  1. After I drained all the oil from the box I removed the inner bell housing cover and found the issue that was giving me the leak - a home made gasket ! Although it looks fairly real I believe its just been stencilled out of another one. More engine degreasing I carefully cleaned up the inside of the bell housing and fitted the new gasket I also replaced both oil seals and also the pivot ball and springs. Box back up right I also removed the old rubber oil lines which I intend to just block up now.
  2. Working on the gearbox today and I've managed to give it a good cleanup. I started of with giving the full thing a rinse down with a high pressure hose then I went onto degrease the full thing with engine degreaser. A few rinses later and a good scrub managed to clear 80% of the old crud that was sticking to the box. Also made up a make shift stance with some wood and two scissor jacks
  3. Fitting my gearbox back in this weekend, everyone's more than welcome to give a hand.
  4. and UPS got me with about £20 import tax as it arrived.

  6. both oil seals, gasket in the bell housing, Pivot Ball, springs and the two sensors. Also bought new sump plugs before i destroy the ones i have as they are a bit rounded.
  7. Now that all my components of the gearbox have arrived. Anyone got recommendations on what oil to use ?
  8. Few parts arrived today from concept. Mostly parts to refurbish my gearbox a bit but I'm loving my smooth new fan. Soon to be sprayed purple.
  9. Looks like a very good diy job. Could be a part off another car as it looks moulded.
  10. Check the 10amp fuse for cruise as it shares a fuse with reverse.

  14. No idea to be honest. Whatever is making the banging noise on high revs i guess.
  15. Looking for a low millage Crank Pulley !

  17. ok, So need to find a new or excellent condition oem crank pulley.
  18. So my engine noise is more or less the crank pulley slipping so needs changed. What does everyone recomend ? Stick with the oem and get a new crank damper pulley or get an alluminum pulley from the likes of japseed http://www.japspeed.co.uk/nissan-300zx-lightweight-aluminium-crank-pulley.html I'd prefer not to hear any excess noise and also avoid having to buy new belts too.

  20. Going to replace all the seals while I have the box out. I'm guessing I have to drain the box of fluid before unbolting the back end ? What's the best way to drain it when its off the zed, and will giving the whole thing a power wash do it any harm ?
  21. Also had a good look inside the end of the bell housing and there is an excess of oil in there. So maybe its a good time to replace all the oil seals and gaskets.
  22. Drilling a hole though it did the trick; and a little bit of heat from a burner. I then inserted a screw driver extension and gave it a hit with a mallet.
  23. Had too unfortunately as one of them is broke and wont come off. I'll likely need to take a drill to it and try push a small bar through it to spin it off.
  24. This is a pic of the full of my gearbox and as you can see its a UK box. Its had the oil pipes bypassed but I wanted to get rid of them completely, so can I just find two bolts and plug up the holes ?
