2. Hey, Fitting my proper cruise stalk with the steering cowl from the airbag model of steering wheel but the cowl is longer. The cowl from the series 4 airbag model has the proper cutouts but when trying to fit an older wheel the plastic obstructs the wheel fitting properly. Seems Nissan changed the cowl between steering wheel models so my 3 spoke wheel rubs off the cowl now. Just wondering if you have the older type and just dremel'd a hole out as I think that's the only way to make them both fit ?
  3. So today while changing the engine oil I also noticed this : Not so good, the loom to the gearbox rubbed off the exhaust and melted the outer cover. This may explain my reverse light issues but after connecting the cables in the engine bay they still didn't come on. Is there a fuse for the reverse lights ?
  4. I do plan to change the wheels but those tyres are brand new and have less than 50 miles on them. It will be mid next year and I may upgrade to a big brake set and change the wheels.
  5. Smooth running engine with no more tappet noises but there is a high pitched noise from what I think is the belts but can't point it out. Here's a small video of the engine running : [video=youtube_share;5GSWDFGtJSU] My brother suggested it could be a bearing in one of the pulleys !
  6. So back on track I had a day off today so managed to get some time in on the zed. Fitted my new 99 spec spoiler that I told everyone I had yet somehow know one seemed to believed, lol. Fixed my oil leak which turned out to be no more than me fitting the sandwich plate the wrong way. As the engine had fresh oil in it I drained the full lot into a brand new oil pan then after I fixed the issue we strained the oil back to a oil can and filled her up again. And lastly after a visit from Stewart Gunner he made a suggestion and we solved the erratic idle issue. Turned out the cruise control cable was too tight and was pulling on the throttle so soon as we slackened that the idle dropped to below 600 and then stalled. So I upped the idle using the valve so it was fairly high and then slacked the cables one more. The engine now runs smoothly and idles at about 800. Many thanks Stewart as the idle has messed with me for over a week now.
  7. money that I just don't have. i'm barely skimping on at the moment and have taken out some short term loans to get this project complete. Suggestions all good and well but as it stands its not financially viable.
  8. Enough with the comments on the wheels ! For the moment they are staying more so for the element of having no cash left. And as much as everyone hates them I haven't got any issues with them for now.
  9. Reminds me of Rev I.AM.JOLLY [video=youtube_share;Fuw6lYVAlaI]
  10. Never noticed that was your first post :) Welcome to the club !
  11. Does the needle move freely ? I done something similar while I removed all my needles and the only way to get it back on and to be more or less accurate is to have a full tank of petrol. With a full tank and the clocks dismantled partially; remove the needle and start the engine. Leave it for about a minute so that the spindle rotates to it resting position then slowly push the needle on. To test it turn ignition off and slightly push need lower than it should then start ignition. The needle if working should raise back up to the full level. :)
  12. Interesting, anyone know what parts exactly to order ?
  13. Calm down, calm down ! I have a 99 spec spoiler which is sprayed in the same purple as the rest of the zed. It will be fitted shortly and my intentions were to always fit it. :)
  14. I've got a 99 spec spoiler sitting at home ready to be installed!
  15. Great on not needing them for an mot although still would like them to work. just need to do a few tests next time i'm at the garage.
  16. Not been at the garage today so I decided after work to pressure wash all the wheel mud guards.
  17. follow this guide : http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?44310-How-To-Fit-A-Bonnet-Gas-Strut!
  18. i'm sure we all would if we had one big enough. at the moment I have a council rented garage I can barely get the zed into. And yesterday I drove it in for the first time and that scared me a bit.
  19. actually got a set to fit from two years ago but never liked the idea of trying to fit it myself.
  20. Staying up north has its challenges at time with the bad weather. But as a lesson learned when working on the engine I now strap the bonnet down with a bungee cord. How many folks have been caught out and the wind caught the bonnet and slammed it down ? Three years ago mine did exactly that and I knocked a chunk out my wing and bonnet as the bonnet holder happened to fall outwards when the bonnet slammed. But a bungee cord in the right place will stop that from ever happening now :)
  21. On the task above of fixing the reverse lights I can't seem to get continuity using my meter when the gearbox is in reverse. As its a brand new loom I can only think that its a faulty switch on the gear box itself. One more test I plan to do is try to manually trigger the lights by connecting the circuit at the plug.
