  1. lmfao, dunno why but this post made me cry with laughter..... chili beef + PSP + new lav = 4 hours in the loo!
  2. The guy who was kindly going to lend me a engine crane, now cant do it due to buggering the hydraulics up on it, so im now in need of a crane to hoist this damn engine out of the car and put the new engine in. Is there anyone near Wellingborough in Northampton that could kindly lend me one for a day, just to do a engine swap. I would rent one but by the time I've done that i may as well of bought the damn thing, but as much as id love my own, i need the rest of me cash just in case i need to get anything mid swap that i haven't thought of yet. Any help in this matter would be much appreciated.
  3. Doh! brain fart lol, waste i meant.
  4. though i have 3/4 of a tank and cant drive it to waist it :)
  5. Simple, TT = extra cost when it goes wrong, N/A = a lot cheaper when it goes wrong (turbos :P) Though it would seriously depend on what your maintenance regime is going to be like, It seems that life expectancy on 300zx parts doesnt seem to be that long (60kms (37k miles) service / 120kms (75k miles) service parts) from what i can tell, and from what I've read on here, someone always has a problem with the turbo at some point and costs can get quite high. OK you could argue that its a 20 year old car and that its not your normal everyday mass produced mondeo, but you would also expect considering its a sports car / gran tourer, that parts should of been built to last a little bit longer than most have managed, especially with the low mileage that most of these cars tend to be advertised with, but that's just my view and im sure there will be plenty of people who disagree with some points. But don't let that stop you, you get good and bad cars regardless of what manufacturer you get one from or even what car you buy and they really do stand the test of time well, with looks, performance, after market items. Would be interesting to see posts though on what mileage people get from a full tank of fuel.
  6. When emptying my knackered engine, i have the same kinda thing from the rad, washed the rad through and it looks like rust once the water starts clearing, i also have what looks like rust on the old water inlet outlet pipes leading to the engine. Cept, the coolant mix coming out the bottom of the rad when first emptying was a nice fluorescent green color (looked like predator blood to start with lol) then turned a nice rusty/chocolate brown)
  7. Another update. Just got back from grabbing me replacement engine, so a big thank you to CSAAB for that one, lovely condition look wise lol, lot more cleaner than my old one, just need to clean it up sort it out with some new parts and drop it in :D
  8. HTC touch HD, one of the best phones I've ever owned, and if you want to upgrade it or put 3rd party software on, your not tied down to a store that you have to pay for everything on. awesome bit of kit, comes with proper blue tooth, mms, GPS receiver (put tomtom 7 on and your set for go with sat nav) yes its a windows based mobile, but im yet to have a problem with it. and i upgraded it to windows 6.5 MP3 player, MWV player, and a number of 3rd party apps (free i might add) that you can use to do pretty much just about anything with. definitely a serious contender to the Iphone, and having played with my mates iPhone, i have to say i prefer the HTC touch HD over it. Don't get me wrong i like the Iphones interface, its smart and sleek, i just don't like being told what i can and cant do with my own phone, and apple do that quite often. I like the drag and drop functionality of the HTC touch HD and the 3rd party simplicity over the app-store heavy iPhone.
  9. lol you posted that as i posted in your part of the forum, id be interested in a price matey. but yeah seriously considering it if the price is right Edit, don't worry about the redirect, i know you own smithy's now, just didn't have what i was looking for on there, well part from the braided fuel hoses, do the fuel hoses connect to the fuel filter, had to butcher one of mine getting off for the engine swap, so need to replace it, was hoping to do it with something with a little more substance to it.
  10. thought the harness was the complete kit that goes around the engine to the injectors an coil packs and ends up at the ecu through the fire wall, hoping to replace this once the engine is out. EDIT: DTA just transfers me to smithy's place that doesn't seem to list them
  11. is there anywhere in this country that sells EFI harnesses? been google-ing for around half hour now and can only fine US shops selling them.
  12. Well, quick update, car is now off the ground completely, managed to jack it up enough to put it on ramps at the front to give me more clearance, and Axel stands at the rear, exhaust is now off, and prop shaft removed, engine fan and fan clutch is off and wiring harness is coming off slowly, god its a spaghetti junction on these things. surely there's and easier way lol. most of the small auxiliary pipes are off as well.
  13. Yeah I've seen and been to that page, but needed something a little bit more portable for my engine out work tomorrow, also as i said, the owners manual isn't in there. Hmm, after checking the owners manual, seems to be for the 350z and not the 300zx. strange how the website owner didn't realise this, still this is handy for anyone who wants to download the entire thing for offline usage.
  14. I didn't see the owners manual in the FAQ, but its on that website, i didn't get one with my car.
  15. Save your self some pennies, a link to a website offering FREE manual downloads for the fair lady Z (JDM, will be useful for the U.K spec and USA spec as well id imagine) http://www.importworkshop.com/nissan-fairlady-z.html **@MODS** If this is inappropriate please delete and i apologise now
  16. This is just engine removal baz, engine fitting comes on Wednesday
  17. ill be getting lots of pictures, not sure how well this is going to go due to doing it on my own, well part from the misses coming out and feeding me coffee lol
  18. Right tomorrow is Tuesday, and im going to be finishing off prep work for engine removal, I've been over and over and over posts of engine removal on the z32, but im still a bit concerned about certain aspects like prop shaft removal at the gear box, nothing seems to go too much into detail, im also a bit worried about if i can get the room under car to bring the gearbox and engine out at an angle.... ooh well wish me luck, want this sorted out tomorrow ready for my new engine on Wednesday. The plan for tomorrow - Jack car at the front and put on ramps - Jack car at rear and put on Axel stands - Removal of all pipe work including electrical wiring from there relevant connectors on the engine to the engine bay - Removal of Prop shaft - Engine with gear box removal - Anything else i run into
  19. Zcenter sell some engine bay panels to cover up different colors, but saying that, by the time you have removed everything to fit them once they are sprayed you may as well just spray the real ones lol
  20. yep really am liking that tinted tail light look, makes the rear look so much wider
  21. well the chrome was spray on, i think just for the photo, because they sure as hell don't look that shiny now lol, Being up on the isle of Uist sure has taken its toll on the old girl, and has accelerated the rusting process, i really need to get this engine changed ASAP, and get to work getting all the residual salt of her with a good steam wash underneath, and then i need to check the thickness of the panels where the rust is to see if i can salvage it or whether shes going to need some welding work done, then under seal like mad, horn still doesn't work and its missing the one on the drivers side. thanks for the post she looked lovely when you owned her. And them alloy wheels really do look nice. cant say i noticed play in the prop shaft, though didn't take her above 60 for the 18miles that i drove her. im thinking about Jade-R's before everyone jumps on them, but i cant seem to find the black ones for the 300zx (just to be different :D), im fine with the N/A, less to go wrong and a little bit less expensive (turbos), also need to get some spacers as the OEM wheels on the fronts sink well into the arches.
  22. Has anyone bought the OEM Clutch kit from Z center, and if so is it any good? im thinking of doing the clutch while the engine is out ready for the new one, might as well get as much done as possible, also will these break pads fit my ride? Its a 1991 jap import N/A, i know the're cheap, but i just need something to pass me buy till the beginning of next year.
  23. So who cut the hole in the dash to fit a speaker and the hole in the rear internal panel behind the passenger seat? Its not in the best of conditions tbh, this is the person i bought it off, and if i had seen this post before id purchased it, i would of looked the other way. http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=107907 Don't get me wrong, it sounded amazing before the engine blew, the exhaust is still on it, with decat middle pipes (got told by the last owner that he put the middle stainless decat pipes on) By the looks of that, the person you sold it to put a new cam belt on it? in just 5 days? not sure whether to believe that tbh, but then that doesn't really matter now anyway. Did you sell it with the wheels on? ill get some pictures of what she looks like at the moment, interior wise, shes going to need a lot of work. She has a large rust spot on the drivers door that needs sorting out, the pods are loose, with the front demister button fallen off, hole in the dash board in line with the center console for a 8" speaker, hole has been cut out for a 6-9 speaker in the rear passenger side panel, the spoiler has flaked so much around the edge that its just filling up with water and dumping it in the boot. the front bumper needs replacing due to being cracked at the bottom on the drivers side just below the front fog light, the main beam on the drivers side doesn't work properly, drivers side window motor has some teeth stripped, the passenger side wing mirror doesn't fold in properly (possibile teeth stripped on that too) The rear screen demister doesn't work, the heating doesn't work, the clock doesn't work, the boot doesn't unlock with the key. Its also showing signs of age to the rear tail light cluster, and there is some strange button on the dash just near the cruses control pod that has a tiny little red LED on it, (though i think this is the button for the rear fog light) Its got lots of rust on the underside that i need to sort out and then under seal, i think most of this was from the last owner though, his listing wasn't the best description in the world. Anyway your more than welcome to come down and have a look at her as she is, but i warn you, it might make you upset. (depends how much you loved her)
  24. Yes its posted on the GTR.co.uk forum found here R.I.P big man. condolences to family friends, and all others involved, and to the nameless woman as well.
