Im pretty sure it should be the blue one on the back of the head unit, remote wire used for aerials and power signal to amp's etc... could be completly wrong though! :D (thats if you have a standard wiring loom)
  15. how heavy is your boot? depends what size feet you have doesnt it? sorry.... :D
  16. been doing research on twinturbo.net, doesnt look good, possibly need a new crank shaft :( probably cheaper to slap a 2nd hand engine in there....
  17. the waterpump/fan wobble was me being a numbnuts, one of the bolts on the waterpump pulley was not on properly!! there is a big bolt to hold the pulley on with but it just undoes it self without the woodruff key?!!?! maybe im missing something here? I wasnt sure the pulley took part in the engine timing, it just drives the anicillary bits and bobs (water pump, PAS etc)...
  18. Bit of a long story this one... Was driving along and had a major overheating problem along with the battery light coming on, figured it was a nackered water pump and possibly thrown the alternator/waterpump belt. Replaced the pump and all the belts but when I was doing this I noticed that I was missing the woodruff key on the crank/underdrive pulley and the the pulley had come loose. There was also a chunk taken out of the crank at the side of the slot where they key fits in. I put everything back together as it should be and it all seemed fine, for about five minutes :( exactly the same problem again, the pulley had broken loose from the crank. :headvswal havent taken the belts+pulley off again yet, going to have the AA take it up to z tech so ryan can have a gander but was wondering if anybody else had ever seen this before? Im guessing the chip in the crank is causing the woodruff to come loose, seems a bit of a weak way to secure the pulley but im sure there's a good reason for it.. if this is the cause any idea if a new slot can be cut into the crank while its in place, dont think I can afford engine out antics (or replacing the crank shaft) at the moment :( Cheers Dave
  19. ignore me i was being a tit, one of the bolts on the pulley wasnt tight enough...
  20. Ok, i've pretty much finished putting all the bits and bobs back on my car now, new water pump seems to work fine, but a bit of a prob with the fan.. at revs more than about 1500-2000 the fan seems to wobble, under a spot light its clearly visible, the blades seem to flex and then rub on the alternator belt!!! not good! any ideas? I have made sure all the bolts on the fan clutch and the waterpump pulley are nice and tight, but still no joy, im stuck!! Thanks in advance Dave
  21. my car already has a nice big auto oil cooler installed, but the hoses that connected to the original cooler in the end tank are still there, one big long hose looped round to both connectors on the rad, can I chuck this away? or does it need to stay connected like this? Cheers Dave
  22. I thought the VX220 was a tarted up lotus, probably wrong though....
  23. Trend micro (PC Cillin is the home user version) the corporate stuff is great and catches loads of stuff that Norton used to miss. Just started using it at home. The only drawback is that there is a yearly subscription to pay.
  24. to quote a man who knows, "you're robbing peter to pay paul" you save some BHP at the crank by removing the big heavy mechanical fan but then the load on the alternator will be that much higher to run a stonking great electric fan or two that will be needed to keep evertyhing cool.
