  1. If your ballasts are made by Hella then I'm pretty sure our X5 H.I.D. bulbs will fit. I'll ask my supplier and get back to you. Cheers, Dan
  2. Evening all, The heavens have just opened up just now so can't go outside to rummage around my own zed so I'm hoping someone online knows the answer to my question: What is the bulb spec for JDM fog lights? Is it a single bulb operating twin filamints (remember they are also running lights) or are there two separate bulbs in there? The bulb type (ie H1, H3, etc) would be most helpful. Edit - just remembered: What is the standard wattage of the main beam (H1)? Is it 55W or 100W? Many thanks for your help! Dan
  3. I've done a writup for inclusion when I send out DTA-Motorsport Performance Chips. PM me your e-mail address and I'll send it over (it's too large to go onto the forum - large pdf file). Cheers, Dan
  4. ;) LOL! Never sold double glazing but have been a new business development director for AT&T selling multi-million dollar contracts around the globe! I'll be the first to admit that I don't know everything about these cars but I often see "incorrect" technical information posted and passed on as fact so it's worth to once in a while post something I do know something about! ;) Hi Bart! If the autobox is shifting late you may also want to check the speed sensor (located on the gearbox). Find a known good one and swap it over - see what happens. Also, make sure your autobox fluid level is correct as incorrect level can also cause silly shift points. As for the Shift at Will product, I've heard very good reports about the 2nd generation equipment/software. According to my colleague at DTA (Netherlands) our DTA demo ZX was fastest in many trial runs in The Netherlands until the guys who developed the shift at will equipment showed up with their demo ZX! I am also thinking about getting this system fitted but at the moment it is just too much money ... All the best, Dan
  5. (A) To do it correctly you'd be best of buying a ConZult - makes setting the TPS (and many other things) childs play! (B) 0.44v or 0.45v may not be correct for your particular engine setup. For example, my TPS is set at 0.42v. The most important thing here is that the range is adequate, ie 0.42v at idle - 3.95v at wide open throttle. If using a voltmeter to set the tps make sure you're measuring from the correct wires (I can't off the top of my head remember which ones they are on the connector). Turn the tps until the idle goes up by about 200rpm. Now turn the tps the other way (slightly) until you the revs drop again. Hold it there and do up the two bolts. Check with the multimeter what the voltage is. © Very important. After the TPS has been set to the correct voltage, the TPS connector has to be disconnected and ignition has to be turned on for a short while (but don't run the engine). This will clear the TPS selflearn levels in the ECU. (D) You may also want to make sure the base idle is set correctly otherwise by resetting the tps you'll only be masking various symptoms/problems. To reset the base idle, again - get a ConZult! Otherwise, disconnect the idle valve from the ECU and manually set the idle (using the idle adjustment screw) to the correct base idle setting (= roughly 750rpm for a TT). If you require a more detailed description of how to do this I suggest you do a search on this forum as this is something which crops up every now and then and should be well documented. Good luck! And if you want a ConZult give me a shout! ;) Dan
  6. Hi Leigh - great to catch up with you and John last Saturday. How did you get on with bolting the bits back together? Please pass on my best wishes to Lucie on her birthday and I hope the competition went well. See you guys soon round our way for a meal! Danny
  7. Harve me old chum! Your ingenuity never ceases to amaze me! Looks like an other excellent product - good luck with the sales! We'll be building a double garage and workshop extension at some point in the new year so will get in touch with you nearer the time to get one of these. All the best mate! Danny
  8. That's one ugly mother of a snake! Crickey! I've lived in Africa (when very young) and seen some big ones but this takes the cake (or sheep in this case). Didn't know snake had teeth other than a pair of fangs ... Suppose that as they're angled backwards it's to hold the prey in and prevent it from wriggling out of it's huuuuuuuge mouth as it decides it doesn't really want to be there. Question though ... how did this snake pass through two sets of electric wires (all the while rubbing against them) and then turn back to bite the fence? Wouldn't have thought a snake would bite a fence for no reason ... although I suppose having a high voltage run through your body you're likely to do silly things ...." ;) Cheers! Dan >
  9. This morning, M40(S) between J12and J11 - chasing each other. Got a wave of one of you when you passed me. Front one was blue (standard looking) and the rear one was silver with what appeared to be a wide-arch kit and big rims ... Couldn't see very well due to spray on the road. Anyone on here? Dan
  10. I have no idea Andy but going up and down the M42 this week I counted no less than three cameras North bound between J4 and J6 and three South bound as well. Still no yellow plaques, just the normal white signs with a camera on it. Dan
  11. Thanks for the referal Si! Yes, price does mostly reflect quality. The kits I sell have been independently voted top in class (both for the ballasts and bulbs separately). The manufacturer is the main supplier of "factory fitted" HID kits for Merc, BMW, GM, etc. so quality is assured. They're available in 6000K, 8000K and 9000K (the former being pure white, the latter blue/purple). These kits normally retail on my website at £285 + £10 p/p. As a subscribed member your price is £260 + £10 p/p. I installed a kit in my own ZX this past weekend and it took about 20 minutes per side - no modifications required, completely plug-n-play! These items are custom ordered so please expect a delivery time of around 10 working days from the date that your funds have cleared our accounts. Spare bulbs are available separately (roughly £50 each). Give me a shout if you're interested. Regards, Dan
  12. Jason, You'll probably find that the inside of the headlights is filthy! To clean it up you'll need to take the whole light assembly apart and give it a good clean. I have a sneaky suspicion that perhaps as much as 50% of the light output is lost due to dirty headlamps (internally I mean). Firstly you'll get less light on the road and secondly there will be a lot of scatter which means the beam pattern isn't properly defined. At MOT time this is usually not picked up as they check it so close to the actual lights. Best way to see whether the lights need adjusting is by parking the car 5 metres from a wall and seeing where the light hits. At that distance the top of the main light pattern should be at the same height as the physical height of the headlights as mounted in the car. A bit difficult to explain but if you have a look at the online user manual (lighting section) you'll see what I mean. Regards, Dan
  13. My wife has been a member for many years. Does all sorts of crazy stuff like archery, magic tricks, excursions, driving tanks, flying lessons, etc., etc. I've been on a few of these and must say that I've enjoyed the day & company. If you're looking for a good social time then I recommend joining them. Don't expect to use it as a "pick up" as most of the members are already attached ... Have fun - I'm sure you'll enjoy it! Dan
  14. I didn't see them do it and they didn't leave a note ... *******s!
  15. Coming back from inspecting one of my rental properties I passed the Jaguar plant at Castle Bromwich (Birmingham). Coming out the gate came two brand new (not for sale yet) XK's - one soft top, one hardtop. Absolutely stunning cars - a vast improvement on the current XK series. Especially the soft top! Looks a lot like an Aston DB9. Then on the M42 (watch out for all those hidden speed cameras on the overhead gantries!!!!) came across a new Viper (sorry SRT10). Very nice to see they re-introduced the side exhausts - sounds awsome at 70mph. Coming off at J3 on the M42 I was following a Lambo Murcielago Spider (!). Lovely silver, vents open, top down - absolute stunner of a car. A young chap was driving it like a granny so it's probably "daddy's" ... It's great to see the fortuned British public out in their finest automobiles when the sun comes out! On a sadder note, someone drove into my Zed this afternoon in the carpark of a shopping centre. I tend to park a bit "antisocially" by taking up one and a half spaces to prevent doors crashing into my car but aparently someone tried to be clever and scraped the front wing and bumper. Luckily it has polished out and isn't too visible anymore. Oh well, another reason to get the car to the bodyshop and get her sorted! I'm off the do some more "topless" driving in this fine weather - see ya! Dan
  16. That's ok mate - we haven't made a huge hoo-ha about it as I was still in the process of sourcing a new pipe supplier. That's been sorted now ... All the best, Dan
  17. Actually, I [DTA-Motorsport] has taken over the manufacture and sale of all stainless steel pipe kits (boost and radiator). I can do you a set of boost pipe kits with the BOVs welded in (as shown in your pic) but I will require your BOVs to ensure proper fitment. Give me a shout on 07044016586 or e-mail me at info@dta-motorsport.co.uk to discuss options/price. FYI - the basic boost pipe kit comes it at £225 plus £8 postage. Welding in BOVs will obviously be at an additional charge. Regards, Dan

If this is the car I'm thinking of then it's been for sale in the Birmingham area about 4 times over the past 12 months ... I've seen it advertised privately as well as at dealerships and had a look at it when for sale at a Redditch dealership about 8 months ago. Unless some of the modifications have been done since then there is no way that car is anything other than standard (except for the exhaust). Didn't see any evidence of a boost upgrade or big brakes at the time. As for the paint job - to each their own but I wouldn't have that spray job on my car. Dan
  19. These particular kits are put together using parts from various chinese and Taiwanese suppliers. To the best of my knowledge (and I say this with a fair bit of caution as I don't personally have any experience with these kits) the bulbs and the ballasts are the problem. I have been told by various Japanese (and Australian) customers of mine who have these kits that the bulbs didn't last more than about a month before needing replacing. Replacing the bulb wasn't as straight forward as it should be either because it uses a proprietary connector type. This means that more commonly available bulbs (such as Philips, etc) will not fit. You'll find that on average a replacement HID bulb will cost anywhere between £50 and £80 each (these are the commonly available ones - the ones that I do with my kit cost £50 each). Then there are the ballasts. These aparently do not conform to the set international standards and have been known to burn through. One customer had tanke a ballast apart and found very shoddy soldering and just general poor craftmanship. Again, I do not have any personal experience with these particular kits but rely on the feedback I've had from various customers. Out of about 7 of them who previously had these kits fitted, 5 have bought other HID kits (the ones I sell) and are now satisfied. That's about all I can say on these kits. There are a fair number of other kits available on the market. You'll most likely encounter either Chinese made kits or Korean made kits. The ones I sell are Korean made and come from a manufacturer who supplies the likes of Mercedes Benz, BMW, Porsche and Honda (to name a few). These kits are well developed and well tested in real world situations. I've had customers who have had these kits for over two years now and never had any problems with them. As for the Chinese kits - these tend to be cheaper but not as reliable. Bulbs can be easily changed and most (but not all) use the same connectors as the Philips bulbs. Some of the kits don't include a wiring loom whereas other do so you need to do some serious enquiring before buying! I'm not one to ever "bad mouth" another supplier's products. If you're happy to pay a heavily discounted price and realise that you may end up having to pay a lot of money to keep the product working then I suppose it's a risk you're willing to take. I on the other hand would rather pay more and be confident in the knowledge that I've bought a well designed product which comes with a proper warranty and a form of local support. HTH. Dan
  20. IIRC Nissan didn't build convertibles until 1994 - so a '90 one is incorrectly advertised. Dan
  21. Mick, They are a regular customer of mine and they know their Z-stuff (despite their ebay ad ...) Can't vouch for their actual work results but they seem good guys. HTH Dan
  22. Let me just say that after spending a lot of time researching suppliers of HID kits - you get what you pay for and if it looks too good to be true it usually is. I know this particular manufacturer of HID kits as I've researched them a few months back. It's a cheap kit because they use cheap parts which ultimately will leave you out of pocket over time. I'm not just saying this because I [DTA] am an official HID reseller in the UK and Europe but when you're spending this kind of money on a product you need to have the confidence that (a) it works, (b) you have a "local" support network and © the warranty is valid in this part of the world. As with most products on ebay, the warranty expires the minute it leaves the country of manufacture. So buyer be ware! Dan
  23. I'm currently working on putting together a LED "package" which in effect will be a straight replacement job for all the dash bulbs. Take out the old bulbs put in the new LEDs and away you go! It's currently in the development stages but should be good to go in about a month/month and a half (I'm aiming just in time for Christmas). You'll be able to get the LED's in blue, red and green and I'm also trying to get LEDs to light up under the A/T lever indicator plate ... No word yet on pricing but it should be competitively priced. Regards, Dan
  24. I agree with John on the above ... His chips are v. good IMHO. However, I also do chips (DTA Performance chips) and have had some amazing results! A mildly modded zed running our chip has recently been winning awards left, right and centre on the 1/4 mile circuits in Scotland. Like John's chips - ours are specifically tuned to your car's mods/condition. Cheers! Dan
  25. No problem - I'll let you (and the rest of the forum) know when the twin jobbies are ready to go - keep an eye out on the DTA section of the traders forum. As for the other stuff - I appreciate your business! Regards, Danny
