thats shocking. surely its an april fools joke? :nelson: cant believe they could do that....
  2. hold is also bloody good if you're low on the old motion lotion. economy (for me anyway) seems a lot better with hold turned on.
  3. when you boot it the the gearbox switches into "power" mode (sports mode on every other auto I have driven! :D ), basically will take the car pretty much to redline revs before changing up gear. if you have a jap car you can turn this on manually via the power/hold switch beside the gear shift.
  4. interesting stuff! :D so whats the solution to the water bottles? relocate them somewhere else?
  5. I dont know that you're going to hear too many positive things about the 3000gt/gto on this forum :) but IMHO they are very nice cars, particularly the later models without the horrible popup lights, 6-speed box and 320Bhp as standard. The handling is also pretty sharp, permanent 4wd and traction control mean you can hammer it round corners without fear of loosing the back end (if driving aids like that is your thing, some hate them) If arse out drifting antics is your thing (possibly not coming from a FWD car) the zed is the way to go. There is however the issue of styling, the mitsubishi as far as im concerned is a bit OTT and the zed is a much more attractive car. As far as reliability goes you wont find much between them, both are very complex beasts and require good maintenance to keep them in decent shape (you probably found this with your Fiat though) Long term maintenance may be a little easier with the mitsubishi, for example the turbos are easily accessible compared to the zed (not an engine out job) With the farily modest set of mods you're talking about there shouldnt be a huge performance difference between the two cars either, the 3000 is a little heavier than the zed but has better traction. both should give you 0-60's well below 6 seconds. BHPs is always a guess unless you get it on a rolling road, so many variables to consider it boggles the mind! Very rough guesses for BHP at the crank would be mid 300's for both cars with exhaust, filter, boost and ECU mods. in conlusion, both great cars but nobody on here will tell you to buy anything except a zed! :) (except maybe one or two supra converts..... :) ) So have a look in the for sale section and buy one of the members cars that are for sale! :D
  6. Hello, Been thinking today about some previous threads mentioning how mesh on a lot of aftermarket bumpers really restrict the airflow over the ICs and Radiator. I've got a 99 spec front end with quite a fine mesh over ICs and Rad, noticed that on a warm day like today the temperature does tend to creep up when cruising at high speeds (100-110ish) (on my private test track!!) Am I right in saying the effect of the mesh would be worse at higher speeds? Although it wouldnt look as nice and of course I would run the risk of getting damage to the ICs or Rad from debris is it worthwhile for the cooling to remove the mesh? cheers Dave
  7. Picked my car up last night after a few days of TLC at ZTech and its better than its ever been!! Had a whole load of servicing and Ryan fixed a bunch of silly little problems I didnt even know I had!!! Along with going above and beyond the call of duty to sort out a nasty underdrive pulley that was causing some serious vibration! A-Pillar guages fitted and I cant wait for my boost jets and ECU some time in the next few weeks!! The mans a genius!
  8. where did you w*nkers get those pics of my girlfriends mum... she is gonna go ape.... :)
  9. something to do with vibration/temperature ruining the contacts in the PTU and when they cool down they make a good circuit again... If youre strapped for cash you could get a known good S1 PTU, no guarantee it wont break again but a lot cheaper (thats what I did!, cheapskate!!)
  10. sounds interesting, if you can find the diagram I'll be having a go at this, HIDs and high beam at the same time!! :) really blind some people with that setup! haha
  11. digital dash.... lovely... like knight rider. :D one of the only reasons I had an Astra GTE back "in the day" haha
  12. indeed, you wont ever catch me buying a brand new car unless I win the lottery and have money to burn! :)
  13. yup, the arse well and truely fell out of the 2nd hand car market a few years back and its been getting worse and worse ever since!!! its shocking how much depreciation you see on a 2-3 year old motor from new!! mate paid 17k for his MG (yeah its a rover so it doesnt get a lot worse) when it was new and he got quoted 3k!!!! for trade in value against an RX8!!! 14k lost in three years!!! bloody shocking.... mate who had a 3series at about the same time wont have dont a lot better either and those have pretty good residuals... we moan about the price of zeds, at least they dont continue to depreciate like that!!
  14. ok dont roast me for this one.... the .... "cough" ripspeed "couch" ones from harry halfords, fit really well and have a great spray pattern, and dont look "that" bad.... ill get back in the cupboard under the stairs now where I belong for buying ripspeed stuff...
  15. I sell some wicked firewalls and wireless security devices! club discounts! :) http://www.ansecurity.com its all geared towards corporates really, but check out these two little fellas... http://www.fortinet.com/doc/FW60DS.pdf and http://www.juniper.net/products/integrated/ns_5series.html (5GT Wireless) enable you to control the traffic from your access point with "Proper" firewalling rather than just slapping it straight onto your LAN, these little chaps run pretty much the same operating system as the stonking £50k + corporate firewalls so are damn secure...
  16. Hello mate, Not sure about the wheels but the HIDs are the dogs danglies (I have a set), have a look in the traders section on here, get greddy do them for about that price. and before anybody else tells ya, TURN YOUR CAPS LOCK OFF! ;) welcome to the forum!
  17. its great fun if you're cruising on the motorway and want to show off, flick it off, drops down to third and its rocket ship all the way to 120!! :D
  18. Thats the plan, the exception is just for the IT department! :D they cant live without thier MSN!! I think I sussed it last night I think its *.passport.net and *.messenger.hotmail.com are the domains it will talk to..... just got to test it monday! Cheers for the help...
  19. Just the domain name(s) for the server(s) will do, thanks for the help.. Prob is the proxy is using NTLM authentication sent transparently from the browser (so abuse i.e looking at boobs can be monitored by the powers that be and the users dont have to enter username password every time they go on the web) the MSN proxy settings dont forward the credentials so it automatically gets knocked back. need to set an exception to the authentication rule so the MSN stuff goes straight through the proxy.... god its too late to be working.. :(
  20. cool, i will try that then, pic of me nicely shaved and dressed ready for a night out on the town, then a pic of me, covered in blood, sick, beer, kebab and piss after crawling in at 5am.... nice! :D then again, maybe not...
  21. to the trinity fan club? :mac1: She's certainly very popular at the moment... what did I miss? :)
  22. Not even remotely close to being Zed related but I know there are a few IT geeks like me on here who probably know the answer to this off the top of thier heads... Putting in a secure web proxy solution for a customer at the moment, all going fine, got a bit of a problem with MSN messenger though, need to know exactly what servers (or just the root domain of the servers) it connects to so we can add them into a set of sites allowed without authentication... I dont know crap about messenger but Im assuming the clients all connect to a bunch of servers centrally which maintain all the free/busy data and buddy lists etc.... if im barking up the wrong tree and its a p2p type system then im fooked.. :mac1: Cheers
  23. yup cousin boning is perfectly legal, thought about it at my brothers wedding, STUNNING girl about 18-19 yrs old walks in, Who the hell is that? thinks me, turns out its my cousin (16yrs old) that I'd not seen in years, unfortunatly my brothers best man beat me to it, the git....
  24. PMSL too many good ones to choose from there.... My uncle used to have two spaniels, mickey and mouse, used to hate walking them with him, everybody thought he had escaped from a mental home walking across the common shouting mickey mouse at the top of his voice to call the dogs back.....
  25. Good old russel grunt.... my stars for this month had something along the lines of: "a hobby or project that you have invested a lot of money in will finally start to reward you" sounds like the zed is finally going to start behaving itself this month!!! :D
