  1. Looks like I'll have to trace all the pipes and find out where they go to!!! Oil system or air con!!! It's certainly not standard whatever it is!!! Cheers
  2. Cool, thanks for that, a job for the morning then!! Was a bit worried about the halfords name all over it, instantly indicates sh1t quality to me!!! :)
  3. Well I've no skin left on my hands and some wicked blood blisters but the new Black Diamond disks and pads are on all the way around. Should have seen the state of the disks I pulled off!!! warped, scored, scraped, rusty, just about everything bad!!! My buddy who helped with the job is convinced the brake system should be bled before I go anywhere as by squishing the calipers open we may have introduced air into the system. Is this right? Also I got Halford dot 5.1 brake fluid as its the best I could lay my hands on, will I regret putting that in? Cheers
  4. what do you think to A2 XFL (A ZXFL) a zx fairlady!!! its cheap and cheerful at £250!!
  5. Hi, I've attached a photo of the big ol' oil cooler, you can also see the ropey bits of scrap metal somebody secured it in there with!! Whats the verdict?
  6. A2 XTT would have been nice!!!! AZX TT hehehe some one have already snapped that up though!! bummer.
  7. Was just having a look at http://www.newreg.co.uk for a vaguely 300 related plate to hide the age of my car, was trying various combinations and thought i'd give v6 a try... had to laugh when I saw the top result, the plate v6 is available for a bargain... wait for it... £80,495 !!!!!!!!!!!! fook.
  8. will stick some pics up tomorrow... Well impressed with Cerina's car on your website.. thats the colour for mine!!
  9. There are lots of those little nissan hatchbacks (pulsars ???) around my way, I've only had my Z a week and i've already been blown away two or three times by those little buggers.
  10. My missus just tends to scream "dont kill me" at the top of her lungs... Kind of puts you off keeping your eyes on the road...
  11. Just installed my new blitz air filter today and when I came to do it I noticed that the upgraded oil cooler that has been installed on my car is HUGE, looking at the pics on the z centre site it seems about twice the size of the kit they have available. Its come right up to the top of the gap left my removing the standard airbox and is only about 10mm from the end of the cone, its also fitted right at the front, next to the bumper rather than sitting back like the pics on the z centre site. I was slightly worried that the cone would end up sucking up hot air from the radiator, is this something to worry about? I guess my options are leave it as it is or replace it with a new oil cooler...
  12. ooooh nice, looks like '99 spec rear lights and that signature kit for me! I like the colour of that car too. Do you think it will look ok on a car thats not been lowered? I dont think suspension work is going to fit into the budget after the modest tuning and complete respray....
  13. Actually scratch the bumper/lights/respray im just going to slap a load of this sh!te down the side of my car, which kit do you reckon would suit a Z http://www.psychovinyl.co.uk/BodyGraphics.htm  Horrible isnt it!!!
  14. Which model number is the flared one? Just had another thought, whichever bumper I go for its gotta have a place to distreetly mount a laser blinder!!!
  15. Whats everybodies opinions on the various light conversions available from the Z Centre? I'm not a huge fan of the japanese boy racer/fast and the furious style body kits and wanted something a little more understated that updates the look of the 300 a little, was thinking '99 spec front bumber and either the Venom style rear lights (coming in a 4 light set soon apparently) or the ZC011A 4 light set. Wasnt sure about the LED lights, was a bit concerned they may be a little bit too "I got my upgrades from halfords for my citreon saxo.." what do you think?
  16. Spoke to a nice lady about having the cam belt done at the Basingstoke tyre and MOT centre. She mentioned her son had one!!!! :D
  17. I'm fairly certain the ecu cables come out into the passengers side wheel arche behind the plastic trim, (you'll need to undo three or four screws on this to make enough space to get your hand in) they then feed up to a large hole right beside the battery. Did my laser blinder yesterday via this route, I think everybody is talking about the same gromit i used.
  18. I'd drain the tank if I were you (hose pipe and a good sucking action, maybe you should make the wife do this bit? :o ) and fill it up again with optimax, maybe shove a litre of methanol in there too, that diesel is going to leave all kinds of filth all through your engine...

You guys ok with newcomers? I'm only down the road in Basingstoke and would love to come and have a butchers at some of your cars to get ideas for what to do with mine. I'll be there with bells on in my grey 300 (or if its having the brakes done my ropey old MKII golf GTi, dont lynch me!!!) Cheers Dave
  20. thanks for the advice, I'll definitly give you a call in a couple of week time! thanks again. Dave
  21. To start with some pretty basic stuff, needs a new timing belt pronto, new disks all round (front are prob still the original set and pretty worn, would have only just scraped through MOT) and a REALLY thorough service (flush coolant, oil change to silkolene, gearbox oil change, check brake fluid etc) then if nothing else becomes apparant that needs doing during the service a full stainless system and maybe a bit of a ecu upgrade. As far as the bodywork goes either some touchup work or a complete respray, not sure which yet need to get quotes for both, plus remove the horrible standard spoiler and replace with something tasteful from the zcentre and swap out the lights on the back for the nice 4 cluster thing they have on the zcentre website. And finally if budget allows a full leather kit for indside!!! (im thining shorts wont go to well with the lovely scratchy seats)
  22. Just came to popping a new stereo into my Z and I seem to be a bit stumped, checked and identified the live for the ignition and dash illumination but the constant live seems dead, checked all the fuses and they all seem ok. (btw what kind of a crap place is that for a fuse box!!!!) ;-) Any ideas before I loose my patience and just run a new live from the fag lighter!!!
  23. Hello all, I've just got myself a 300zx TT as a bit of a toy and having spent about half what I originally planned on the car I've got a few grand burning a hole in my pocket and wanted to hand it over to a decent garage for a few bits of work that need doing. Any suggestions for a decent garage that know thier way around a 300 in the Basingstoke area? Also needs a new paintjob, if you've had some nice work done by any local bodyshops I'd appreciate a recommendation.. Thanks in advance. Dave
  24. I think you'll find that thanks to the Japanese being such a zany bunch they like they are keen on the metric system so your pressures will be in KG per sq cm rather than lbs per sq inch, it's definitly kg/cm on the oil gague and I cant quite make sense of the x100mmhG on the dial but for reference 1kg per sq cm is roughly 14psi on the other hand I could be completly wrong.....
