October 18, 200519 yr Let me just say that after spending a lot of time researching suppliers of HID kits - you get what you pay for and if it looks too good to be true it usually is. I know this particular manufacturer of HID kits as I've researched them a few months back. It's a cheap kit because they use cheap parts which ultimately will leave you out of pocket over time. I'm not just saying this because I [DTA] am an official HID reseller in the UK and Europe but when you're spending this kind of money on a product you need to have the confidence that (a) it works, (b) you have a "local" support network and © the warranty is valid in this part of the world. As with most products on ebay, the warranty expires the minute it leaves the country of manufacture. So buyer be ware! Dan
October 18, 200519 yr Author Danny can you speculate on what part's of his kit's contain cheap parts? I would like to know and so would other's i'd imagine. I was interested in purchasing some of these kit's and i am aware you get what you pay for but some thing's can be bought cheaper and be good quality as well if you look around. Any info on these and other HID kit's would be apprieciated :)

I'd say for the money they're worth a pop... less than half price, and £130 is really only a night out!! Rich
October 19, 200519 yr Speaking to UK suppliers lately they say that the cheap kits usually have cheap bulbs which will not last .....then you have the dubious plaesure of finding a replacement. I must admit its a tempting solution if your on a budget. October 20, 200519 yr Danny can you speculate on what part's of his kit's contain cheap parts? I would like to know and so would other's i'd imagine. I was interested in purchasing some of these kit's and i am aware you get what you pay for but some thing's can be bought cheaper and be good quality as well if you look around. Any info on these and other HID kit's would be apprieciated :) These particular kits are put together using parts from various chinese and Taiwanese suppliers. To the best of my knowledge (and I say this with a fair bit of caution as I don't personally have any experience with these kits) the bulbs and the ballasts are the problem. I have been told by various Japanese (and Australian) customers of mine who have these kits that the bulbs didn't last more than about a month before needing replacing. Replacing the bulb wasn't as straight forward as it should be either because it uses a proprietary connector type. This means that more commonly available bulbs (such as Philips, etc) will not fit. You'll find that on average a replacement HID bulb will cost anywhere between £50 and £80 each (these are the commonly available ones - the ones that I do with my kit cost £50 each). Then there are the ballasts. These aparently do not conform to the set international standards and have been known to burn through. One customer had tanke a ballast apart and found very shoddy soldering and just general poor craftmanship. Again, I do not have any personal experience with these particular kits but rely on the feedback I've had from various customers. Out of about 7 of them who previously had these kits fitted, 5 have bought other HID kits (the ones I sell) and are now satisfied. That's about all I can say on these kits. There are a fair number of other kits available on the market. You'll most likely encounter either Chinese made kits or Korean made kits. The ones I sell are Korean made and come from a manufacturer who supplies the likes of Mercedes Benz, BMW, Porsche and Honda (to name a few). These kits are well developed and well tested in real world situations. I've had customers who have had these kits for over two years now and never had any problems with them. As for the Chinese kits - these tend to be cheaper but not as reliable. Bulbs can be easily changed and most (but not all) use the same connectors as the Philips bulbs. Some of the kits don't include a wiring loom whereas other do so you need to do some serious enquiring before buying! I'm not one to ever "bad mouth" another supplier's products. If you're happy to pay a heavily discounted price and realise that you may end up having to pay a lot of money to keep the product working then I suppose it's a risk you're willing to take. I on the other hand would rather pay more and be confident in the knowledge that I've bought a well designed product which comes with a proper warranty and a form of local support. HTH. Dan
