Bonnet open and really windy !
i'm sure we all would if we had one big enough. at the moment I have a council rented garage I can barely get the zed into. And yesterday I drove it in for the first time and that scared me a bit.

actually got a set to fit from two years ago but never liked the idea of trying to fit it myself.

Bonnet open and really windy !
Staying up north has its challenges at time with the bad weather. But as a lesson learned when working on the engine I now strap the bonnet down with a bungee cord. How many folks have been caught out and the wind caught the bonnet and slammed it down ? Three years ago mine did exactly that and I knocked a chunk out my wing and bonnet as the bonnet holder happened to fall outwards when the bonnet slammed. But a bungee cord in the right place will stop that from ever happening now :)

On the task above of fixing the reverse lights I can't seem to get continuity using my meter when the gearbox is in reverse. As its a brand new loom I can only think that its a faulty switch on the gear box itself. One more test I plan to do is try to manually trigger the lights by connecting the circuit at the plug.

Still awaiting new pipes from concept in the states and a local supplier is getting me braided hoses. I'll start to remove all the brakes next weekend as I've still got a few coats to do then I can fit them.

after a second attempt to bleed the clutch I now can move her without the need for a ratchet harness which is great. other smaller things we done with help from my wife was fit the rear registration lights and registration plate. This involved the rear bumper being fully removed again as I bought a new harness and new bracket. But it was worth it as it looks great and no way was it to fail the mot on this as its did 3 years ago.

Tiz was a smashing day for working on the zed today as its was the hottest day of the week for sure. Fixed most of the engine issues by installing a new air idle valve gasket but my idle is still way to high and when trying to turn the valve back all the way its till sitting at near 1300 - 1500 at idle. I think the air idle valve must be busted or something. Cylinder Power test using conzult now shows a better performance although it seems a bit lower than my first bad test on each cylinder all round. Apart from the idle the engine is running much more smoothly and has only a slight top end tick but that too is getting better as shes been run over the last few days. Also wired up the headlights and installed the new HID's.

If was idling near 1500, but its not been touched since I fixed the cylinder issue. I likely just need to adjust the base idle to bring it down and allow the ecu to control it. Also the loom is brand new and just fitted and the cables on two and three are very close matching so easy mistake. It was actually my brother who spotted it was opposite cylinders and thought that was coincidence and best check it out.

So this is what she currently sounds like; as said she now has a constant rev every few seconds. Starting to sound awesome :) [video=youtube_share;dmAM-UWNH94]

ok, As it was opposite side that had issues I double checked the harness for the coil packs and they were reversed - oops. Now is starts better and sounds smoother but its doing what I would call revving up by itself !

so just swapped coil pack 1 with 3 and then done a balance test again and the same result. if I put a volt meter to the coil pack unplugged will that tell me if that cable works ?

ok back to my engine issues. Started her up again with conzult and shes holding her temp this time at 78/79 which is great. But doing a power test it looks like I'm down on cylinders 2 and 3. I think this is a spark plug or cabling issue as removing the coil pack plug makes no change to the running noise.- JAE 10th -13th September 2015
My ticket has now been booked !!! :) just hope I have no issues getting the zed there.- JaiKai - Full rebuild & Respray

Not a bad job for my first attempt. I think I need to get a softer brush as you can see some of the brush marks but think a second coat will hide them.- JaiKai - Full rebuild & Respray
Yeh, It's designed for calipers but takes a few coats.- JaiKai - Full rebuild & Respray
Back to the callipers and first coat of paint on the front its on. The paint is fairly thin so i'm guessing a few coats then a top clear coat.- JaiKai - Full rebuild & Respray
Going to be upgrading my electrical system for all my gauges and aftermarket bits so got myself a new split load fuse box and plan to install it this weekend. This should take care of my extra gauges, stereo and a few other bits pieces.- Happy Birthday Groover
