Apexi Filter For £25.99!!!!!!!!!!

Hey everyone, there's a seller on Ebay selling Apexi filters for £25.99. I quizzed him about fitment and so on and hey says it comes with everything needed to fit the 300ZX.

I'm going to get one and i'll let you all know if it fits ok then perhaps we could do a group buy.

Can anyone tell me if a 70mm opening in the filter is ok? - thats the size it is.

If it doesn't come with the right adapter i'm sure one of you lot can whip up a quick adapter plate for a few quid (i know someone who could too), would be a hell of a saving don't you think?

Have a look for yourselves:

Seems to be selling a lot of replica stuff from Asia!! I think at that price its too good to be true

This will probably be a universal Apexi filter. The bolt layout is totally wrong for the Zeds MAF (I know I bought one  ) It will go on, but you will only be able to attach with 2 bolts and it's a lousy fit TBH

I ended up buying Smithy's twin induction setup and he kindly supplied it with 2 x universal fittings for me!

Don't forget the £18 postage - £44 is still nearly half price, but if it needs the 'adaptor' as well your into £64 and less and less like a bargain.

Sorry - must have my cynical head on today.

There's a seller in America whos got the right adapters for £8 delivered. I thought all filters were universal, you just need the adapter for your car. If the holes don't quite line up on the MAF why not drill them until they do. Id rather pay £51.99 than £80+ for the same thing.

Yea it could be a replica but what if its not?

...most stuff comes from the Far East these days, wouldn't suprise me if Apexi were made in Aisia.

Perhaps its just me, but whenever anything for a 300 looks like its going to be a bargain it turns out not to be.

well i'm going to try one anyway, if its not right or a dodgy copy i'll send it back. The seller accepts PayPal so i'm covered.

Exactly what I was thinking, not the bargain it may at first appear to be!

Was trying to find the twin induction thing on Smithy's site but couldn't see it, does he still sell em?

dont buy it i i bought one before my k&n the adaptor is plastic and brittle and the filter is slightly to long for a z it's so tight against the front bumper the adaptor would break in minuites

Good old paypal, once used that to pay for something I never recieved, paypal looked into it, agreed with me but said I couldnt have a refund due to some really lame reason and I was out of pocket.

did the same with me bought a item off e bay that did not work was described as fully working ,e mailed the seller with no replies, contacted paypal they looked into and guess what no refund £70 down the drain

I couldn't find 'em on his site either  Probably best to drop him a PM. Details of the kit are here

If you do a search on this, you;ll see it's been done to death and no it don't fit.

1) It is universal and the bolt pattern on the bottom of the filter does not line up with your MAF.

2) The adapter in the pic is NOT for a 300zx, infact if it fitted the apexi i'd be surprised.

3) making up a simple adapter plate is not straight forward, i make them so i know.

4) The apexis are designed to be BOLTED directly onto a MAF plate or a MAF itself by way of it's hard plastic base with studs in, to make up an adapter for this you need to make 1 plate with your MAF pattern, another plate with the apexi pattern and join them both together by way of a small length of stainless or alloy tube, welded in between, thus doing away with the design of the apexi's ability to force air directly into the MAF.

5) On the odd occassion when these come through, they are marked cheap enough to avoid customs fees, but NOT brokerage fees from the courier handling it, sometimes 10-15 quid.

Now add all that up, just buy one from Danny complete with instructions and the knoweldge it fits 1st time round and does what it's meant too ;)

For the pittance you save, ain't worth it, imo :D

Steve :)

Yeah Danny's now taken over all my Stainless pipework to allow me more time to develop more products for the Zed.

All other stainless goodies are still from me ;)

cheers

smithy

how do i get one from Danny, has he got a website?

Yes! 't Is true - DTA now sells the stainless steel hardpipe hits (radiator and boost pipes) and also the twin induction pipe work.

They are not up on my website (http://www.dta-motorsport.co.uk) because (a) I'm in the process of setting up an online credit card payment system and (b) the website is being redesigned to accomodate the payment system. Once it is all up and running I'll put a post up on the DTA forum section and you'll be able to see all the products and pay for them using your credit card!

I will have stock of the hardpipe kits in about two weeks time but the twin induction pipe work will take a little longer so please be patient.

Prices remain as per Smithy's old prices:

Rad kit (top & bottom, silicone sleaves in red, blue or yellow & stainless steel bands): £135 + £8 postage

Boost pipe kit (4 pipes, silicone sleaves in red, blue or yellow & stainless steel bands): £225 + £8 postage

Prices for the twin induction pipe work is yet to be confirmed by my new supplier.

All pipe work will be mandrell bent where possible (so no unsightly welds) and polished to a mirror finish.

As for the A'PEXi filters on ebay - stay the hell away from those! As it has been said by many in the previous posts: they won't fit, in the end it'll cost you a lot to receive it and get the right adapter plate made up, etc. It really isn't worth the hassle.

I sell my A'PEXi's at £85 + £5 postage which is about as cheap as you can get them here in the UK. The kit is guaranteed to fit our 300ZX's and is supplied with the proper gasket/adapter, fitting bolts and full fitting instructions.

If you're ordering a twin induction system with A'PEXi's I'll even do you a deal: £140 + £8 postage for two A'PEXi filters! (plus the cost of the pipework of course ...)

I can honestly see the temptation of ordering the filters off e-bay but as with many things in life: if it looks too good to be true it always is!

ATB,

Dan

I've got an HKS mukchroom sponge thang to ogo on in the interim (much as I hate them) but let me know when the tein induction blingness comes in and you'll have a buyer! I'll get the apexi's off you at the same time mate, what with that and the chips I want to get off you you're going to do well out of me Danny! LOL

No problem - I'll let you (and the rest of the forum) know when the twin jobbies are ready to go - keep an eye out on the DTA section of the traders forum.

As for the other stuff - I appreciate your business!

Regards,

Danny

Did someone just say "I wouldn't be surprised if A'PEXi were made in Asia?"

FPMSL!!

Apexi was founded in Japan in 1992, Japan is in Eastern Aisia, so one would assume that the majority of Apexi's products are manufactured there.
