Indicator and Side light bulb fittings needed.
Mate, if you want to put functioning side lights in your indicator cluster you'll need bulb holders to fit 501 bulbs (also sometimes referred to as W5W or "blade" bulbs). These are the same as the ones used in the side repeaters. It is next to impossible to find these holders and a loom from a motorfactors and I have been trying for over a year! What I'm now doing is getting the side repeater holder and loom from a breaker and splicing that into the existing wiring loom. If your car didn't originally have side lights then splice it into the running lights located in the fog lights. That way when you turn on the lights the side lights come on automatically. Hope this helped - if not give me a shout and I can talk you through it. Regards, Danny

xenon side light bulbs
Not really. I've been running 100W dip beam bulbs for about 4 years and apart from a hefty earth lead (I drive a JDM ZX) no other mods were required. As for my 100W high beams no mod was required there either. I rarely use high beam so heat build-up is not a consideration. I've now got HID's in place of the dip beams though ... Dan

xenon side light bulbs
Hi Andy, I need to put that "off road use only" disclaimer on because it's a legal requirement. Failure to do so could potentially have serious repercussions for me if something were to go wrong ... In all fairness, I've been running 100W dip beam bulbs for over four years and never had any problems with them - didn't blind anyone, nor did it ever fail come MOT time ... so in answer to your question, they are just a bit bright ;) Dan

NZR: info on Freeview HDD recorders
Thanks guys - will look into these. Danny
-
Thanks Danny
This one did but the normal filter kits dont - the brackets are an additional option from A'PEXi. Having said that I've still got three sets of brackets left although I'm clear out of A'PEXi's at the moment. Next delivery will either be just before Dec 31st or during the first week of 2006 - depends on how busy customs and courier services are ... Dan

Thanks Danny
No problem mate - I'm glad Royal Mail finally got their finger out and delivered it (two days late but better late than never!) All the best, Dan

NZR: info on Freeview HDD recorders
Hey guys, I'm getting fedup of the poor VHS quality of our now 6 year old video recorder and have been looking into HDD recorders. I've already got a freeview tuner on the pc and absolutely love the simplicity of the EPG and direct HDD recording functions. Ideally what I'd like to have is a unit with twin-freeview tuners (so that one can record whilst we can watch another channel), a 80-200Gb HDD and DVD playing/recording facilities. I've looked at the KiSS Technologies DP-588 which ticks all boxes except the twin tuner one. I know there are others out there but thought I'd ask if any of you have one and if so what your thoughts are on this. Are they worth the expense (the DP-588 retails for around the £400 mark) and which one would you recommend? Thanks for your feedback! Dan

Twin filter induction. TT
Hey there, Yep, Scott is right - I do sell these. Actually, to be completely honest I should say that I "will" be selling these starting in the new year. As most of you know by know, I've taken over from Smithy all the production and sales of hard pipe kits (boost, radiator and induction). However, as I'm using a new supplier I'm tricle feeding him the bits to produce. At the moment I've got him producing the boost and radiator pipes just the way I want them. Next on the agenda is to get him to do the twin induction pipes. This is a little bit more involved but I'm confident he can do a good job. He's going to look at this after Christmas so the first lot should be ready to ship just after New Years. I can't confirm the price just yet but I'm not expecting it to change from what Smithy used to charge. Options will include supply of twin A'PEXi filters and a variety of silicone colours. If you're interested in ordering a kit please let me know and I'll open the order book for them. Regards, Dan

Recommended ebay shop
This is typical if ebay is conducting an investigation into a seller's dealings ... I'm not saying this person/company is dodgy, only saying that there may be an ongoing investigation. Could be wrong of course ...

Here you go, pricing info fresh from the distributor! All prices are per pair and do not include £1.50 postage charge (standard charge regardless of size of order). Also any H3 bulb will need to be modified to fit a JDM Z32. I can do this modification prior to shipping but will need to charge an additional £5 per pair. Please note I may drop this service if demand proves to be too much to handle efficiently. Xtreme White Xenon bulbs: Dip beam (55W): £11 Dip beam (100W): £14 *for off-road use only* Main beam (55W): £11 Main beam (100W): £14 *for off-road use only* Fog light (55W): £11 *will require you to modify the spade connector to a bullet connector - 2 minute job!* Xtreme White LED bulbs: Running light (in JDM fog lights): £6 Silvertec bulbs: These bulbs are silver coated and light up/flash amber - great for eliminating the "fried egg" look in clear side repeaters and "Crystal" indicators Side repeater: £5 Indicators (front bumper): £7 Indicators (rear): £7 Side running lights (located behind the front bumper indicators): £5 Brake light bulbs: Standard rear brake lights (2 pair required): £5/pair Standard third brake light (fitted in the spoiler - three required): £6/each If there are any specialty bulbs you may require which are not listed above please get in touch and I'll do my best to source them for you. My supplier is one of the largest in the UK so there are not many bulbs he can not get hold of! Payment details are as per the "payment information" thread in the DTA-Motorsport section of the Traders Forum. All the best, Danny

xenon side light bulbs
This was actually the reason why I started looking into getting whiter bulbs - I fitted my HID's and the rest looked far too yellow! Here's a list of the bulbs I'll be selling within the next couple of days: Dip beam: Xtreme White 55W or 100W High beam: Xtreme White 55W or 100W Running light: Ultra White LED Fog light: Xtreme White 55W If you've got HID's (like me) then I would suggest getting the 55W high beam, fog lights and running lights. I'll post up prices tomorrow after I've had confirmation from my supplier. All the best, Danny PS - I've just sold a pair of HID kits to a chap who's fitted one pair in his dip beam and one pair in his fog lights! Gave him the Xtreme White high beam bulbs to coordinate the look and he's well pleased!

my Datascan check from z32 king
Don't worry about it mate ... ;) The code 34 fault is more than likely the result of a duff det sensor or a fault in the wiring loom between the det sensor and the ECU. Apart from taking the engine out to replace the det sensor and the loom you could try to relocate the sensor to a more accessable location on the engine. I know some people have done that with varying degrees of success. Relocating may still not resolve it if the wiring loom is knackered. Something to be expected after 12 - 15 years of extreme temp changes! Dan

my Datascan check from z32 king
Two things mate (not faults that is ...) (1) Could I please ask that you do not refer to the screenshot you've provided as coming from a "ConZult" - as it clearly comes from a Datascan product. DTA-Motorsport (the official and exclusive distributor of the DTA ConZult) does not wish to be associated with the Datascan product. I know it was an honest mistake and I'm just pointing it out - nothing more ... (2) It is impossible to judge from a screenshot whether there are any problems with your car. We'd need to see a real-time clip of what the sensors are doing to determine if everything is running within their appropriate parameters. Presumably you've gotten an ECU diagnostic fault code read-out, that would show up the most prolific faults. Dan

re finishing alloys?
I've tried these because they are local to me (well they were before we moved last year ...) He will not do rechroming unless he's got the right "jig" for the wheel ... If your alloys are anything over 16" then you'll have a tough time finding a company who will rechrome them due to their size. Good luck though and please let me know when you've found somewhere because I've got some Cadillac STS alloys to chrome ... (they're my dad's and 3 years in the Saudi desert has completely sandblasted the car and the alloys ...) Dan

xenon side light bulbs
Hi mate, I just got the last of the uprated ultra white bulbs in for the main and dip beam. Will put them in my car today to see what the difference is and post up the results. So far I'm looking at offering the following in the kit: 2x Dip beam ultra white bulbs 2x Main beam ultra white bulbs 2x Running lights (located in JDM fogs) 2x Fog lights ultra white bulbs All the above will be "colour" coordinated and will be a lot whiter than the stock halogen bulbs. I can supply dip beam bulbs in either the standard 55W or uprated 100W. As for the rear spoiler light bulbs - yes, I can get those. Please let me know whether you've got the brake light mounted in the rear TT spoiler or if it is behind the perspex replacement panel (NA or TT's fitted with a tail skin). Will post prices as soon as I know these bulbs are the right ones. Cheers! Danny PS - if you really want to upgrade your lights then there is nothing better than fitting HID kits. The kits I sell are completely plug-n-play, can be fitted by a novice in under an hour and no modifications are required so can be removed in its entirety and moved to a different car. Currently running a promotion, £250 delivered (normal rrp = £295 delivered).

xenon side light bulbs
Hi Graham, I sell these (and other) bulbs and although they are quite good you will find that you can still see the blue bulb through the glass when not lit up. Not too bad of course but if you're "nitpicky" like me then it is a minor frustration. The light is not as white as HID bulbs but nontheless an improvement over the stock bulbs. Have a look at the attached pics to see the difference. The 3400K Ultra White bulbs are the same as what you've described above. The Super White LED bulbs are completely crystal clear and project a pure white light (although not very strongly). 501 bulbs are used in the running lights (located in the JDM foglights) and the side repeaters. I'm putting together a complete kit of bulbs to upgrade the Zed's lighting to a whiter (non-HID) look - should be commercially available next week. If you're after a completely crystal clear look for your running lights then I've got some other bulbs available with are truely white and you can't see the bulb through the glass. Ask FunkySi - I've sent hem a set last week. Dan

North Wales Police strike again!!!
There is an official DVLA or Department of Traffic document out there which clearly states that non-standards sized front plates are legally acceptable if there isn't sufficient space to secure a regular size plate. This is mainly aimed at Japanese imports as a lot of them only have a small area where the plate can be mounted. If I can find it I'll post up a copy. Suggest you print it off and keep it in the car and produce it the next time you get pulled over for this reason. From memory I can't say whether the 99-spec front bumper has a number plate mount or not - if it does then it would be interesting to measure it and see if it matches your plate size. If it does, and you have access to the above document, then you've got a case to challenge the fine. Right, off to trawl my HDD now for this document. Dan PS - this doesn't work for standard J-spec bumpers as they (a) do not have a mounting plate and (b) there is plenty of space to mount a UK-spec plate (like on mine) which is full size.

cant do no right with the missus!! (serious thread)
Didn't mean that to be a "fix" really - it's just nice to have a break from the daily routine and have a change of scenery. A couple of days away can seem like a week and it's an excellent way to recharge batteries and gain a different perspective on things ... Sometimes it is useful to go to an unfamiliar place - away from familiar surroundings and home comforts - it takes every day chores and worries out of the equation (like having to do the washing up, collecting children from school, watering plants, etc). However, every couple is different and what works for one may not work for another. Hopefully Mark and his partner know each other well enough to know what steps to take next. Regards, Dan

carcoon?
I used to have one similar to the closed outdoor cocoon where I stored my F355 spider in Spain. Used it for about a month and then some tw*t pulled a knife through it. Damage was not repairable and a new one would have cost somewhere in the region of £1800 at the time. I think they are brilliant products but would only ever buy one for indoor use as the temptation for scum to damage it is just too much! Dan

cant do no right with the missus!! (serious thread)
LOL! I've had my fair share of problems in the past and usually managed to work things out ... by "getting in touch with my feminine side" ... No jokes please ;) Might give marriage counselling a go if DTA-Motorsport should fail ... Cheers! Dan

cant do no right with the missus!! (serious thread)
My 2p worth: Don't try and "fix" it ... that's a very male thing to do. Women work differently and require a different approach. Communication is the key here. If she says it's not something you've done then there are likely to be worries external to your partnership - could be money, job (dis)sattisfaction, friends, family, children, etc, etc. You need to create an atmosphere where she feels "safe" to discuss what is bothering her. She need to know you're going to actively listen and talk through the issues and work towards a solution together. There is no point in repeatedly taking the "what's wrong" line as this will only aggrevate the situation. If she doesn't feel safe to discuss her troubles then they will only get worse. As suggested, try and get away for a weekend to break the daily routine but don't expect to dive straight into deep discussions. Just be together, make a fuss of each other and enjoy your time together and the surroundings. Eventually her barriers will be lowered and the truth will come out. When that happens do not jump in with both feet and try to fix it - things are usually far more complicated than that. Show her you're really listening and make her feel that her troubles are your troubles and that you're looking to work things out together. By doing so she'll start to realise that she means everything to you and that you are committed to working things out with her - this is very important to women (in my experience). I wish you both luck Mark, six years is a nice time to have together and it's not worth it to throw it all away because there was a breakdown in communications. Dan

Headlights - or lack of them!
Sorry folks, I've been away in the USA for a week so haven't seen this thread. Yes, I supply X5 HID kits (as fitted to many Mercs, Beemers and a load of GM cars). They are a straight swap over and do not require any modifications to the existing light housing or wiring looms. This kit is therefore completely reversible - as in you can remove the HID kit completely and revert back to the stock halogen bulbs in a matter of minutes. Am running a promotion on these kits at the moment - £250 delivered (normal retail is £295). Have put these on my own car recently and am absolutely amazed at the difference it has made. I must confess that I did go down the route of cleaning the inside of headlights first - which I highly recommend everyone to do regardless of whether you're fitting HID's, the difference is definitely noticeable. These kits have been independently tested and came out in the top three (for both ballast and bulb performance) only to be out performed by the much more expensive Philips systems. They are a doddle to install and you won't have problems with bulbs blowing or ballasts frying every other month (as happens with some other cheaper kits mostly available through eBay ...) They are well worth the money, especially if you consider that authentic Nissan 99-spec HID lights cost in excess of £1000 and the Philips units come in a shade under £900. Send me a pm or give me a shout if you want more info. Regards, Dan

Hard pipe kit install
You'll have to get under the car to attach the bottom silicone elbow to the rad (as well as when you drain the system) so best get the front in the air mate. Apart from what I've written in the instructions I really don't think there is anything else to look out for. Good luck! Dan
