  1. yes it would but just haven't touched it yet :) This was just a test fit so plan to do some more work on them before the weekend.
  2. Its clearly 1/2 the size near enough. But in my case its handy as my sandwich plate adds an inch to the overall size.
  3. On a final not after I drained the oil tonight I decided to refill it with fresh semi synthetic 10w40. The old that came out was fully synth at 10w45 and it was very dark for being in the engine for only a month with minimum running time. I'm guessing as the engine has been sitting for a year all the crap got cleaned out with the first stuff.
  4. Last job of the night was a test fit of the callipers I painted.
  5. Next issue was the blow back correctly diagnosed by groover. I started her up again then had a look underneath for any tell tale signs and I found it : This is the joint of the centre section of the exhaust and hard to see but they have a gap in the gasket. They are fairly tight and even if I forced them closed further I might end up stripping the bolts. I was thinking that if I hack saw off the link in the middle should that free them up for a better connection ? I also noticed that there was a fair amount of water dripping out of here too. You can see the water in this pic and also the large gap between the joins.
  6. Now that my zed is home for some tender care I thought i'd put her up on some axle stands to fix some of the issues I've had. First was the oil filter which was replaced with a new HKS. Then I tackled the issue of the damaged loom cable going to the gear box. So I stripped the melted loom down to discover that none of the internal cables were actually exposed. Bugger so something else is blowing the fuse and I now have another problem on my hands. taped the whole thing back up and pushed it away from the down pipes which melted it in the first place.
  7. So here is a few pics of the new HKS oil filter vs the old larger style.
  8. ok, So Stewart just sent me this video of his zed that squeals. A local mechanic suspects it could be a cam pulley, what everyones thoughts. And mind that we need to get this to JAE, how easy is a cam belt pulley to fix and costs for the parts ? [video=youtube_share;d5QTXhkyFms]
  9. Some crackin looking zeds on this thread :) Keep them coming.
  10. Gaz i saw your thread that you used to have one of these from a few years ago. Do you min it being this small ?
  11. Yeh, I told Stewart that so hopefully he can do it himself, i'm not the kind of guy to play with another mans nipples. :)
  12. Yeh, This one seems tiny. i'm sure its the same thread but don't want to try it just yet, I've emailed the company I bought it from.
  13. Just bought a new HKS oil filter and it arrived today but it looks tiny to me ! Sure the thread size is ok but its only 60mm compared to the 75mm of a normal one. Here's its pictured next to a coke can for scale.
  14. Its ok now, I sold my old discs to stewart and his discs were thinner, but turns out he had old discs with new calipers. Explains why his brakes were pish. Just needs a piston pusher for the calipers to get them back in to allow the discs to be put on.
  15. Can you directly transplant the rotors from a TT to an NA ? Both zeds use aluminium callipers but the TT disc seems to be thicker.
  16. Also heard he has signed of for a sequal to world war z
  17. Sounds a lot louder than lifters. I had noisy lifters prior to the rebuild and this is a lot louder.
  18. Should I be worried about that top end knocking ? As I am and without an explanation I don't really want to drive it to the MOT station never mind JAE.
  19. Hopefully this is just a loose bolt as everything is brand new.
  20. My wife recorded this small video which lets you hear the engine, can you also hear the scoosh after I take the foot off the accelerator ? Is this a boost leak ? [video=youtube_share;bkOn4eTOecs]
  21. about £200 all in with a new boss
  22. Offloading the zed into my driveway.
  23. However with good news always comes bad :( When I was revving the engine to get it on the trailer and keep it out the bite point, having no brakes n all. I could hear a top end knocking which I haven't heard before. What does everybody think of this ? [video=youtube_share;NJxJIIbySYU]
